2:51 I LOVE her 1930's radio announcer voice. It just cracks me up along with her Transatlantic accent from another video where she's reviewing celebrity accents from various films.

1:41 Like in England we say that we're going to the pharmacy, and when I was younger we moved further north I got really confused because everyone called lunch dinner and dinner was called tea. When people were moody everyone said mardy. And in South London there is a whole slang system that nobody spoke up north. Weird how one small country can have such variation, huh?
@HashimAziz1
@HashimAziz1 6 лет назад
Jessica Gomez Yeah, and pharmacy used to be “chemist” and in some places still is, and in some places is apparently even becoming “drugstore”.

Thank you for the advice! I pick up sounds (mimicking animals and singers) quickly, and accents easily when listening to a native speaker (in fact, so easily that it happens unconsciously and unexpectedly even down to melody, word order and choice and I am generally unaware I have changed accents until a friend points it out), but for some reason I can never reproduce the accents away from the source. It can be quite frustrating. I shall have to practice, practice, and practice some more!

What fascinates me a lot about this - besides all the great advide about how to learn an accent - is that this advice is also extremly helpful if you want to weaken your accent. I'm from Germany and I don't have a heavy German accent but you can still hear where I come from. So I can use your advice vice-versa to sound a little less ridiculous.
@aphr0d
