I'll show you how to load a blade into the Wilkinson Sword Straight Edge Razor, a shavette. I recorded a few vids using this razor a while ago & a couple viewers were confused about how the blade loads. This quick demo will make that much more clear.

I started off traditional WetShaving with the classic samurai Shavette. Using that on and off over the years really made the transition to traditional straights that much easier. I still had to learn to hone and all the little nuances about the different grinds, stropping , and different honing techniques. I still have my classic samurai but I when it comes to Shavettes I really only use my CJB KAMASORI.

I had a traditional kami but never got around to using it. I'll admit I found it quite intimidating! If I still have it, I'll give it a go sometime.

Thanks for the Video. This time you got the order right and didn't try to push the blade in AFTER closing the armature like you did in the last video. I also recommend to feel how much force you need to close that armature. Sometimes if you get a new Shavette, that armature isn't tight enough to really lock the blade in place. In that case you simply have to open the armature again and push it together a little bit so that it becomes tighter. What i do is i try to slightly push the blade up with my fingernail after closing the armature. If i can move the blade up like this it's not fully locked. You could probably also use the blade wrapper to to this. Also to me it looks like using the screwdriver with the rubber handle isn't the best way to push the blade in since it looks as if the blade sometimes gets stuck on the rubber and is getting pulled out again. So the wrapper is the best way to do this. Another little quick tip. If you adjust the blade and close the armature, small vibrations could cause the blade to move again before it's locked in place. So always try to hold the shavette in a way so that the blade would slide in against the pins instead of out.

good method, but all in all even if you align it perfectly, even if blade stays pefectly tight (won't come off) you can still if applied nuf force slide it a bit up and down (a bit), from my experience this type of design isn't 100% tight, and it shouldn't be, when you shaving force applied will push blade towards pins and it will self center...only problem I could see if you try to shake whole thing and blade comes off that's not good...conclusion when shaving with straight razor you should not involve so much pressure(force) otherwise you will end up bleeding, that's why this armature holding blade is more than enough

The derby blades are easier to put into the wilkinsonsword shavette than the wilkionsword DE blade but the ws blade is worth the trouble it takes to get them in.

Figuerd id let ya know the full load of that stright blades info incase anyone asks you all those WHO.WHAT.WHEN.WHERE.HOW questions about it. Thanks for the video i jus got a whole set of these cool older shavers even got the steel handle one with the top that comes in to 2 parts to put the blade in so far out all all that companys products ive bin impressed except for the shave soap in the bowl with the wood handled horse hair applicator. Soap drys way to fast and covers the blades with nasty thickish past thats hard to rinse and wash off and the hair falls out of the applicator like a hedgehog liven next to a powerplant from only 3 uses but all the rest im totaly impressed with and impressed with these vids to show me how to properly assemble and use everything safe and easy thank bro

Hey! Tks for watching! After my first video using the WS shavette and the resulting bloodbath, I realized that I hadn't loaded the blade properly. When loaded correctly, there's very little blade exposure. I love how many options there are for shavettes and have grown to enjoy using them.
