We used to train this drill at the JKD club I trained with in the UK, as we often had Kali sessions. Then we would go through striking, roof blocks and wing blocks. I really enjoyed Kali, the Heaven six drill is a great drill for improving coordination. The thing I can't do is twirl my sticks with my wrists the way you make it look so easy. But I'll work on the mechanics of it. Thanks for inspiring me to train again.
I learned this many years ago, but I have not practiced it and forgotten the exact sequence, thank you for the reminder / education on this subject. Hand to hand combat is somewhat of a lost art, but still crucial information to know and to train with.
I have a confession to make I’ve worked out under a Sensi who was a student of Dan in santo and got his itf black belt under Benny the jet so I have three senior belts… but no FMA… he’s amazed by me but my secret is bing watching you…. If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery then fine… he’s a good instructor but lacked ability to put the flow into parts.. I’m 61yrs old my goal is six black belts by 65 yrs old although Arnie kali uses scarfs or of various designs…. Yes we will meet one day but your an awesome teacher thank you
This video is very helpful to learn the basics. Instead of having wooden escrima sticks, I have the rubber escrima sticks. Just for the training and drilling purposes.
Looking good Paul. You look like you've toned up a little more I would love to train with you in person if you ever get within a few hours at the El Paso Texas area I will be there! Little John Horizon City Texas
Wood will splinter into potentially lethal shards. Rattan doesn't splinter, it eventually pulps. Stick length should be deep armpit to tip of middle finger.
