Yes, I used 9v to the Betafpv BEC board. I'm thinking that BEC can receive 12v. Don't use the 5v option to the Betafpv BEC board though...

From the quadcopter to the BEC is the best way. 150uf is just fine for 7v.. You can not use the Matek 5-9v BEC in this instance. Note: You can make a power cable from the 2s balance lead if you want. A small 330uf cap and no Matek BEC would be cool. My friend likes the power cord because it is so versatile.

This modification video is made for the Betafpv naked Gopro BEC that supplied 5v. The step down BEC (Matek) I used supplied that component with 9v. I don't have a Gopro 10 and I'm not sure what its voltage requirements are.

The heat-shrink tube I used is linked in the description. I think it was the 3/4"..

I believe the Matek BEC is rated to 8S. Therefore, you'll do the same as 4S (ground on one end and hot at the other). You'll feed the BEC 6S and output 9v.

Another question, do you think it is better to solder directly on to the GoPro motherboard, instead of through the BetaFPV BEC board? Aand the last question (hopefully!) I did power the main board with 5v on the ceramic capacitor. That way seems to be a good way to power the GoPro if the connector breaks and the Betafpv BEC can no longer be used. There's really only 2 places your able to feed in 5v. The GoPro' s circuitry has a buck and takes in 4.2-3.2v (don't quote the lower v).. You can not put 5v in to the GoPro anywhere else or it will burn the GoPro out. I have tested a handful of ways and this video is the best way we found. Where did you apply the 5v to your GoPro?

@@mathijsroelofsen Can you plug in your back screen? Is the app responding? Not sure what to think exactly, other then doing a few continuity checks and voltage checks to make sure the circuit is correct.

I soldered the supplied Betafpv BEC wires and the 2 other wires are just stock 26 awg wire.

I appreciate your support and kind words...🍻 The caps are from RDQ and are listed as low-esr. A 3s lipo is ok to run 330uf 16v/25v (50v is ridiculous overkill). If I understand your question right,....The lipo plugs into this cable or harness we made. It reduces the lipo voltage down to 5v to feed the BEC (Nameless RC or Betafpv BEC) that is mounted to the Gopro main board. If your running 3s you'll just need a smaller cap and DuPont connector (to fit the 3s balance lead - obviously).. So, the Gopro cable with a step down BEC to 5v is used to avoid the overheating and freezing issues we had in the past. I have 2 older videos showing how we got here. Check them out if you want.. I am building now a light weight cinelifter that will run on 6s Liion (and 6s lipo), I plan on using a naked gopro rather than the full size gopro to compensate the 6s lion pack weight. The matek BEC can take up to 30v so It should be OK right? Now what size capacitor should I use? and should I keep with 25v or go higher? The second question I was mentioning is my first post was more about a pluging sequence of the various elements (battery, cable adapter, gopro) to avoid spikes to the gopro. So should I first plug the battery to the quad (XT60), then plug the balance side of the adapter to the balance port, then the GH1.25 side of the adapter to the gopro? As opposed to have the GH1.25 already plugged into the gopro while connecting the balance side to the battery and then (possibly if not already done plug the XT connector to power the quad)....I hope I make myself clear here, English is not my first language. In any case thank you for your time and your help:-)

@@christophelecomte3511 I'm not a fan of 6S personally. I would use a 50v 470uf cap.. Have this cord already plugged into the BEC/Gopro, then to the power source. That cap will charge up first then the Matek BEC, easing the spike. Please understand, I have only thought of 4S in this application. No testing has been done on 6S and PropsOff can not be held responsible. Like I said, 6S isn't my cup of tea..

@@propsoff Thank you for your answers and advice. I understand you are not a big fan of 6S for this application, I am not either but the quad will run on 6S so I need to deal with it. Another solution would be running on 4S off the 6S balance plug, I am not sure what is the gopro power consumption. Running on 4S off a 3000mah 6S Liion or 1500 6S Lipo, would the unbalance in my cells at the end of the flight be a major issue?

@@christophelecomte3511 That's what I would do. Testing would tell, I just don't think the GoPro would consume enough to be that concerned. I have a few "Cheap" lipos that discharge really far apart and never worried..

You can't feed the Betafpv BEC 5V-.. I didn't work on a 7, not sure?

@@propsoff ok, this micro hdmi port has no charging function. but the GP7 works with 7.4V and not 5V. I hoped to use a 5V pad on the fc but I have just bought a 9V BEC. Now only waiting,....

There's a little pad (two halves) that a solder ball has to go across to get 9 volts.. The Matek BEC comes unaltered outputting 5 volts until that split pad on the back is jumped with said solder ball.. Is that it?

I appreciate your support and encouragement.. Just make certain the wires are secure ( Strain relief). I seen people wiggle the wires till they frey and touched causing a short and fire. Same circuit as you mentioned and shouldn't be an issue.. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻

The capacitor is part of the circuit to create a shock absorber. I had lots of issues with previous ways and this is the way...

I've now watched all your videos related to the Naked GoPro 6 and let me recap what I understood. 1 - You tried a bunch of BECs that were giving you bad results 2 - Then you decided to use a chopped Betafpv one with their BEC striped away and used a MATEK instead. 3 - And at last you realized the best option is to use the normal GoPro BEC and case in conjunction with the MATEK BEC and a Capacitor, suplying the power via the balance lead :) Is it right?

@@jonykatz Yes, the USB supplies 5v to the voltage reduction components on the main board Ultimately outputting 4.2-3.7v.. That's the reason you read a lot of comments saying they fried thier GoPro, due to feeding the battery line with 5v.. The battery terminals do not have voltage regulators. Therefore, it gets overheated and burns up.. The Betafpv BEC is feeding 5v to the USB terminal and not the internal battery terminals.. Does that make sense?

@@jonykatz I think it's confusing because stacking BECs is odd. The Betafpv is of such low quality, we needed something to reduce power spikes. That's the reason for the 9v Matek BEC.. Seems silly but it works great.
