Okay first of all , YOURE AMAZING. I’ve been wanting a custom carbon fiber steering wheel for my car but the prices are like $600-$1600. I have a Honda I’m not paying that LOL. Now I’ll be able to do it myself. You deserve a million subscribers. Wish you a very prosperous 2020. Tomorrow I’m going to the junkyard and getting a second steering wheel 🦾
Thank you so much. I have a lot of courage and hope in your comments. I will make good videos !! I hope you will make good carbon fiber steering wheel! If you have any question, please comment. Thank you for watching.
ECO-LAP Studio I’m sure I will have questions so thank you. I saw your other video on how to fix carbon fiber when it gets damaged. Glad to know you are safe and well 🤘🏽💪💪
i agree with you broo.... carbon fiber custom parts is carzy expensive..... i have a bmw too and i wanted to change some parts with carbon fiber. now, i can save a lot of money cuz of you (ECO -LAP Studio) and get started making my own carbon fiber custom parts... respect for you bro...
For any one starting carbon work and is serious in it take a few extra bucks and buy a inexpensive vac pump and some bagging materials along with some release film. This will make your work much easier. For very complex parts that you are trying to laminate to a little cheat trick is wet down the surface first with epoxy and wait until its very tacky then apply cloth. This will keep the inside corners or wrap in place. Some beginners use a very light coat of 3m spray adhesive and stick cloth to that then wet down with epoxy. When i first started I did a few boat hulls this way and it actually worked very well. To ECO LAB thanks for your dedication and hard work. I know first hand its not easy to du these tasks let alone recording step by step. Hope you are safe and well thanks.
@@kobothehobo1 you're a moron dude. He did remove the shrink wrap and it definitely did it's job. Too bad you don't have the balls to ever accomplish this.
Ordinary chaps like me working 17 hr a day to pay bills can now afford carbon fiber steering wheel. My friend, I salute you. It was always a dream of mine to do something like this and now you teach me. My wallet and my car salute you again.
Yes, I wish I could see more detail and close ups of everything more. On the other hand you did an amazing job ! Kudos. It turned out awesome. I guess I didnt realize how easy it is to make stuff from carbon fiber. I have 1 question. Can you see the edges of that shrink film still? I assume danding took care of them but I was just curious.
because the finished product was ass... you could tell that the thickness was never gonna match when you put leather back on the steering wheel... he did do good job too bad he missed one crucial part of making it well
Hello, Buddy! Thanks for the compliment. I will try to make more enjoyable and informative videos. Thank you for watching. Please look forward to the next video!
WOW!!!!!! you have my greatest gratitude. You have inspired me to wrap the wing on my Porsche 991 turbo. You have saved me tens of thousands of dollars with your videos. Thank you very much.
Please upload some videos where you introduce us to the methods and tools required to work with carbon fiber( for beginners who want to get into it). That would be very helpful.
Hi! Found your channel looking for BMW M4 content and carbon! 😆 Seat backs have been done, but ive always wanted a carbon version of the seat fold-forwards handle and trim around it.... For a future vid? 🤓
Awesome video! I’m currently doing mine. But where do you find the shrink film at ? The ones Im finding people are telling me it’s not the same as what you are using
ASMR + carbon fiber fabrication is something I never knew I needed until now. Thank you. Most of your videos are fairly recent so I hope your channel blows up and gets the popularity it deserves for such pleasant videos. Would you mind sharing the link to the blue hand pump you use in some of your projects? With the little white connector? Thank you
Hello, Buddy! Thank you so much. The pumps and vacuum bags I use are for clothes and food. I make carbon fiber as one that is readily available. I think you can get it easily. I'm will make a fun and informative video. Stay tuned to my channel. Thank you for watching.
Hey! Love the vid! Was wondering, what’s something I could wrap the wheel in before I wrap it in carbon fiber? I want the carbon fiber and alcantaro to be more level with eachother. Thanks!
Is there any difference between epoxy gelcoat and hardner you applied as first layer and epoxy and hardner you applied afterwards other than difference in pigment colour?
Absolutely love your work and dedication . A possible future project ... Could you do a Carbon fiber motorcycle fuel tank? Specifically a sport bike fuel tank ? Would love to learn more about making a leak proof carbon fiber container
Your AMAZING and ur video very inspiration to me :D I would like to do some part but during this time i don't have the all required material.i would like your help about first coat In 2:24 can i use epoxy resin as first coat ? rather than epoxy gelcoat ?
excellent my friend i follow all your videos, excuse me, i have a question, when you put gel coat after carbon fiber do you wait until dry ? then you put resin epoxy, thank you very much best regards from Mexico
hi Eco-la[ studio, I noticed that you used a pre-made steering wheel cover and just cut it, did you cut it at the seams? im actually looking for a steering wheel cover before i get started and all of them have atleast 2 seams (sewn together)
So cool to see the production process! Is forged carbon applied the same way? Just bought a custom wheel from Taw Customs for my Audi. Really excited. Great job again!
Hello, Buddy! Forged carbon fibers aren't too different either. In order to make forged carbon fiber, compression is required. Shrink film plays a role. I hope your work goes well. Thank you for watching.
Hi, thanks for the amazing video! I have tried to do a steering wheel on my own but I faced a little problem. When the wheel is under a direct sunlight or any other light source, the resin looks very dusty, like it is full of white dust. There are almost no clear spots. When no lighting it looks great. If you can tell me what that is and how to avoid it next time I will be very grateful. Thanks!
Hello, Buddy! I think you applied it too thickly when applying epoxy resin. When the epoxy resin is applied thickly, white bubbles appear inside. When applying epoxy resin, it is important to apply a thin layer several times. When applying epoxy resin several times, it should be applied once every 2-3 hours when it is half cure. I hope my advice will help you. Thank you for watching.
I want to modify the thumb grips, what material do you think I would need in order to get that squishy material that are used in stock steering wheels.
Who da f**k is hitting unlike on this diy. Enjoy the video, this guy is doing something he loves and sharing it with us. Hope you get more subscribers. 👍
thanks for the vid. What brand of resin are you using ? I can see theres a non-UV one and the top coat is UV-resistant. Im using only the UV one but its not cheap. Can you tell us the brand and where to buy it? Cheers :)
Hello, Buddy! I use some epoxy resins. Among them are laminated epoxy resins and Anti UV topcoat epoxy resins. I use these two the most. I bought an epoxy resin at a Korean online shop. However, Korean online shops do not ship overseas. I'll give you a UK online shop. You will find what you want. www.easycomposites.co.uk/
I have a custom F80 wheel with leather on it. It is hard to the touch unlike the OEM BMW. Would I be OK putting the carbon matting directly on top of the leather rather than stripping it off?
Hello, Buddy! I don't think that most heat shrinkable films are very different. However, It is not necessary to use a heat shrink film. You can meticulously attach the carbon fiber. I hope you helpful.
@@ECOLAPStudio Thank you very much for the information, I appreciate your help and I would like you to show us how to make the front boot door in carbon would be a spectacular video! It would be very interesting if you put the links where the materials are purchased please!
Very cool! Did you remove the heat shrink film, or are you able to leave it on and epoxy over it? Can you provide a link to the film? I have never seen that product before.
Блин обожаю смотреть твои видео !!!! В движении рук есть некий юмор )))))!!!! За одно учусь ,так сам на стадии всего этого дела !!! Если можно будет получать от вас консультации ,буду очень рад !!!!
Great video. I was wondering how to wrap the parts with carbon and make it have a nice touching point when both ends touch. Did you simply overlap them and then sand the extra? How do you keep the carbon from distorting its weave, biggest help is the gel? After you remove the heatshrink and start sanding isn't there exposed carbon that you damage since there isn't much resin? Thank you.
Hello, buddy!! Thanks for the comment. I think your questions are very important and good. First, as you say, I think the important thing in carbon fiber overlap cutting is to keep carbon fiber patterns. I used spray adhesives to solve the problem. Using a spray adhesives can keep the carbon fiber patterns. But, You have to use minimum amount because if you use too much spray adhesives, surface is not clean. Other methods include applying epoxy resins and then cut after half cured. But I think it is a hassle way. And then in the first sanding,It exactly damaged to the carbon fiber cloth. However, if you minimize the damage and then apply epoxy resin, the damage is indistinguishable from the eyes. Sanding to the extent that carbon fiber patterns are not damaged is be okay. The important thing is keeping the pattern of carbon fiber. I am worried you will can't understand my meaning because I am not good at English. I hope you helpful. If you have more question, please reply. Thank you for watching.
Do you have a list of products used. And also where can you find empty steering wheels like you did on your video. I want to practice with a blank one vs using my own and messing it up. Also what did you do with the heated steering wheel option? Did you leave it connected?
Hello, Buddy! I have two steering wheels. One is the stock handle and the other is the Alcantara steering wheel. So I worked with stock steering wheel. I think you can get a steering wheel for your car from eBay, etc. I did not connect the steering heating wire. It is very difficult to connect the steering heating wire. Perhaps you need to make a new heating wire. So I didn't. Thanks for watching.
Hello, Buddy! I purchased materials from a Korean online shop. However, Korean online shops do not ship overseas. So I'm going to show you an online shop in the UK. www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/vacuum-equipment-and-supplies/vacuum-bagging-consumables/composites-shrink-tape.html It cannot be replaced with plain transparent tape.

Hi. Great work! A have two questions about wheel laminating: 1. Please show us how to align two edges of the carbon fiber? 2. What about steering wheel heater which was integrated into leather cover?
Hello, Buddy! I'm sorry i can't speak english well "Please show us how to align two edges of the carbon fiber?" I couldn't quite understand this meaning. The steering wheel heater has been removed. I thought it would be possible to transplant the genuine cover heat into new leather. However, I didn't think it was necessary. The genuine BMW Alcantara steering wheel has no heater. I hope you helpful.
Hi bud..I enjoyed watching it Can you share list of products you used exactly? Like slow cure of medium cure epoxy? Etc..looking to buy a whole setup necessary for this same process.. Thanks!

Can you provide a link to a supply list or starter materials needed, I would like to start making small items. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!
