In this video, I'm using some acrylic templates with a router to create different shaped charcuterie boards. It's easy to mix and match the different handle styles with different boards. These clear templates make it easy for you to work around any voids in the wood or orient the grain exactly like you want it.

@@BruceAUlrich Perhaps you should ask yourself if the music did, in any way, make your video more instructive, enjoyable or informative. If the answer to any of these questions is no, then ask yourself what purpose it serves. If your content is good, it will not require any musical "enhancements". But if your content is poor, no amount of bolted-on music will improve it. A further problem is that we all have differing tastes in music. Whatever music you choose, you'll not please everybody, so it's probably best not to alienate the portion of your audience that doesn't share your taste in music.

@@BruceAUlrich Both of you 2 are right. Bruce, I have a problem with any music. My problem is I now have hearing aids & when you are talking & the music is playing I can't understand what you are saying. It is amost like when people that wear masks are talking I can't understand what is been said. The TV stations do the same thing 48 hours, CNN, 60 min. when they run their stories, I now no longer watch them as I don't care for CC. P.S. My opinion, "2 rights don't make a wrong"? 😷😊

Which is more likely to last longer over more usage of the charcuter board? THANK YOU AGAIN!
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Год назад
Well, thanks for the kind words! I've never used butcher block oil, so I don't really know how to compare that. I would NOT use Odie's Oil any longer...the owner/founder is a real piece of work, and looks down on his typical customer base. I would probably use some Mahoney's walnut oil finish...I use that on a lot of my other cutting boards. A lot of bowl turners use it also. They distill it so there is nothing in it that would cause a nut allergy. I've got a link to it in my description. Those links help me out a bit if you shop with them....at no cost to you. ;)

For this video, I was using a Glowforge and they have some recommended speeds and power settings in their software. I’ve got a different laser now and it is totally different. I seem to have pretty good success with elevating the acrylic off of the honeycomb bed with some more pieces of acrylic and making multiple quick passes. I’ve never tried cutting 1/2” though...I bet that can be tricky.

After you finish wiping with oil, do you let it dry or keep wiping until the oil is completely absorbed into the wood and no wipe streaks are visible?
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
For this stuff, it says to buff it in with a white non-scratch pad. Then let it sit on there for about 45 min. Then, buff off the excess with a clean cloth until it is dry to the touch.

Bruce....wonderful video explaining your charcuterie board build. I noticed you have a 14 inch grizzly bandsaw with at least a half inch blade. I also have a 14 inch grizzly with a 6 inch riser block. Unfortunately I get a lot of vibration when I resaw wood with a wider blade....and get drifty cuts. What blade brand and size are you using? What tires do you have on your bandsaw. And can you think of anything else that's causing my vibration/drifty cuts. Perhaps you've had the same issue and solved it....thanks!
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
Thank you! Sorry to hear you're having vibration with your bandsaw. I do not have the riser block on mine, so I wonder if it is anything with that. I have the stock tires on mine. I think this blade is 3/8", but it might be 1/2". I buy my blades on amazon. There's a brand, Olsen, that's been around for a long time and has really good, inexpensive blades. My first thought about yours might be that it needs more tension, if it is drifting. Or maybe the blade is dull. Mine will start to drift a lot when it is getting dull.

How thick are the boards?

@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
They range from about 3/4" to a little over an inch.

Question. Typically what’s the thicknesses of a Charcuterie board. And what types of wood should not be used? Also. I have 50 boards of butternut that’s been seasoned for the last 10 years. Can’t find anyone that would buy it. Can it be considered as a cutting board? Most are 2 1/2 in thick maybe 6 in wide and 6 to 8 ft long. Let me know.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
I’m not that familiar with butternut. I think for serving boards, a lot of woods can be used. You get some people that get pretty down on red oak for cutting boards, but for a serving board, I think even that would be fine.

Bruce A. Ulrich just a follow up. What would be a appropriate thickness for a Charcuterie board?
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
Oh, sorry. Missed that part. I think you can do whatever you want but at least 3/4” would be a good thickness!
