Simon when your sat judging the beer reminded me of the episode mr bean did when he was sat in the manor house sitting an exam.....go back and watch it,absolute classic😂
@@HopZine i think the guy wanted to judge the beers without outside influence or a camera in his face. Maybe the guy performs better when hes present without pressure.
I've judged homebrew a few times. Last time I did it I was teamed up with Zak Avery. We had IPA and had loads so had to bang through them. Your mate was labouring over that one. I've a mate thatjudges at GABF and says they so many per round they have less than 1 min per beer.
Check out Lidl on the 17th...German/Alps week...they are selling the 10 pack of Festbiers(looks like diff ones from last time), and the usual Perlenbacher fest bier/Radler/Weiss....time to stock up on decent beers lol
It looked like Simon was fumbling in the dark for the correct answer and not just letting his opinion flow. Thought he would have been more authoritative than he came across ! 🤔
@kosmosfaber6534 You don't daft lad. I am a beer judge. We do NOT USE A BUCKET, we need to drink the beer to develop an aftertaste which is prevalent to beer tasting.
SIBA seems to have too many beers on the judging list. Really speaking any beer judging should be limited to 6 to 8 beers. Any more and the palate becomes overloaded.
@@kezchallacombe6684 I've never found the amount of beers to be too many. I'm pretty good at "getting" a beer in a few sips. With SIBA it was always the quality. so much ropey (often cask) beer. Finding the good beer was the challenge. Then the people you often were sat with too. I met some amazing, experienced beer folk while juidging, but also some loud-mouths with an opinion and very little knowledge. I had a great time the one time I judged at CAMRA National Winter Ales. Sat with Micheal Jones Lees (of JW Lees) and Dave Sanders (the godfather of great British Porter). A real education.
