Today we are installing the complete 5.3/4l60e dropout from out silverado into the 1981 C20 Pickup. We used our cheap SBC-LS engine mounts and everything fit perfect! Theres alot of work left to do but we've handled alot of the hard work so far.

I’m a big fan of the Tejas motor mounts for square bodies. Keeps the motor high so that deep oil pan is flush with the crossmember and you can keep the factory ac compressor location if you want. They do usually require a new driveshaft though, whether cut down from the donor vehicle or full custom.

I used the LSX Innovations swap plates and stock 5.7 clam shells. My th350 driveshaft slipped right in and fit perfectly. The ones i used are also adjustable so you can fine tune the fitment

Just so you know those adaptor plates are backwards but don't listen to the haters, you can do it that way and sometimes it's even stronger. I've done a lot of those swaps and yours is pretty easy even with the A/C. The earlier swaps, '72 and back, need to be raised an inch because of contact with the drag link and the pan hangs under the frame crossover. Nice work, use your choice of electric pump with the Corvette regulator/filter and run a dead head fuel system and you're in. There's also extended driveshaft yokes available for the transmission so you won't have to spring for a new driveshaft. Speedway or Ebay can help you out.

Youre right about it being backwards. I think flipping it will actually push the trans ~1 inch back which might be just enough for me. I'm going to play with them. I have a full fuel system I'll be testing and making a video on soon. Thanks!

Nice work. I am currently working on the 96-2000 black box to 0411 computer swaps because I have several vortec engines. I'll be using HP tuners for the tuning. After those projects are done, I'll be getting on with the LS swaps, so I'm definately looking forward to your videos..

They make longer than stock yokes for the 4l60 so you don't have to buy a whole drive shaft. Just get the extended yoke.

Your adapter plates are on backwards. If you flip them, you'll move the engine back 11/2 inches, and not have to change driveshafts. You'll still have to notch for the ac, but everything will work

For you a/c notch out then box in frame mines a c20 1974 lq9 t400 gear vender and I shorten frame to take short bed it is crew cab

I’m confused on which mount and bracket will work with these adapter plates. ICT says I have to use 350 mounts and the engine bracket weather bbc or sbc. The bbc brackets are taller than the sbc brackets. I bought new sbc mounts. Do I need sbc engine brackets ?

Hope you don't me saying 454 andc350 in a c20 the mount tha go from the frame to the crossmember are different and I notch my crossmember for ac

Check the description for the link. I set them on the holes closest to front of the engine which would put the engine as far back as possible

I don't know if I missed it I'm trying to figure out what oil pan I can run for my square body swap and what brand motor mount plates you used? Great information in the videos Man highly appreciated

I used generic Amazon motor mount plates. But if you go on ebay and lookup c10 LS swap mounts there's some other cheap ones that work even better with sliders and will put the engine exactly where the original was. Also if your looking to lower the vehicle a f body oil pan helps clear the underside. If not stock truck pans fit just fine

Wondering if you were to put ac on if it would affect the mount of refrigerant in the system. I'm sure a square body and modern truck have slightly different capacities.

It would depend on which system you use. If the square body didn't have ac you go off of the condenser and compressor of the new system

i plan on taking out a 5.7 vortec and replacing it with a 5.3ls in my 1999 gmc c1500 what all will i need besides motor mounts?

Did u have any issues with the stock ls engine oil pan hanging too low from the bottom? Im starting my 5.3 ls swap on my 1966 c10 soon.. Thanks for your videos.

Not on a standard height truck. On a lowered one I can possibly see that happening so I reccomend the LS "muscle car pan. I believe it's a Holley 302-2 pan

Hopefully last question. How did you wire the alternator? Which wire from the truck did you wire to the alternator?

I haven't done that yet but if my memory is correct it's a one wire alternator and you just need the brown? Alt excitor wire I can't remember what pin in the ecu it is though

What's your take on the dirty dingo motor mounts for the square body? That's what I was going to go with but they also say you need to notch the frame for low mount ac. I'm hoping I will have enough movement with the mounts to use at least the stock transfer case cross mount.

If I'm not mistaken, Tejas mounts will fit stock ac compressor. I have no hands on experience with them though

Did you find that having the exhaust manifolds off made it easier to drop in and bolt to the mounts?

On the passenger side I did, it can be done without it but it's easy to put them back on

@@JovaniDanteGriego Ok. I got the 5.3 installed. Bolted to the th350. The engine brackets on the adapter plates has the engine pretty far back. The a/c is a def no. But the 5.3 is in. Thanks for the video and knowledge.

Actually looks more pain in the rear you guys get different motor mounts you got to get a different wiring harness you got to move your transmission mount up you got to get a different drive shaft that seems a lot of work

I think so unless you go with Tejas steelworks mounts I think they say 4wd/2wd

U thick that 4l60 would strong?... Doing a ls swap on my 87 crew cab dually...and yes..u can used the OG exhaust from the 5.3..keep up with ur videos..one more think, I got a 4.10 meybe urs is the same...4l80 is the ticket

Or you just buy the $99 flexplate and adapter to keep the better th400. Then you want have to add to the driveshaft.

@@acollins9277 Basically you have 2 harnesses, you keep the LS harness and either get it stripped down or strip it down yourself, youll then connect a hot, ground and 12v switched power to the ls harness. All the c10 harness stayes intact, you can tuck away or cut any of the wires you dont use.
