How To Keep A Rabbit Cool 

I have a tip, put vegetables and water in an ice cube tray and freeze them. my rabbit Bugsy LOVES these on hot days.

I also keep a spray bottle with water in the refrigerator so when she gets overheated I lightly spray her ears (cover her eyes with a small cloth or use my hand) & I also spray her body...^.^

Awesome tips, Haley! I often keep the windows closed and blinds shut for Ed. We really can't afford keeping the ac on all day so this often helps. I also feed him wet veggies in the morning and generally leave him alone during the hottest time of the day (around 5-6pm). I also have a puppy pen in the basement which is where I put him in when its very hot.

Rabbits are such fascinating animals I never knew their body heat can be checked by their ears!

TIP: To keep your greens from wilting I keep them in cold water in a bowl in my fridge and I’ve noticed when I give my bunny his greens, it really cools him down from being cold in the fridge ! 🤗

A freezer, a couple 1-2 litre bottles, water, a layer of fleece and sheathed in a 100% cotton case (hand sewn to fit) and that's two cool bunns. The water bottle bit made me feel like an idiot, since I previously just put them around fans rather than under fabric. The bunnies love the 'bumpers'. Thanks for the tips!

dang girl these are some awesome tips!!! I am def using some of these since I live in Los Angeles and it can get HOT. We bring in our rabbit Strawberry when it gets into the 90's.

Thank you, some great tips. I have air conditioning, its a mobile home, so it heats up really hot. If it is 70 outside, it is at least 82 or 83 inside without the ac. So I have ac AND fan blowing on them. The ac is on the other side of room opposite from the fan, I will definitely try the WET SHEET. What a great idea. Thank you, you have another subscriber.

We care for two chinchillas and we use marble slabs that we got at a "pet" store to help them stay cool. They don't crack and can be left in the freezer whenever they're not in use.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been putting frozen water bottles in his cage but he hasn’t really been laying next to it so I assume he isn’t to hot. He does lick the condensation off the bottle from time to time though.

Hey I'm so glad I found your channel, you've been very helpful! Anyways on to my question, I have a 4 month female bunny and a 5 month old male bunny, I got them fixed a week ago now. I have them separated and I plan to bond them in a month and a bit, your bonding video was amazing by the way! They are both out door rabbits and I understand they are both still young but I have them trained to use these trays as litter boxes, very efficient till the point they decide to wee somewhere other than the tray, I only put sawdust in the tray and it's not overly deep or hard to get in and out, it's perfect for them both as they have one each, for the flooring I have a few news papers pages down, but they sometimes rip them up and still go to the toilet somewhere else? I don't understand this, will they stop once their hormones die down in a month and so or am I doing something wrong? I would really appreciate advice etc since this has troubled me and caused me more work when cleaning them out!

I also use a frozen water bottle and the tiles. I also sometimes put carrots in water and then put it the fridge for 15-30mins then give it to them!

I have two rabbits and they are in my basement which is always cooler than upstairs/base level. Also one of my rabbits doesn't have ears (long story) so luckily I don't have to worry as much about temperature in the warm weather

I live in the UK so it's rarely about 24 degrees but it is atm. My bunny is an out side one though 😭 I'm doing the frozen water bottles though

I will most likely never get this problem when I get my bunny because my mom always keeps our house very cold as she does not like heat very much, but if our ac breaks then I will be sure to try these tips. :) Great video and very informative!!

I remember when my sister's boyfriend brought 2 rabbits to our house .We suspected that the female was pregnent .She immediately gave birth 2 hours in my room .We tried to use a fan to cool her down after she gave birth but the power went out and we ended up having to resort to cooling them down with magazines XD.True story .Needless to say they are now safe back at his house

We have a cool patch thingy that you just stick in the freezer, wrap it in cloth or leave it and it's great!

If u hav a cage that has an upper n lowr part n u run a fan in front of the bottom part outside of it the bunny can go 2 the upper part when it wants. I saw a tray @ WalMart. U could fill it up with watr n the rabbit could sit or lie down in it depending on how big the bunny is. But if their potty trained n they get in the litter box it'll stick 2 their fur. So if I had rabbits I would freeze a bottle of watr n put it in the cage.

What I do in hit days is give them frozen water bottles an sometimes if there is an outfit near by they each have a mini fan so that use that.

Tip: if you have a hutch then buy a thermal cover that keeps them almost the opposite of what the temperature is! But please don’t buy the rainproof one as this isn’t thermal!! Or DIY with wet towels on enclosure x

Sweet Thing our bunny and our neighbor bunny seem to be doing fine. Yesterday, when 104, they were running around the yard having a great time. Our bunnies go under the fence to play with one another. Today it is 106 and Sweet thing is in the shade eating heartily. He does not want to come into our air-conditioned house.

My rabbits live outside and we put cardboard on top of their cage and then blankets and we spray the blankets with water also my mom uses the water bottles for them

I had a bunny named bugs as in bugs bunny but he grew to be 10. He didn't get any health issues or arthritis but when he was 9 1/2 he had liver failure so we had to put him down last year..;(

What I did was have 4 bowls of water in there play area and 6 trays of ice for them to lick and to keep the air con on and also keep fans turned on everywhere. Oh and also drown there veggies in water so when they eat them they are also drinking some water

I have an alexa that controls the aircon in my house, and an alexa connected to the same account at work. when i get a rabbit i intend to get some kind of thermometer i can connect to my phone so i can check the temperature. If it gets too hot i can just turn on the AC from work and turn it off as the day cools! So i dont have to have ac on all day. I love living in the future.

Do you think mist would help to cool them off?
