i would recommend disable the steppers and keep the printer on as doing while off it damages the printers motors where as disable stepper makes it so you can freely move the bed and print head with no damge
@@descartes451 it will look like its doing nothing but it is, good to do because not turning off steppers can damage the main board. To enable the steppers, auto home print head :-)
Just a quick note that will make the process faster without having to recheck each corner over and over. Put the nozzle over the screw to level it. If you’re to one side or the other then when leveling the other corners the screw point becomes a pivot. And your previously leveled corners will then change. So make sure your leveling point is on the fulcrum of each corners screw. Hopefully that makes sense.
vanili00 it’s never completely perfect, but by watching these help videos I’ve noticed that every ender 3 pro is different. I’m by no means an expert and you would need to get from someone more experienced. Good luck!
I really want to start printing. I haven't bought one yet, but I have to say it's really because I find it intimidating. These vids are giving me a bit more confidence.
That's how it was for me too! Fortunately 3D Printing is much cheaper than it used to be. The printer I showed is great for beginners because it works well without a huge investment but it also allows a lot of room for learning.
I personally would never level a cold bed due to the fact metal moves/expands when heated. But if it works for you, go for it. Also, IMO, the skirt is a good accident. You can tell a lot from it and stop the test print early if you see a problem. Thus saving some filament.
Thank you for a great presentation. Your delivery, speed and diction were excellent--and with a striking absence of ums, ahs and "go ahead and..."! Refreshing! I'm very new, just got this End 3 Pro 2 or 3 months ago. I have always had problems leveling--the left rear corner is too high. I have squared the frame, leveled the X axis, aligned the Y screw top and bottom, adjusted all eccentric nuts, adjusted the Y stop-limit switch, made sure printer is level and stable, tightened (carefully!) all screws--and then repeat over and over--and probably forgotten to list some others. I likely have watched about all the available videos!. Yes, I start each time by tightening each bed screw fully, and backing off the suggested amount (it varies per the source). About a month ago I finally was able to get it level, out of frustration , by applying considerable pressure on that back corner. That has been my procedure for the 2 or 3 times I've since been able to print, and now "applying bed pressure" no longer seems to help, if it ever did! I don't believe in voodoo so there must be something, somehow, that I am doing or shouldn't do! Hope you can solve it for me!
@@CallumPrints Thank you anyway for your interest. If I read my post with anothers' eye, it would be clear "that the writer just keeps repeating the same mistake over and over and is too dense to get it." I'll keep trying new approaches if only because I'm too hard-headed to give up. The latest thing I've done is remove the strain relief for the wire attachment to the hot bed. Now the back of the bed is too low and the bed plate strikes the top edge of the Y motor mount necessitating removal of
Ok--I went thru the basic assembly steps and then focused on why the back of the bed is so much lower than the front. I adjusted the front and back wheels until the bed was visibly level and the wheels were approximately centered on their screws. I then adjusted the bed cold as closely as I could using the usual paper strip. Next I heated the bed and WOWSIE, it leveled out with just a bit more wheel turning! I printed some test copies which were pretty good but will need final tuning in retraction, layer height, etc, my next project. Turns out that removing the bed strain relief, IMHO, was most helpful but grinding the Y motor mount was un-necessary (but did no harm). I'm going to print a new design for the strain relief when I find one. Videos such as this one provide a fertile hot bed for learning opportunities. I have no illusion that this dissertation will directly help anyone other than perhaps support to keep trying new avenues. I'm using my own advise to keep going--I'm 82 and view this as therapy for my well-worn brain, which can surely use a little success now and then! I owe a great deal to sites like this one and the readers who contribute. Thank you all!
Thank you bro i feel a lot better knowing how to level my bed nicely. I leveled it once almost perfectly but now it’s been too low and high. I just got it today and leveling made me so nervous but tomorrow i’m gonna try again. Thank you so much.
3:49 That's your stepper motor generating electricity because you moved it with the printer off/stepper motors enabled. Don't do that. It can damage your motors
Football rules! I played tightend/ slot back and defensive end. Mvp reciever! Thanks for the tutorial. Nice and easy but I wouldnt move that thing around too much, just download a code. Anyways great work!. Keep on living a positive healthy lifestyle. 🙏👊
after I Home and Level using paper, I select a project and tell it to print. from the home 1 position it starts printing BUT the nozzle move UP about 3/8 inch and cannot print any ideas or how to adjust this??
my ender 3 pro is haveing issues when i hit auto home it centers into the middle of the plate.... not sure why its doing this my buddy gave me the printer due to moveing
I have a question for you guys/gals, when you're leveling your bed, the two front wheels should be "clockwise up - counter clockwise down" but the two wheels in the back, is it the same when you are looking it from the front or you have to look it from the back to be clockwise up - clockwise down? Btw, i have an ender 3X, is it different? Edit: thank you in advance!
@@robertgliem7417 eeh.. some 10 months later I finally got a response, thankfully I managed to find out by myself xP JK, thank you for taking some of your time to respond to my message, I'm sure you haven't noticed it was such an old comment, and in any case I truly thank you for caring and giving me your advice :) have a good one, love from Greece
I need help I have under three I’ve tried a lot of options I’m going to try this today but heating up the bed is what I’ve been doing in the past and I haven’t been able to get it I’ve tried this one three times already but I’m not sure do I need to switch out the nozzle
Thanks for this, it helped but I have a slight problem. Even though I adjust it with paper for very little resistance, when I do a test print, it works ok for a little but then it starts bunching up at the nozzle. What am I doing wrong?
It takes a few tries, but the best way to stop this problem is to double check all of the corners again. You may also be experiencing some bed adhesion problems (first layer of a print not sticking to the bed).
Hey i recently got the ender-3 Pro, the same one you have, and whenever i try printing something, it starts from the side and then messes everything up, it does print properly. but when i print the project they gave (the one in the sd card from shiping) it print properly. Can you please tell me why this is happening? Thanks
Hello! I got this printer to for cookie cutters. I was wondering how can you print words on the side (almost like your yoda) what program u use. Thanks
In most 3D modeling software, you can put text on a layer and then either extrude or cut out the area that the text takes up. This should also work for your cookie cutters
I believe this is a problem with the z offset. Try adjusting that. If that doesn't work, try resetting the wires on the motors, aka unplug and plug them back in.
I know this video post some time ago, but am having problems finding help. Hoping you can. I received my Ender 3 Pro and finally came to the point to level the bed. However, after selecting Auto Home, I go to adjust the bed with the dials and the wheel nearly come off and the bed is not close enough to the extruder. What is wrong? I went through all the set up steps to make sure I didn't miss anything when it comes to the bed.
@@Aashishkebab Sadly, the mother board was defective as well. Sent the printer back and they sent me a new one. That was damaged prior to shipping. It was returned. Little fed up now. No idea what printer to get at this point. Little faith in Ender. But thanks for responding, it’s appreciated.
Hey you said in this video you dented your first 3d printer bed, I literally just did that to my ender 3 pro. Know of any ways to get a new bed for this or anything else that would work?
My magnetic bed had a dip in it so I bought a glass bed and when I go to level it it seems to have the same dip and doesnt stick at all. Am I doing something wrong?
@@CallumPrints when I go to level the corners it's good and tight all the way around but in some places in the middle will just not touch the bed at all. Maybe my extruder isn't leveled correctly?
That is weird. I'm guessing that your z offset is messed up. I dont have a video on a offset but there are plenty of those on RU-vid. After you adjust that you'll have to re- level your bed.
Hey, great videos. I have a problem with the Endor 3 v2 please help. I have been printing for about a week. Now when I download a new Gcode file the printer doesn't see the new Gcode file. The old ones are there but the new file is not there. the printer is not reading anything new that was put on the SD card. I cannot figure out what's going on
Most likely the issue is with the SD card and not the gcode. Try using a new microSD card and then seeing if your printer registers it. And if your slicer isnt updated, update it, that may be your problem
CIR Inventions thanx, it makes sense because printer is reading the SD card but not new files. The files are there though on the SD printer just not reading. Ok, I will try. Do I have to format SD card in a special way?
I was doing my right front, step 1 of the video and the wheel was raising the bed, but then it had no more left to spin and the paper had 0 resistance. Anyone know how to fix this?
Two things you might wanna try: 1. Check your wires. This may not do anything but it's good to check. 2. Adjust your nozzle height. There should be tutorials on how to do this all over RU-vid
Thanks for the sub! And yes, this leveling method should work for any printer that is leveled using knobs, which includes the non-pro version of the ender 3.
JOJO REFRENCE also you may have to adjust the z-offset. I never made a video about that or mentioned it here but there are tutorials that can help you out.
what ever you do Don't add in a "Auto Level" they auto level nothing do nothing but act as a replacement z stop waste of time and No going back to the original firmware as it doesn't exist anywhere but in the memory before you flash the board
Dude my ender 3 pro came with the leveling springs so compressed that they can be completely lose and the bed is still like a quarter inch from the damn head. I need new springs
I'm gonna assume you mean completely loosened, because if they're completely tightened, there should be room between the bed and the nozzle. This may just be a calibration issue with your printer, so I would reccomend unplugging and plugging in your wires. If that doesnt work, I would keep looking for solutions. I would love to help more, but I've personally never had this issue. Good luck!
