Save your $$. Don't spend 1000's on an ice tub. This is the best way to do it for a reasonable price. Tested for over 2 years now. Help me fuel more content: www.buymeacoffee.com/howtowit...
I just bought the 100 gal rubermaid stock tank and like it. It`s 25" high so that`s good and allowed me to get it through a doorway into my screened in porch. Note the drain plug is a plastic pipe with internal threads and external threads which allows for two size hoses. The internal is 1 1/4 and the external is not 1 1/2. You can always reduce to 3/4 and use a garden hose. That just takes longer to drain. About 30 minutes if you need to drain the water away from the tank.
This is the best solution, especially for someone that loves to build. Since I live in the Los Angeles area I will need to add a chiller for the summer months... thanks for the great tip!
Yeah ok so this is very specific to climate. Most people in the US will have to spend a crazy amount of money on ice with an uninsulated tub. I live in an area where I wouldn't need a chiller during the winter and early spring but things get warm the rest of the year. If you want a reliable cold plunge just spend the money on a chiller and an insulated box for the Rubbermaid stock tank. Throw some Epsom salts in with an insulated circulating chiller setup and you'll be good year round.
I feel like I just got trolled. You mean I can guy a big tub, fill it with water in the colder months and have cold water? Seriously? The issue is the warmer months and building something that has a cooling system.
Yes lol. This was my temp setup for now. Insulate around it. Add ice. Freeze bottles etc. so do r have to buy it. It will work great during summer. Cooling systems will get pricy. But always an option
I live in FL and was considering doing this tub but burying it up to just a few inches from the top to help insulate it. For the top I'd use some type of radiant barrier insulation. Putting it in the shade and adding a powered cooler should keep it pretty cold.
@@TheW83 great idea. I was thinking of doing that too maybe. if you do burry it that works, just will have to change water once in a while , so probably get a pump etc for that. besides that, great plan.
