The heart doctor I saw asked me what cholesterol medicine I took. I told him bacon grease, he about flipped smooth out. He asked, "You eat bacon grease!!!!!?????". I said well I eat bacon and use the grease to cook other things. The look on his face was priceless. He acted like I committed the ultimate sin. My cholesterol has never been high and I have never taken cholesterol medicine.
I know two people, one was a lifetime vegan, had pain in the chest and hand, was diagnosed with blocked artery and got coronary artery bypass surgery but he is OK now. The other one was a vegetarian and had the same story. Both are in the midlife. I was so surprised.

I used to work with a Vietnamese guy who ate pure fat from pork and he was skinny! I’m like how you stay skinny eating pork fat like that? He ate like that several times a week!
I had my gallbladder removed 18 years ago and the only advice I was given was to not eat anything that tasted good. Low fat, high carb diet and exercise for the past 18 years have caused me to go from 140 lbs to 213. After watching your videos for 2 weeks I started keto and intermittent fasting one month ago. Down 24 lbs, full of energy, no cravings and am not tempted by any of the unhealthy food/drinks I was previously addicted to. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Some people gain weight from that. I got mine taken out, but my metabolism stayed crazy high. I eat everything and can't keep up! Trying to gain weight, but I don't know what to do
Love hearing this type of info from a doctor who actually looks healthy. Some doctors are 300lbs trying to give nutrition advice. Thanks for the video :)
I have Bacon, whole egg with cheese and broccoli every day and go hours without getting hungry again. Sometimes my first meal is at 1 or 2 pm because I just don't feel like eating. I have no sugar and very little carbs and I'm dropping body fat quickly. Best part is that I feel in control of my body and finally know the key to staying lean. Fat makes you skinny. Oh and tastes so much better too.
It sounds counter-intuitive, but, we've been fed so much garbage literally and figuratively I'm doing it. Satisfied AND losing weight. Spinach and bacon rocks!
I'll be 83 on May 2. I was a vegetarian from age 13 to 73. Then my brain snapped back into gear and I became a carnivore. I lost half of my body weight (from 300 pounds to 145). I work out six-days-a-week (weight resistance) and it is not an old-lady wimpy workout. I've been doing intermittent fasting for years (my eating window is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.). I've gained almost complete control over my lifelong eating disorder. I have no problem now with hunger. I eat pork belly almost every day plus an organic green salad (in a bowl larger than my head). Sometimes I eat macadamia nuts. That's it, folks. Men my son's age hit on me and I love it. No Botox or creams or any pathetic anti-aging strategies for me. I feel strong, balanced, beautiful and creative. Eat meat and fat and drink water and keep moving.
+bob bot I save the pure lard in a glass jar and use it to reheat the slices/chunks of pork belly. I don't use seasoning when I cook so the fat is beautiful and clear. I prefer plain cooking and fancy dipping sauces (like sweet-hot home-made mustard).
Marly Harris I cook with boiling water, dry heat or steam. We just got the copperchef frying pans. So far they are the shit. Stuff doesn't stick and cast iron is done. We've had them a month. So who knows.
+bob bot I use my 55-year-old stainless steel frying pan and a bit of lard to cook so nothing sticks. I'm not trying to cut down on fat so cooking is simple and the food is delicious.
1 pound of bacon and 4 whole eggs are part of my daily eating plan. This has worked perfectly for losing fat and staying lean, as well as building muscle mass.
I generally don't believe my cholesterol level tells me much about my health. I am around 190 total cholesterol when I get blood work done. I guess that would fall in what they consider the "normal healthy" range.
Dr Berg, you just diagnosed my problem, I was having sugar cravings after dinner, I was grazing all day!!!! Thank you 1 month of following your programme I have dropped 14lbs!!!. More energy, sleep better, no cravings, fat going from my belly and hips!!! I don't snack between meals now at all!!! Thank you so much, you share your knowledge so openly you are a Genuinely nice gentleman!!!! I will continue to eat this way as Carbs were upsetting my whole system!
Just follow the governments food pyramid and you will die quickly. Look at fact, Fat pieces of garbage everywhere in 2023. From 2 to 65 years old!Who are you kidding.@@Laycho123
It all makes perfect sense. My dad, when he was alive here, never got fat and ate red meat , tons of it, his whole life. He didn't have high blood pressure - he died from smoking.
Thank you so much dr berg, I wake up and I'm not hungry until 4 pm then I eat avocados and tuna salad with olives and organic butter, and a glass of water with real lemons, God bless.

This video literally saved my life. Thank you, Dr. Berg. I was 305 pounds, depressed and always tired. I asked a friend of mine who had type 1 diabetes if I could do a blood sugar test because I felt like fainting that day. It was above 300. I knew I had to do something. I searched RU-vid and saw the magic word, Bacon! After viewing many of your videos, I was convinced that the Keto diet was for me. The mass media and government never seem to have mentioned or support it so I knew I found the right one. Thanks to you, my blood sugar is under 100 and now I’m 219 pounds and I feel 100% better! I eat only grass-fed beef and cheese. I hate vegetables with a passion but thanks to your instance kale shake powder, I can blend it with actual kale and drink it. It’s better than nothing. You have saved a lot of lives, don’t ever forget that.
@@dajosee Sugar is a legalized drug. The more you eat it, the more you want it because of its addictive qualities. The more currency you spend to buy it, the more taxes the government gets. The political drug dealers getting rich off of getting the average American fat and depressed. I'm SO going to buy bacon this week! I've spent years being afraid to eat it. Thank you so much Dr Berg for educating us about nutrition and health. I am learning so much from your videos.
I'm literally speechless Dr Eric (yes literally mouth open in awe), this is counter what we have been told since I was young. I'm really loving your series of videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
My grandfather used to eat tablespoons, yes several spoonfuls, of real cow butter every morning after his fried eggs and bacon, he passed away at the age of 81 in 1970 from kidney failure. Not any heart problems. By the way this was before they had kidney dialysis.
School lied to me about most things. Tv lied to me about everything. I have been eating only fats for 2 weeks and feel much better than the cereals fruit toast and so called fruit juice i was brainwashed by school to eat as a child. Hopefully its not too late to save my fatty liver. Id been to several doctors and they all told me there was nothing wrong except i was a little fat and i needed more excersise. They didnt care that i told them i was getting huge amounts of physical excersise from work. I have most likely been living with a fatty liver since i was 13. I am now 37. I cant thank you enough dr. berg for giving me real advice.
I don’t count calories. I just eat until fully satiated. Animal proteins are the most satiating for me. Beef and eggs are amazingly nutritious and satiating. I never under eat. I do eat vegetables with net carb less than 5. I avoid fruits because they have too much sugar, natural sugars are still sugars, no difference. I don’t snack. I don’t feel obligated to eat because someone offers me something, that’s absurd. Social gatherings don’t change what I eat. I don’t reward myself with food. I eat to live, not live to eat. I don’t workout in preparation for holiday eating or special events because I eat the same way all the time. It’s my lifestyle. If my foods are not available, I fast. I’ve tried do more eat less. I’ve done the whole grain and low fat eating. I’ve done the six small hand size meals. All have failed me because they left me hungry and craving foods. When I removed most and even all carbs, I thrived. With minimal no gym membership exercises in the first 6 months I lost 70lbs, at my one year I lost 104lbs. Self control and commitment are huge part.
Torsten Tangleis thank you for your comment!! The very idea of small meals makes me so angry, because that is doing nothing except stimulating Insulin, which increases our potential "need" for drugs and prescription insulin, not to mention all the health complications.
I lost 27 pounds in the last 11 months by intermittent fasting and am at a great weight now . A perfect weight ! Finally a lifestyle where the weight basically fell off and I completely stopped eating "diet " food . Changed my life ! I consider myself a former Dieter ! Dr. Berg you are sooo right !
It doesn't matter what type of information anyone puts out, there will always be opposing views, but as a healthcare professional myself, I really appreciate the information and personally find it to be spot on. As far as pork, I don't eat it, but I do understand your point about consuming fat, not necessarily only pork. Thank you!
Dr Berg - I have been on Keto for exactly 4 months and lost 43 lbs plus incredible health improvements to many to lisr here. These videos like this are what help to tie the balloons together and make sense of everything. We have all been brainwashed about nutrition and you are fixing this. Bacon indeed is NOT the villan it was in mt parents day. It is a solution. Also, personally, I cannot overemphazise the importance of IF and prolonged fasting 24 hours or even 48 or a once in a while 72 hour fast. I had no idea the incredible results achieved and the reality of how much less food the human body needs in relationship to what the mouth tells us to eat. I use a number of your products and want people to know that your electrolyter 1,000 mg potassium powder is excellent. I use it daily but it helps balance me out during extended fasts when a person feels light headed . It is all about potassium and minerals as you say. People tend to shy away from extended fasts because they think they are hungry and getting dizzy, but not true. I suggest people listen to this video more than once to let it sink in. I had and am still struggling with IR, but it is going away. As you have said before, we all need to find what exactly works for us, and with me, cutting the carbs down to almost zero is the ticket for now. It is nearly impossible for an overweight person NOT to have great sustained success on Keto once if they follow your videos and are honest with themselves about their eating habits. "INSULIN CONVERTS SUGAR INTO BAD CHOLESTEROL AND TRRIGLICERIDES" - This is the quote of the year.
Thanks for busting the myth of eating small meals all day long to keep your metabolism going....creating insulin resistance!WOW just this alone changes everything
Keywords at the end of the video, “High quality Bacon” I assume he means Non-pesticide Non-GMO Organic natural bacon. So yea. Just putting that out there. ☺️
@@TheEnigmaticDeenTruth no. Pork is not you’re only option. Turkey and chicken and salmon and shrimp are also options so long as their healthy and natural and toxic metal free.
4:10 - 4:58 ... Most solid and simplest advice I've always heard about weight loss, but everyone wants that magic bullet ... 1. If you're not hungry; don't eat! 2. Don't snack/graze on snacks between meals. 3. Don't eat after dinner.
This video is just bait to make you spot the fact that fat is healthy. Read more about ketogenic diet, insulin resistance etc. and youll find huge thing.
This guy trips me out! I get a kick out of the cut away to him eating bacon, then winking at the camera had me rolling!!! Thank you for posting. Keep em' coming!
Said it before and I will say it again...I have a man crush on Dr Berg. So much respect for what he is doing and how he does it. What a great leader and wonderful person.
Love the videos. They are pure genius. Very well explained and makes sense. I've lost 5kg in two weeks with intermittent fasting. Will add some bacon to the evening meal as well as increasing the potassium. Thanks Doc.
I never felt so good as I do until I increased the animal fat. Feel happier, losing weight, increased energy, and better brain power. The best thing I've done was to up my fat intake!
I just finished another 40 water fast. Not bragging, just putting it into context. This is the 4th completed 40 day water fast. I still have to go to work during the 40 days. I still have to tend to my marriage (30 years). I still continue focusing on my 4 children and the raising them. They need their dad, my wife needs her husband, my company needs the boss, my clients need my help. I don't tell people that I am fasting, it really isn't there business. I have to focus on doing what I need to do, get my rest and drink about 2 gallons of filtered water every single day. No supplements, maybe some salt added in the water and some potassium. After 5 days or so your hunger goes away. Somehow your body starts to produce energy. I am not a doctor so I can not explain how this works. I can only share what I have experienced. I hope you can be encouraged that it can be done. At first your body will do whatever it can to stop you through feeling completely miserable. Then after about 5 days you start to feel comfortable. AS LONG AS YOU DRINK ENOUGH WATER!!!! One thing that surprises me is that no matter how much water you drink, you will always be thirsty. I have to do everything during the fast with focus. I have pace myself, stay hydrated, get my sleep (which is very important). So, IS IT DANGEROUS????? Not for me, but you have to decide for yourself. If you are afraid then go talk to a doctor, he might make you not be afraid. And tell you not to do a water fast. I don't talk to doctors, especially the one that are over weight or the ones that smoke and then tell you how to live my life. Something doesn't seem right about the genius doctor who isn't healthy telling me how to be healthy. Anyways give water fasting a chance. I guarantee you won't regret it. If you can get past the fear you will be blessed. Besides GOOGLE how many people water fast, there are many more people than you think who do it more than one time. Not for spiritual reasons JUST for health reasons. If they are not dying then you don't have to be afraid. Water fasting is not for everyone, just the strong people who aren't afraid.
The most surprising thing is that ALL of my bloodwork and blood pressure is PERFECT! I take absolutely NO medications and I feel FANTASTIC! Believe me, I was surprised, too. Thank you for your concern.
I am not a doctor. I can only tell you what I did. My grandfather lived to be 97 and ate bacon and eggs cooked in bacon grease EVERY MORNING until he passed away. We have eaten animal/fat for 1,000s of years. We have just begun to eat plant-based oils/fats for only a short time compared to the human timeline. High insulin from high sugar, high carb is what causes heart disease. Personally, I believe it is much wiser to avoid high insulin producing foods. I proved to myself that low-carb diet with higher fats (some animal, some plant) have helped me tremendously. Best of luck to you finding the best diet for you,
Started keto 3 months back. Bacon my favorite food and consumed every day. First week of keto and gout swelling/pain gone and has not returned. Weight has decreased by 8 Pounds. BP down from 145/78 t0 120/72. Sleep is better. Lovin It! SUGAR (from natural or anywhere)is the bad guy....
Bacon and ketosis are good. Fats are good , now when people say all kinds of bad things, well of course it can be bad if your wolfin down carbs, sugar and then slam some bacon on top of it. Your already storing fat, not in ketosis, so whether its bacon or anything else, your already getting fat. Ketosis is the process of switching to fat burning. Simple, eat fat cause your bodies burning it
Hello. Thank you for making this video. I love bacon, especially doing the keto diet/ lifestyle. I just wanted to mention, I use an air fryer to cook my bacon - I spray it with Virgin Olive Oil - It drains away a lot of the excess grease from the food then I pat the bacon dry with paper towels - takes more grease away. I cook a lot of bacon all at once. I cut them into small pieces, eat some save some for later. The saved smaller pieces make great snacks.
So true. If I eat a slice of bread with two eggs, avocado and bacon or ham, I can do a 100km mountain bike ride without starving after 50km. With oatmeal this won't work.
Love your videos doctor Berg but this one has got to be the best ever. So much amazing and contrarian information to what we have been told to do by the medical community. Thank you!
I gained 20 lbs as a vegan. Swear to God. I ate SO many carbs - rice, pasta, potatoes, potatoes and more potatoes. I cannot believe how much weight i gained. My "healthy" diet was making me miserable (and ugly). I finally said, hell no, and went back to dairy and limited meat. I feel so much better.
mbear1. I gained alot of weight aa well, it wouldn't come off. Maybe too many fruits not enough veggies. But when i switched to keto, the weight ws melting off, it was crazy. Felt so good to each some meats again.
I am doing 18/6 I no longer eat low-fat! I have more energy than I have had in decades!! I am sleeping better than I have in 40 years! 72 years old and finally finding out that fasting is the best thing you can do for your body... And eating high fat foods help you lose weight! When I was eating low fat I was always hungry always eating... When I am fasting I am never hungry!!! It's an absolute miracle!
Awesome video again we have been totally misled over the years i for one thank you so much I'll be totally honest it's very hard to change one's eating habits at my age 69 years old but I'm trying very hard thank you so much 🙋♂️
ive eaten full fat bacon my whole life as part of my diet for breakfast and lunch and im UNDERWEIGHT and feel healthy and energetic and love working out
I'm actually doing this...have been for 3 months and just stumbled onto this video. I can tell you it works!! I've lost 40 lbs (220 down to 180 and dropping!). DR. Berg, I’m a yoga instructor and been on a vegetarian/vegan diet for quite sometime now. I’m currently in Rishikesh, North of India, where the origin of yoga is. Here, the only option is vegetarian. Ghee is abundant from homemade to store brand. Eggs is the only thing that is not vegan and ghee. I didn’t have much carbs in my diet since back in the US only quinoa from time to time. But the last three weeks, I started fasting 1-2 days plus intermittent fasting in between and low back pain went away. I’m very fit and healthy, yoga daily and active but couldn’t figure out why the pain keeps escalating. I knew it was food but my food intake is very limited. I don’t snack and never liked sweet since I was a child. Drink only warm water with squeezed lemon or just water itself. But since fasting body ache is now gone, WOw! Ive been eating 3-4 eggs daily with increase ghee intake. I have more energy. I don’t digest legumes too well so that has been a big issue for me when switched to vegan/vegetarian. What do you suggest Dr for the time being. When I get back to the USA then keto diet would be much easier. Thank you kindly :)
I have been following this Good Doctor's advice since the second week in May. It is now the second week in July. I have lost 40 lbs . 205 lbs down to 165 lbs . I really wasn't paying that much attention to what was happening to my body untill around a month into I realized my pants were way to big in the waist when I reached to open my car door and my pants fell, fell to the ground . Happily embarrassed I bent over suddenly realizing. damn, I can bend over. Pulled up my pants went back in the house and put some new holes in my belt. Thank you bacon. Thank You Dr Berg.

Certainly the best explanation I have ever heard! Lots of quality information explained in a clear way! I love it ! I actually feel quite wise after listening to the Doc! Thanks!
Awesome video :-) I sometimes eat Bacon by the pound... lol However, I do not eat Processed bacon. Here in Canada there are now companies that make bacon from Antibiotic Free animals and contain NO Nitrites or other preservatives... It's often hard to find as it sells-out before I get there... I also eat 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil, every morning and use Organic, Unsalted Butter... Btw, I used to be Diabetic... I found that most people are looking for a Magic Pill to cure their diabetes... Diet, Nutrition and a change in Life-style is the Magic Pill... I have stopped using Metformin and opted for Apple Cider Vinegar (They do the same thing). Moreover, ACV does not adversely affect the Kidneys and helps to detox the Liver... If I should go out with my buddies for a few, I might take a bit of Insulin if my Blood-sugar goes over 9 (Canadian measurement), but generally my B/S never goes over 8... Having said all of that, after seeing this video... (Probably, the best, I have ever seen), Gotta watch it again and Share it. I need to get it to sink in... It is such a radical idea and it makes so much sense, I love it :-) Thanks for making it :-) That's the basis for another Book... Go fer it... :-) Two things, I should have mentioned... 1) I snack on Bacon... I like it Crispy but not burned... I cook it at a little less than Medium as not to Oxidize the "Renderings" - Bacon Drippings... I save the drippings and keep them in a labeled jar, in the fridge... Why? 2) As a child, my European friends would smear Bacon Drippings over a piece of Black Rye Bread and sprinkle some Organic salt over it and eat it like that... Like a Lard Sandwich... Go figure... However, I found I had Energy to spare and loved the taste...Bacon has a small amount of Magnesium but the lard sandwich improves by adding Himalayan Salt... It's not only good for energy, but also for the Heart and Muscles... Go Crazy :-)
I think I am insulin resistant. I am trying an experiment where I only eat around 8 - 9 hours throughout the day and not consume anything but coffee or tea during the other 15 - 16 hours. I only started yesterday, so we will see how this works.
Coffee and tea has "water in it" but, is not water. Caffeine is a vaso-constrictor which means it raises your blood pressure. Every liquid "has water", does this mean that soda and beer is good for you? No, no it's not.
just been diagnosed at 73 with diabetic 2 , its probably building up my whole life i ate everything , now will follow dr berg to the letter , i exercise but always snacked that is over now , two meals a day eggs, avocado , bacon will be there
Dr.Berg, your presentation makes complete sense. We know from the study of traditional Inuit (Eskimo) societies that subsisted mostly on blubber and meat from seals and whales, that civilizational diseases of abundance such as type II diabetes and atherosclerosis were virtually unheard of, prior to the encroachment of the modern western diet into their communities. Yet when these people began eating as modern westerners do, they began to show the same disorders related to insulin over-secretion.
It is great how healthy fats can fill you up I never thought i could eat only 2 meals a day but now I do I’m a chocolate junkie BUT with healthy fats less carbs and salads I can be member of Chocolate Anonymous and not miss chocolate I do eat it sometimes but much less often .My A1C took a nosedive when i restricted carbs
@@barbaramoran8690 I have gone on the carnivore diet and I've never felt better. I'm not eating any carbs anymore. I've lost 37 pounds and I have health problems that have gone away that I would have never attributed to what I was eating.

No need to bash this guy; it is true people come with exactly opposite advice for health problems. Obviously you cannot have everyone taking the same diet because people need different things based on their body chemistry. RT Clincy ignore these people who are insulting you. I can relate to what he's saying. I was 260 3 yrs ago now am 210 and feel finally in control of what and how much i eat. My cravings used to dictate what i would eat, how often and how much I would buy. My grocery bills were outrageous. Food is an addiction plain and simple and a very expensive one. I used to eat a large quantity but mostly sugary things like cereal. Now things like eggs, steaks, bacon and chicken wings have made it so i only want to eat once a day and then I get full quickly. My food bill is a token of what it used to be.
