One of the best videos I've seen so far. Plus all the materials with links to purchase are in the description. A+ my man! I'm currently doing my third house subfloor leveling so a laminate floor can be installed correctly. If only I found this video on house one it would've made my life easier. Nice job! I liked the spiked roller you use at the end. I used self leveler over OSB in a small bathroom and even though I used the maximum amount of water specified it didn’t get completely level even though it had the same consistency and flow in your demonstration. It needs the small amount of agitation the roller creates.

@ryanbuckley3314

I think it agitates the leveler, and breaks the surface tension allowing it to roll out more evenly. It probably pokes air bubbles out too.

Great instructive video. I have a plywood floor that had backerboard screwed into it, which I removed and left a lot of screw holes that go completely through the subfloor. Can you recommend a sealer that can be applied by roller or squeegee before attempting primer and leveler?
@MrYoucandoityourself

Hi Scot, very good question! It’s hard to find best choice, because you need materials with good film tension. Otherwise it can be lead through the holes. I would spend time to feel up this holes wit caulk, let it dry and then to do level. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Привет гроза рейволюции, прикольное название! When you apply primer, it’s protect plywood from water absorption.. About how big capacity of concrete you can add to wood subfloor at second floor. All structures of house calculated by some weight over, and if you have a look on apartment buildings with wood structure, there is for fire protection a lot of concrete on subfloor. And nobody worried about it. You can add concrete within a reasonable. If it’s 1 inch or 2 - not a problem, but if it’s more, you have to talk with building department in you city. Just think about how heavy furniture when you bring at home a how light concrete will be compares with it. Thanks for your question and watching!

@MrYoucandoityourself 3 года назад
I can’t say to you - must to level. It’s your design, but I am not doing installation without leveling. Thanks
@medavis
@medavis 2 года назад
It really just needs to be flat. Being off-level isn't going to affect your floating floor, but not being flat definitely will as you'll have voids or high spots under the vinyl. Over time, gravity and foot traffic will cause problems in areas with voids. Think joints coming apart, popping, squeaking when you walk on it, etc. Level probably more has to do with the foundation and/or framing of the house. Yeah, you could try to make the floor perfectly level, but you'd likely have to level across the whole floor of the home. But what's the point? Unless it's so unlevel that you can sense it when walking around, as if you were walking up/down hill, you won't notice any benefit. Worst case scenario, you level the floor and wind up with one side of the home having 9 feet distance from floor to ceiling, and the other side having 8 feet and X inches from floor to ceiling. That said, if your floors are way off level, then that's going to make applying a self-leveler like this pretty tricky! But I'm guessing that's not the case, otherwise the place probably needs to be condemned.
@wilsonparry9341
@wilsonparry9341 2 года назад
@@medavis Thanks, Michael. Yeah, we spoke to contractor and a friend who does floor installation. Both said same thing- only needs to be FLAT. Nothing sticking up more than 1/8 of a inch. They said unless you're doing some high end home, it doesnt make sense to level since we would have needed about 40 bags of cement! so we only "leveled" one small transition area and "rode the wave" of the rest of floor. Turned out great!

Why was the subfloor lower in that spot? Won’t the subfloor continue to sink and compress further as time goes on? If you are installing new flooring over the entire new floor, would level the entire floor using this method? If so then would this not be too heavy weight structurally speaking?
@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself Год назад
I do not think so if you using the right primer and SLC. I am doing it for a long time no complaints about heavy or not heavy. In apartment wood structure buildings a lot of amount of concrete over a wood subfloor and no anyone thinks how it's heavy.

my concern is the point where new floor meets with subfloor as the new layer feather in the new on this has potential to crack awa. Is this valid concern?

I've also done this and could never find a product that would not chip off and make a mess at the feathered edge. Guess it depends on the product's ability to be spread thin. GREAT skill set. Thanks for sharing.

Твои видео короткие, но очень информативны. Очень классные. В какой пропорции разводишь порошок для получения такой консистенции при разливке? Спасибо.
@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself Год назад

Class! But can you tell me how you would level a plywood floor (over basement) with many low spots up to max of 1.25-1.5cm if I am installing 3/4" staple down hardwood? Have you ever used play sand for leveling? You can reply in Russian if you like. I have a big problem on my hands and would be willing to pay you for consultation. Spaceba! Steve
@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself 5 лет назад
Hi Stephen, For this specific leveling (for nail down), you have to use plywood from 1/8 to 3/4". glue plywood in low spots and then sending edges with grinder or floor edger. Than you can start installation. Concrete leveling doesn't work for nail down. Sorry man.
@pavlo687
@pavlo687 5 лет назад
@@MrYoucandoityourself Thanks for fast reply! Have you ever used 'play' sand for leveling? What about also using multiple levels of 30lb felt paper or cheap asphalt shingles? Luan plywood would be easy to use also, but I can't find it in 1/8". I must have some sagging joists because when I put 8ft level next to exterior wall and lay it to joist in center of room, the bubble is level but there are low spaces in between. I cannot permanently raise the sagging joists from basement because I cannot jack up floor where there is no footing. I maybe could raise sagging joists one at a time, then install plywood sister, and then hope it would hold straight when I remove jack. Any way you could call me at 513-207-5667?

HI, thanks for posting the videos. How important is it to apply the primer to the OSB before pouring Easy Plus mix? Also, is it OK to pour an additional thin layer of Mapei after the original layer is all dry and solidified? I miscalculated the amount required on one of the rooms. Thank you!

Interesting method. I've been looking up videos but they recommend using a bunch of different tools (and cleats). One question, what exactly where you doing with the push broom? Were you getting rid of puddles? Were you doing some more smoothing? What would happen if you didn't use it? I wish the step by step was explained a little better. Great vid though.

Hi Felix, I hope, not to late answer your questions. I am using push broom if I am doing leveling for big projects. Usually, I used a trowel. More smoothing you can make without a spiked roller, just slide straight edge back and force a few times. Here is an example - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NdX0pT2hmBU.html.
