I always check to see if you have any new videos and rewatch older ones. You are a great teacher, Erin. Hope all is well with you and your family. Smiles from Washington.
I wonder why some people criticize creativity. If they never deviate from a pattern or don't use their imagination then maybe it would be better not to say anything. I enjoy your videos and they certainly give me a proper incentive.
Are you sick? Wearing masks protects others from you. Of course you could be asymptomatic but the WHO said transmission doesn’t happen that way , very rare
I love pillow cases. They let me make scrappy rugs with lots of colors without messing up my big pieces like sheets and big chunks. I usually figure out which way will give the longest strips, then cut off ols seams ( had a couple of fails). If the hem is just flat, i use a seam ripper, if not i cut it of and make a couple strips. Thank you and Mr. Cameraman for another helpful video. Hope you and all of yours are well. My rugging has halted for now, my first grandson showed up !!!! Will get back to it when things calm down and it cools off a little.
@@RagRugsbyErin yes, but i don't have luck with that, i just figure out which way gives me the longest strip and cut the seams out. I keep a big box and when I get it full, i make a hit and miss of everthing !
Where did you go Erin! Hope your well. Still watching and learning...My grandmother ripped and crochet in her rocking chair for years.... I miss her so much. Thanks for your tutorials
Thank you for your concern. I have had a few health concerns but am much improved. I also have had to share taking care of a couple family members. Thank you for watching.
I have been watching your videos since the start of the pandemic. You are a great teacher and I've made a few rag rugs and baskets literally for nothing since I keep everything for rags. You have given me a gift I can't express enough. Thank you from North Dakota. :-)
Awwww. What is an incredibly sweet note. Thank you for sharing your kind words and a little about yourself with me. I love hearing that I had a little bit to do with you having some enjoyment in this worthwhile craft. Take care and stay safe.
Hello Erin, I hope you are both well 😁 & things in Florida are starting to get back to normal for you 💕 in the last few weeks more of our shops etc are starting open up again 💕 thank you for some more great tips on this rectangle rag rug 😋 I have not Crocheted any rag rugs for a while because I am still using the ones I have already made 😂💜 Erica x
So lovely to hear from you Erica. I am glad things are beginning to open up there. We only go out as necessary. We wear masks. We did errands today but I sat in car other than the produce stand. Please stay healthy and safe.
Hi Erin Thank you for the channel on rag rugs. I had pillow cases from my grandparents and finally found a nice use for them. Love my bath mat! Keep up the great work. 😊👏
Thank you once again for giving us helpful instructions to make a useful and beautiful item. Just one more thing, not craft related, can I just say how lovely and healthy your hair looks, it is beautiful.
My pleasure 😊. That is so kind of you to say that about my hair. I stopped coloring my hair a couple of years ago and know that most 55 year olds don't show their gray/white. You words help insure my be true to yourself path. Stay healthy and safe!
Erin Halvorsen I am 66 and still colouring (fiery red at the moment), my whites and grays are not like yours or I would have it cut really short and grow it out, but alas, it’s not to be right now, it’s a bit of this and a bit more of that and none of the other I am afraid x
Love these video I would love to buy your large crochet hook but i am here in England. Hopefully I will be in Florida when our boards are open soon I pray .
Hey Erin! I really love your rag rugs 😍😘. Everytime that i watch your videos, my mind tells me " you have to make that rug and remember to use old t shirts and sheets!! 😂 I started making a round rag rug, and when my aunt understood that i crochet eugs from sheets, ......she gave me a lot of old sheets and some old t shirts. I hope you stay safe ❤ Hugs and kisses from Italy
Hello Erin, well glad you are both ok & staying safe 😁 yes I only go out for shopping & to pay bills. & wear a face mask 💕 not taking any chances with having pneumonia 3 years ago 😋 Erica x
Thank you for this information I have heard how back in the day they did this to make rugs out of materials or clothes they didn’t wear or out grew I was wanting to know how to do this but my grandparents are done but ty again
I hope you try your hand at your own rag rug creation. My tutorials are organized on my website better than RU-vid allows me to. The tutorials are all still free. You don't have to create an account or place the tutorials in your cart just click on the blue link in the description and view as many times as you like. www.ragrugsbyerin.com
I do not have that exact one. It already sold but I do have 2 16 mm with quite a bit of black flecking. You can email me. ragrugsbyerin@gmail.com and you can go to my website too. ragrugsbyerin.com
Thank you for checking up on me. I hope to make more videos. I have had to work through some medical concerns and aging parents responsibilities have kept me busy. Have a safe and happy new year.
Hey Erin. Love your videos. Question. At the end of video you said put in dryer or it will lose its shape, do you when the rug is complete or do you mean dryer the scraps before I make the rug? Love how you wanna keep crafts alive and focus on education. Makes me like you even more. Again, Thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind and lovely note. If you are using previously used sheets that have been washed and dried in dryer that is best. If you are using fabric, washing and machine dried before making the rag rug. Once the rug has been completed and used and needs washing you can put them in a gentle wash and dry on low heat or lay flat outside in sun to dry. Hope that helps.
Yes this helps greatly. Thank you again for you videos and I know it takes a lot of time and energy to make. They have been wonderful to watch and I’m excited to get one started. Have a awesome day Ms. Erin
All is well here. Busy with www.ragrugsbyerin.com, our other business and family things. Thank you for checking on me. Hope all is well with you. Enjoy the rest of your week.
I have 3 bed sheets of Jersey fabric can I use those for a small rug? Actually I don't like that all the threds is hanging out.... What can I do? Can anyone help? Ur videos is so helpful.
You can. I prefer to use a minimum of 50% cotton regular sheets. Some sheets have more threads than others. I wrap my hand around the threads and remove most however that is the nature of a rag rug. Using a rotary cutter helps instead of ripping. Hope that helps 😊.
Hello Erin! I'm slowly catching up on all your great videos! Thank You for these great lessons. Question- do you ever use flannel sheets/pillow cases? I have a few and was considering this. God Bless!
Thanks Erin! I feel as you, too much matchy matchy is stressful to me. My idea is to find a second use for things I would normally discard. Having to go shop to have matching colors would defeat my goal.
This may have been asked or covered previously, but I haven't been able to find it... When using sheets or pillow cases, how do you keep them from fraying? I just made my first rag rug from old pillow cases and it has shed a lot! There's threads everywhere lol Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated!
They all fray some. I use a minimum of 50% cotton. I prefer 100% cotton or percale. No synthetic sheets for me. Higher thread count is better than bed in bag type of sheet. Some pillow cases fray more then their sheets. Rotary cutter help but I still prefer to rip my sheet. ALSO please try to remember it's a rag rug. It's part of it. 😊🌞🙋😉
Erin, the first video I saw of yours was making a rug with tee shirt material. I cut up a whole bunch of tee shirts ready to start, and then LIFE stepped in and took me away from this. Can you please tell me which one that was? I want to begin that rug because it had nothing to do with crochet hooks. Just hand work. Which one was that please? Thank you. You're awesome!
It would be one of my braid-in rag rugs. You can find it easier on my website. Those are on the 2nd page of my tutorials. www.ragrugsbyerin.com All the tutorials are still free. No account needed. Just click on the blue link in the Playlist description and view as many times as you like for free.
Flannel makes a lovely rug. Just make sure you wash the flannel in the washer and dryer so the flannel doesn't loose it shape when you wash it in the rug form. Hope that helps 😊. Enjoy creating.
Hi Erin, Great videos, thanks! I'm trying to decide which type of rag rug to make. Do you think that bias sheet yarn would be flexible enough for a braid-in rug? Thanks again for all the time you have put into these videos. They are so helpful.
Yes. That would help but you can use regular sheet yarn it's just important to add enough extra stitches as you go around the curves. If you watch my 5 strand rectangle braid-in rag rug tutorial it shows more close ups and details about adding extra stitches as you go around the curves. I hope that helps 😊! My tutorials are organized better on my website than RU-vid allows. www.ragrugsbyerin.com They are all still free. You don't have to create an account or place them in your cart just click on the blue link in the playlist description and view as many times as you like.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a try. Kicking myself for giving away about a million t-shirts recently. If it doesn't go well I'll switch over to a other type.
You might want to consider the top of the mushroom similar to the head of the fish an instead of fish tail, do a less pronounced tail as the stem of the mushroom.
Yes. I am still here. I still answer questions on RU-vid, emails, Facebook as well as filling hook orders. I have my mother with me off and on and she requires quite a bit of my attention. I have also been having to spend some time with health issues. I plan on getting a few new videos together in the next 3 or 4 months. Fingers crossed. Thanks for checking on me.
@@RagRugsbyErin I am so sorry to hear about all you are going through. If you do not mind I will lift you up in my prayers this morning for strength, peace, and comfort that only our Lord and Savior can give to us. God Bless and have an awesome day in the Lord.
Thank you 😊. I am blessed every moment of everyday. Your prayers are appreciated. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and thank you for checking on me.
Thank you for your concern. Life gets in the way sometimes. I have been struggling with a few health issues but after several years I am doing considerably better. I have also had to help/take care of aging family members. I am blessed beyond belief and so very grateful. Hope you and your loved ones are doing well.
Thank you for checking on me. I am doing fine. I have had some things that have had to take resistance and making new videos take a back burner. I still answer questions and fill hook orders and am hoping in the next few months to be making new videos. I do continue to post on my Facebook page, Rag Rugs by Erin. Thank you for your sweet concern. Have wonderful holiday season with your loved ones.
