Happy to add a fourth skill set to my repertoire! I’ve learned crochet, Tunisian crochet, knitting, and now knooking, in that order.

Thank you. I've been crocheting my whole life and am very advanced but knitting never seemed to work. Now I can knook and create knitted designs too. Thanks!

I've tried knitting SO many times and have had multiple people try to teach me and I never could get it but I can understand crochet just fine. This just blew my mind this makes so much more sense to me

I felt the same. I wish more people knew about knooking. It’s the best bits of knitting and crochet combined!!

Oh my gosh! I have been trying to figure this out myself because knitting is ridiculously hard for my crochet brain. I tried a regular crochet hook and a tunisian hook but always ran into a problem! This makes me happy that there really is a way to do this:)

Just be warned you may never go back to crochet. I rarely do anything other than knooking now. I just wish it was more popular.

thanks for this video! now I can 'knit' lol now how to do this left handed. I can't figure out how to make the video do a mirror flip so I can do it left handed, but eh I can't do it. my right hand is struggling lol when I try it left handed, what comes out is the front and back side alternate. its pretty I love it but I still want to be able to have a solid face and solid back side

I have actually been trying to do it left handed so I don’t have to purl 😂. Ill keep working on it and post if I have success.

With only a few stitches might seem ok but with a 100s of round sweater for example it is cumbersome to turn it and slide all over. A nice knitting with double pointed needles can not be surpassed.
@emilysmith2784
@emilysmith2784 6 дней назад
@@nonamenoname2767 well in the round you don’t turn, so you just knit and knit and works just like circulars. I’d be scared of stabbing myself with DPNs 😂
@nonamenoname2767
@nonamenoname2767 6 дней назад
@@emilysmith2784 ahaha no you dont stab yourself with doubles, you may even produce your own short long whatever thickness double needles from bamboo sticks sold everywhere, all you need is just a pencil sharpener. I will this in round since I could not understand how it would be in round I dont have a special hook like yours but may attach something in place
@crystald3655
@crystald3655 9 часов назад
@nonamenoname2767 I stab myself with my doubles on the regular. I keep point protectors on the ends I'm not working off which helps. Though this is great for those who have issues with knitting with needles. You can knit sweaters and even socks in flat panels and seam them together.
@nonamenoname2767
@nonamenoname2767 6 часов назад
@@crystald3655 the trick not to stab yourself with doubles is to pull the stitches on the needles to its tip at every turn. I would never knit something tubular into flats to join them later but again everybody has their own methods and needs. Happy knitting or knooting👍🏻

Had a discouraging attempt at knitting, so I might make this special hook out of wood and try knooking instead ^^ Also, since you're not moving the hook far enough backwards as in crochetting puffs, the flip-flop mechanism for repairing dropped stitches can be added aswell.

Good luck. I used wooden crochet hooks with holes drilled in them too, when I first started.

Could you PLEASE do a video on how to add stitches in the middle of the work? I’m totally struggling with how to do this so the cord goes through these extra stitches

This is slow and tedious and in no way makes any sense. Knitting is fast and comfortable, just learn how to actually knit.

That’s your opinion. My experience is different, I tried knitting and it just didn’t work for me. I prefer this, it’s fine if you don’t but it not very nice to be completely dismissive of a craft because you don’t understand it.

I tried to knit for 10 years (off and on) and never could get the hang of it. Picked up crochet and it clicked right away. Then I found out about knooking. It is the best of both worlds for me. You said things that are obvousily true for you, but not necessarily for other people.

This is a tutorial so it’s slowed down. Knitting tutorials look just as tedious lol
