This is a such great tutorial. So simple to follow. Thank you !... I don't know if someone has already mentioned it but to select all the videos you can select the first image and then depress the control key and tap the 'A' key...this will select ALL images or you can select one image, depress the control key and select all the images you want to change the duration of. Put my slide show together in just a few minutes.👍
This didn't work for me and in fact it seemed to permanently end my ability to type in a number of seconds that I wanted. All I can do now is click on one of the pre-set times up to 7 seconds. This is disastrous because I need to set each slide for 10 to 20 seconds depending on the subject. I've tried everything I can think of to re-set the duration function and nothing works. So I don't recommend following this advice for changing the duration of multiple images at once.
Well done and a very nice tutorial! Just one thing. At 6 minutes 40 seconds you introduce the idea of transitions, but what you demonstrate is Camera motion effects [ken burns effect]. A transition is a way of taking the viewer from one clip to the next; the most common method being a fade in or fade out. Unfortunately, Windows Video Editor does not provide transitions. I have found Clipchamp (free version) or capcut which are both great for someone starting out.
2:45 if you check the small box in the top right corner of all the pics selected then you can change the duration of them all at once, or you can hold ctrl down and click on them anywhere with the mouse to highlight them all and then click duration and it will do the selected pics all at once as well, hope this helps!
I was able to select all frames by clicking on the first one, and while holding shift key, clicking on the last one, highlighting them all. Then pick your time duration.
same here,it helped me.I'm searching for video slideshow that will help me make a slideshow for my grandma who just passed away then i see this.Thank you!
I could not understand that how can I send slide show to my teachers then I see your video and your video is became very helpful for me, Thanks you so much sir
thank you for the tutorial! not bad for a free software... cute widelife shots :).. Q: how can one find out if the accelarated encoding is supported? btw I'd add your endscreen videos earlier at 13:45 because they appear much later.
Hi, I found how to select all the files in the storyboard. Hold Control and a, click on first photo in the storyboard, keep on holding control and a for a few seconds, it will select everything in the storyboard, not clear how to deselect, so do all your adjustments, transitions, ... before adjusting the general duration, I think that it should be done last. Thanks for the tutorial👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is a great and well-done tutorial. Therefore, I was able to successfully do my first ever slideshow presentation with what that I needed. However, I must add that when I wanted to add a title slide, it would just not save it with the proper text after being done with it. After being done, the only thing the slide would show is a "blue" slide without the proper written title on it. I tried everything that I could to add it but wasn't able to do it. If anyone has any idea of what I need to do, please let me know. That's actually the only slide that I need to complete all the memories that I have from my wedding. Again, thanks!!!
To change the 'duration' of more than one image at a time: Select an image, hold down the shift key, drag the 'grey slider at below the images and clip the image/s that you want to 'highlight'. You have to unclick each image individually, but that's OK for free.
That works, thanks. But is there a way to make the slide show the length of the music you've added? Think I used an older version of slideshow for a memorial video 7 years ago and unfortunately I'm trying to make another memorial slide show ...
YES: It is important that you know the number of images you are using, PLUS the length of the song (in seconds) you will be using. You divide the SECONDS by the number of images EG. Song 2ms 25sec (2*60+25) =145 sec. Number of images 15 Therefore 145/15= 9.666667. If you want the show to be exactly the length of the music you must make the "duration" of the SLIDESHOW 145 seconds. If you want each image to be on the screen for equal duration you make the "duration" of all the images 9.666667 seconds. I would probably make the duration (of each image) about 10.5 and allow the music to finish just before the images run out. BEFORE YOU ADD THE MUSIC: 1. CLICK ON THE FIRST IMAGE. 2. Hold down the shift key and click on the last image. 3. Click "duration" lable and change the duration time to what ever number of SECONDS that you have calculated. In our case I would be using 10.5 seconds. 4. Click on "Custom Audio" add your music. (If you do not click the FIRST image your music may not start when the slideshow starts. When you add the music you will see a fat blue line. This shows you which images are covered by the song. 5. Click "Done" 6. Give your show a test run. 7. You can make different images "display" for different "durations" as long as the slideshow runs for as long as your music is. IF YOU MAKE AN IMAGE 10 seconds longer, one of more will have to be made shorter. Hope this helps.
@@Paul-uh9kp, I ended up using HD Moviemaker Pro instead, found this video very helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qcmH7DzsUIo.html&lc=UgywYCViCZswaFyo7mF4AaABAg.9DqCGfAssVF9E-DZC3n-vL
Question: What is the best way to save the slideshow when it's not completed? I did not use "finish video" . The partial slideshow was there when I went back into Video Editor yet some of the pictures 'could not be found'. I was pulling pictures from 2 different folders on my PC - do I have to pull pictures from only one folder? Thank you!
I made a project, but then suddenly had a technical problem unrelated to the Windows 10 Video Editor that forced me to reinstall - to version 1905.236 -- But tthen later when I looked for my project it was missing. I see you can load up a backup of the old one, but what folder would that come from?
This is all fine and dandy, but you didn't say what kind of file it exports as. Can it be put on a USB or SD? Then, can anyone put it in their computer and play it? These kinds of things need to be included.
Thank you so much in sharing this program. It worked a treat. I also worked out that you can change the duration on all the pictures at once. You click on the first image then go all the way to the last image. Click Shift and then click on the last image. This will highlight all the pictures. You can then change the duration for all of them in one go.
If you choose music that comes with the app, is there a way to trim it? Also, When using custom music, can you share the slideshow with others so they can hear the music?
Can you take said finished slideshow and burn it to a CD? If so is there a specific free software I can use or is there a place in windows 10 to do so? I am making one for my Nanas funeral.
Another little hack, upload the same image twice and use motions that counter each other. Looks like the camera flows across one image and changes direction.
this is a great tutorial- really well and easily explained So well explained that I only have 2 questions 1. I put in a n orange background title slide with a title on it to run for 5 sec. After about 2 or 3 secs, the writing is gone, and for the rest of the time, only an orange slide 2. I put writing on some of the slides, and timed them to run about 4 secs to give time to read the writing. Again, after about 2 secs, writing disappears, and photo remains. What is the fix?????? I will really appreciate input
This didn't work for me. What it did do was permanently screw up my ability to type in the number of seconds duration I need for a slide. Now all I can do is choose one of the pre-set durations and they are all too short. I need 10 to 20 seconds per slide and now I can't get that. Extremely frustrating.
Thanks for the tips! I recently made a slide show with lots of photos, music, etc. At the end of the slideshow I inserted a quick video with sound. On the storyboard it plays perfectly but when I finalized the video, the video clip has sound but no picture. Can you tell me what I did wrong? It was a .mp4 video. Thanks in advance
Question: I want to add more than one custom audio, but I can't seem to figure out how. So sad. My whole slideshow is 7:11. Need TWO songs. Does anyone know how to add two or more custom audio files?
Hi Lisa, you can add more than one song. The duration of you slideshow has to be equal to or a few seconds longer than the total 'time' that ALL you music adds up to. You need to know the following. 1. Total number of images. 2. Duration (in seconds) of each song. Let's say 45 images and three songs (2:10, 2:25 & 2:05 total 400 seconds song time) Therefore you slideshow will have to be a few seconds longer than 400, say 410, that way the music ends just before you last image. FOR THIS EXAMPLE. 1. Add 15 images to your slideshow. 2. Click on the first image, hold down the shift key and click on the last image. Click on "duration" change the time to the length of your first song IN SECONDS DIVIDED BY 15 (images) thus 2*60+10=130 (seconds of song) divided by 15 =8.7 seconds (FOR EACH IMAGE) 3. Test your slideshow, starting from the beginning, and see if it runs for the length of the song. If it does you have to repeat the above process for your next song/s BEFORE YOU ADD YOUR NEXT SONG DESELECT THE FIRST GROUP OF IMAGES. Add your next, say, 15 images and do the same as above. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE DURATION OF THE SLIDESHOW EQUALS THE TOTAL TIME OF YOUR MUSIC. You can change the "duration" that the images are on the screen, but you cannot change the music to fit the length of a random 'length' slideshow. Good luck, any issues 'try' and let me know.Paul
@@GaryDetonnancourt Sorry Gary, and Bern from Wales, but there are no transitions available in the Video Editor. I know that since 2018 many requests have been made to Microsoft - but still no transitions. Maybe they have a reason for leaving them out. I think it is a bit of a shame.
I got a question, so if you make this slideshow, could you then you then put it as your desktop background or do you just have to do it the normal way?
Video Editor could be helpful, but you only insert text for the slideshow title. If the slideshow is a series of family photos, most folks would like to see a caption with each photo that provides identifying information such as: "Family picnic, June 1999, Prince William Forest Park, VA." Can this be done -- and how? Thanks.
I created a 30 min slide show with music background. All seemed to be ok until I played it back. I found that at the beginning of each and every track( nine in all) the music hesitated and sputtered for a about 3 seconds. Then it played normally. Is there a way to correct this? Thanks.
@@MoreThanASnapShot The computer genius in the house says the computer is ok. But here is the issue. When I play it back on the computer...everything works fine. No skipping or hesitation. But when playing it on my Sony Bluray...that's when we find it skipping. I have done this before with no problems. So...should I redo the music tracks...or is there another route to take to fix the problem? Thanks for your assistance. Jerry
Hi, Im having troubles making a slideshow., I have Windows 10 and, following your excellent video tutorial I open Editor and click on 'Add' to add my photos, and then select the photos on my PC Id like to add, and up pops a box saying ' Add a folder to your pictures to continue ' , then undeneath that I have a list of the photos Im trying to add, along with the text ' To add these files to your video project, add a folder to your pictures library. Then come back here and add the files again' .... Im lost, and just appear to be going around in circles here, can anyone help? Thanks ~ andy
I add the audio file from my hard drive and I can preview in the upper right corner of the screen, but when I choose 'done', it goes back the previous screen and there is no audio.
okay I got everything finished and saved but the music won't work unless I click on the music bar itself. I added it to custom audio so its in there but only plays separately. Cant figure out what I am doing wrong. In case you couldn't tell this is the first time I have ever done this. lol! Its a Christmas present for my son and I really want it to come out just right. Im pretty proud of myself so far.
Looping of slideshows and movies is a function of the player you use. Some TVs will have that option and computer software such as Window Media Player allows you to loop a video.
@@MoreThanASnapShot i meant that i wanted to use the photo app to use the video editor. In order to make slideshows fast. Anyway i figured it out. I had to use the "Pictures folder in Libraries". I can only add images there in order for Microsoft Photos to accept it into the video editor software.
