My favorite way to get patches in this concertless world is to personally reach out to the band online, tell them I’d love to support them, and ask where to buy merch. They always get so happy when you message them directly, and when the merch arrives they throw in extra goodies and handwritten thank you notes.

Here in Finland we cut out ears in moshpits and put them on our jackets.

Actually the whole back will be covered with Motorhead as a tribute to the Man himself since it's his birthday in a day from now. Even did a couple of custom patches with my own designs. Met Lemmy twice and damn, those were the best times of my life. But yeah, while everyone busy celebrating Christmass, the squad and I are celebrating Lemmy starting from 24th and ending on 28th completely wasted. Been a tradition since 2015 when he passed.

I did geek jackets instead. Comic Cons, comic book stores, online through amazon or e-bay, flea markets, I got all sorts. I'd like to say that my geek kuttes are not just a reflection of what I like (Star Trek, old school sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, etc), but they're inspired by heavy metal battlejackets. I love my jacket, even more so since I sewed the patches myself.

I look at band websites first, I try get authentic licensed patches first, then eBay and etsy. You can use bing and google after that and may find obscure metal webistes with merch that way. General eBay tip; put item you want in your Watchlist, often if you wait 2 or 3 days you'll get an automatic private offer of 5%-10% off items.

I have that same Exmortus patch. I haven’t actually watched the video yet and still don’t have time, but I started the video and that caught my eye. I watched a bit more, and holy fuck, that Skeletonwitch patch is sick. Oh, I have that Invicta patch too. I should probably just go ahead and stop watching until I can watch all the way. Once I get my first battle jacket, first few patches I'm getting patches of Warbringer, Nile, Goatwhore, Iron Maiden, Children Of Bodom and the backpatch of Amon Amarth.

Saw online one old post that said "battle jackets should not cross genre or be personally customised (specific metal genre only)" which I already failed at because I started making/buying custom patches of my own funky designs and bands I like. I dunno about you guys, but. I'd rather wear a bunch of bands I like from different sub genres than a bunch of bands I don't know just to fit with the theme of one of the bands I like.

So what's the consensus of mixing genres/patches on a jacket? I have a lot sewn on mine that are punk, metal, classic rock (the majority are from live shows, minus the classic rock)

A serious question. I like other genres other than metal and metal sub genres. Mainly metalcore, nu-metal, punk, darkwave, and some goth bands. Would it be mega dumb if I made a battle jacket that had a clusterfuck of patches from all different genres?
