One of the most important aspects of Thorlo Socks that you have omitted is that they have a material that is, hydrophobic. That’s why they are so good, as they capture sweat and project it in the opposite direction to human skin, passing it to the wall of the shoe; while normal socks (are Hydrophilic) what They do is to capture the sweat, heat it and project it again on the foot, so that after an intense training the foot appears white as if it were cooked. After a hard match with Thorlo your feet will be dry.
Although I think Thorlos do a nice job of decreasing moisture for how padded they are, ive still had issues in the heat with them in terms of temperature specifically, ive done a few temperature checks with my infrared thermometer and they routinely heat up more than my more breathable socks
Can you please provide any links for special shoes you recommend for keeping feet cooler? My husband suffers from the bottom of the shoes being way too hot and uncomfortable after a long day of work. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated, thank you!
I took the insoles out of a pair of Dr Martin leather boots and only lace them up halfway. The bottoms of my feet don't get hot anymore. That's the only thing I've found so far. Any sort of cushiony insole under the foot seems to heat up under my feet. Maybe an extra firm insole would work as well or better, but I haven't found one.
Zach - which shoe do you recommend for comfort over several hours? I played 6 sets and by the end my feet were aching like I was wearing wooden planks.
Last weekend I played in 93F at noon with my diadora 5. My foot start to burn as the ventilation is not that good and the top is kinda black non-porous material. The second day i wore my SCB adidas and felt much cooler.
Just wondering which shoe has better arch support, Dr. Zach? The barricade or solecourt boost. Or is there another tennis court shoe that is better in this area?
Hey zach I have a question for you. I recently bought the asics court ff novak with the clay outsole and i was wondering if I could also use it on hardcourts without sacrificing too much durability. Thanks in advance
You'll burn through them a bit faster because the tread is narrower but theyre still good- check the durability test on the solution speed ff2, its the same rubber, that should give you a good indication- the bigger issue is if you slide on a HC then that grip can be problematic with causing twisting injuries
