By far the best way to go if you don't want to make your own lighting sets

Awesome video on showing on how to save money. Another thing that I have seen with kits from watching your videos and looking at their sites, the lights were designed to go into one spot based on what the kit maker decided. The DYI lights allow the MOC or Modular builder way more flexibility.

How much do the components cost? Im currently building everything with parts from mouser, but the extra work isn’t worth if it costs more. Thanks in advance!

1.99 to 2.99 for each light

Thanks for the video, I actually bought some blinky bricks last year and they work great and such a good value compared to those specific made kits!

I told the maintenance guy at work to go get a bunce of plugs. Then take the 100' extension cord & cut it into one footers, than he could have any length cord he needed. LOL He almost did it. LOL

You can save lots more when you solder your own lights. A few dollars for each buulding !

I do make my own as well as can be seen with my commission jobs but not everyone wants to solder so this is the next best option.

Thank you for this video! I will be buying these from now on as I hate how expensive the modular kits are. This will now allow me to buy more bricks and sets! Thank you again!

I built a church with stained glass windows. Inside the roof space I placed a battery-powered LED lamp of the type you use inside wardrobes (with three bulbs) held in place by Lego beams. To switch it on you simply put a finger in through the door and press on it. It illuminates the nave and alter perfectly and the effect through the windows is great. I bought a pack of three for about 6 euros. The other two are intended for future projects.

Those are also great for illuminating large skyscrapers

@@BevinsBricksWorld Eliminating or illuminating? For the former I think you need Godzilla. Maybe that will be my next challenge! But you are right as they seem to give a very even light with a good spread. However they are perhaps an inch deep so you need enough space to hide them away.

How do you decide what type of lights to use for interiors?
@BevinsBricksWorld
@BevinsBricksWorld 2 года назад
It's all a matter of preference. For stores I like to use a bright white but for housing I like off-white or yellow.

i'll be honest, the Light My Bricks are expensive. They do that some special brick cables that use contact points to pass power so you don't even need to disconnect the wires between layers. I don't know if Brick Loot and Blinky bricks have them but that is something to keep in mind.

Yeah I feel like the kits always over light the buildings and it looks unrealistic.

Hi Bevin. Hope you don't mind me asking and helping me out, I'm trying to source the extremely thin connector cable wire that fits in between the LEGO studs. Do you know if it has a specific name great video by the way as always :)

Your fine :) this is the wire that I buy and use to make a lot of what I do. amzn.to/3wvM2fQ

Great video! For me, this would disable kids and grand kids playability. But if simply collect, this seems like the best way to go! Great work.

Hi Daryl you also did a great vid on how to make your own lights by sourcing the transformer, leds etc from Amazon, I ordered and yet to build… but it works out even cheaper. And you made an excellent point that in some of the lighting sets, the lights are just too bright, and often you want lights of varying intensity in a moc or modular. I also bought some tubing to encase the copper wire you recommended (McMaster Carr sell it here in US) and it threads through modified plates easily.

Yes doing it yourself is by far the best way. Most people are too afraid to do that though so this would be the next best thing.
