I was in DIRE need of a new wallet and thought it would be fun to try to make one of those fancy minimalist wallets you see an the interwebs. I had some fun with it and made it pull double duty as my business card! This was a super fun and simple build. Hope you enjoy!

Between QR, NFC and Linktree theres nothing that wallet cant do. And you can glue RFID blockers between the layers if you put payment cards in it

It's always a good time when i get to watch a new SkillTree video on my lunch break! I have some chrome leather squares (approx 6") I thrifted and have been looking for a good project. This seems promising.

I've been using the dot card in my wallet for a similar RFID effect. I found that since many of my credit cards also have RFID I had to add blocking material. I've actually designed a wallet with Faraday fabric bonded to the inside of the leather to protect the payment card info and allow the Dot card to work.

I like this idea though over the years I have made my wallet less and less. Matter of fact I only have 5 cards. Main credit card, back up credit card, bank card, Insurance card and my ID. I have one of those super thin wallets that fit on your phone. Since there is never a reason to be with out my phone I will never be with out my wallet again. I do think if I ordered a few more cases I could rip them apart and build something just a bit better. I would so love to have something raised out like those books you did some time ago!

To piggyback off the person under me wanting a desert version of the cloak, would you consider doing any suzak-mar style builds? I dont know if I'll ever get to travel to a Reckoning event, but I really want to build a suzak-mar style kit, but there is SO little info out there about that style garb or accessories.

Firstly. Been a while since I've seen the nail art, I love it. Something about the design gives me secret society vibes. Secondly. I made myself a similar wallet when I first started being bombarded by Ridge ads to see if I like the style. I cobbled it together out of plastic from an old DVD case, cardboard and duct tape with the intention of using it for a few weeks until it fell apart just to get a feel for the user experience of this kind of wallet. I carried that thing for 3 years until my SO bought me a leather wallet. I even had a nylon pull tab to help get the cards out that tucked itself away when you slid the cards back in again. It was so cool to have this thing that I made out of literal junk but functioned so well.

The big reason I got into leatherwork was because of ridge. My wallet was dying and I needed an upgrade. I liked Ridge but not the price tag it was shown at so I decided to finally pull the trigger and get into leather crafting. Now after a rabbit hole of debt, I finally got accepted to sell on a shelf in a retail store. Your channel really helped me a lot in those beginning days! Keep up the amazing work!!

Stabilising the wood with resin would have made it a bit tougher and would have prevented it breaking. Could be interesting to use in future projects.

Oooooo customizable NFC stickers is a great idea. We're planning a yearly charity event and last year, some people had issues with the QR code. I wonder between a NFC sticker, QR code, and a short URL that they could input manually should help it a lot more :think

I used to have a wallet similar to that, main thing that was different was that it the sides were thin leather/metal/thicker leather and straps/thin leather, with the outer layers a bit larger than the center and were stitched together and through the strap...on one side there was another layer of leather that held a buffalo nickle on it. The other side had a feather motif...I'd gotten it on vacation at the Badlands years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get to use it for very long before I left my bedroom door open while my dog was a pup...she chewed through it and managed to crumple part of one of the metal pieces

Use nfc blocking plates then a nfc link to never gonna give you up so if someone tries to scam your card you rick roll them (or if you want do something worse)

I’ve mentioned this in a previous video, but I’d really love to see a desert version of the winter adventurer’s cloak. Awesome things can be added to make it multifunctional, like eyelets in the corners to make a tarp/cover for items, it can be unfolded to make a tent for sandstorm protection, it could have a dust mask, and it could have goggles as well. It’s something I would really love to see

Not sure. But I’d love to see him figure it out. He’s great at finding solutions. Like with the scribe satchel, where he used a sponge to make a non-spill ink well. He always finds solutions honestly.

With the NFC tags, you could hide them in a pair of your larp gloves, so when you meet people at events you can share your contact and content in a cool "mysterious" way... Oooo perfect for your war mage!!!
