This video is how to make a charcuterie serving board. I made several of these serving boards to help out a friend. Ths style of serving charcuterie board has become super popular in the last few years. The serving boards have a dramatic look and are simple to make with limited tools.
I have since made several of this style simple serving charcuterie boards for gifts. These boards make great serving trays as well. I filled the knots and voids in the charcuterie serving boards with epoxy with a green and gold tint.

good that you added the tip to spray the board with water after some sanding. I do it between all grits. For most of my boards i go up to 3000 grit. The wood has a big shine without any finish, but adding a food safe finish as you do gives a great final shine and added protection. Enjoyed the video, subscribed. :)

Hi nice serving board.But who can lift such a heavy board.Can a woman lift these heavy boards? How much do they each weigh? Today I weight to lumber yard in search of lightest wood weight wise. There were some options UK Sycamore Beech Ash. I like to make either with Sycamore or Ash. Sycamore has that wavy pattern which is just remarkable.If one makes chacuterie boards with those wavy designs (natural) it will fetch a good price. May be I will make one for myself .!

Does it happen with any hardwood that you use to make a cutting board? What I mean is do you have to spray them all first with water?
@furthernorthfab
@furthernorthfab 4 года назад
I’ve had the grain raise on most of my cutting boards. Same can happen if you use a water based finish on furniture. I find it just gives the piece a lot more life if the end user is taking good care of it.

Those came out great! Did you surface the boards before starting, or just flatten them after the epoxy cured? I ask because I bought a 4/4 black walnut slab a couple weeks ago, apparently s2s but it warped on me. If I plane it first, I’ll end up losing 1/3” and then more when I plane after epoxy. I really wanted to stay close to 1”. Thinking I can skip the initial plane, epoxy the voids then do a flattening pass. Thanks

What do you do to prevent warping/twisting?
@furthernorthfab
@furthernorthfab 3 года назад
The after care is what will help with that the most. Not letting it sit in water, drying it after use and keeping it well oiled. Wood is a living thing, so it’s hard to prevent 100% of wood movement.

I have recently started making similar boards for a client and I find that with the natural boards I have to spend time planing them to get them flat.
