Thanks, Kevin, this was terrific. I'm making videos for the online class that I teach, and I needed something really simple - just stitching together two videos. But this allows me to do a lot more and to make the videos look a lot better. This was very good and intuitive. You spoke slowly and made everything easy to understand. It is one of the best. Some of the host of video tutorials go through them like the viewer already know how it works. and seem to be obsessed with hearing their own voice and showing how smart they are. I found video editor somehow one day. I made a video without realizing it that day, well the video editor did it for me. The video came about when I blindly and obediently followed the 'give it a try' prompts. So I added a few pics of an elephant who was abused in Southern India at Kerala. I must have become distracted or something coz I don't remember going through to 'finish video'. However, I must have done it right because sometime later I found video editor again and there was a video waiting for me to view. I was amazed! What had been put together was a series of shots in just the right order and music that was perfect. It made me feel sad for the elephant all over again. I had been practicing with another one but became stuck with the trimming of the intro and moving the story boards into correct sequence. I had given up until now...Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. I truly am so very happy now. This video will change my life now. I don't get things easily. I usually have questions. But this is all I need. Thank you. I'll have a few goes at making some elephant and animal videos and then checkout key frames and transitions etc. I have subscribed. Thank you very very much. Ps, Water slide video is great. Bub is a cutee and Mum has a beautiful smile. I like your voices in the back ground too. That is another part I was stuck on was how to fad out the noise on a video on the story board. Thank you. Life is good now. lol

Continued using my Dell windows 7 computer and avoided using my new Dell windows 10 computer for 2 years because I was told windows 10 does not have Movie Maker. I recently found out 10 does have a video editor, so I searched for a video on how to use it. This video editor is 10 times better than Windows Movie Maker! So much cooler and easy to use. Thank you for your clear explanation on how to use this amazing feature. Well done! The only part I didn't see was how to add transitions in between video clips, for when you are using various videos?

Loved the demo! I had no idea this even existed in my computer! I purchased a video converter AP that also has an editor but it's not easy to use. I always loved the original Windows Movie Maker and made lots of videos with it until it went away. Now I can use this one and get back to making videos again. I'm so happy. I now am not as intimated to edit videos that I do for my Readers are Leaders program where students improve reading based on movies like Harry Potter, Black Panther and Avengers. I oftentimes need to provide student and parents with their segment before the final polished and edited video is complete. I love this!

My company is always trying to push “speak human “ I love the fact that you are clear on concise on each step. If you are just starting out like a lot of us here in your channel, we want to understand the verbiage. Almost all the other videos I have watched so far go way to fast to keep up. Thanks. My grandson, who lives many states away from me, has become quite a videographer and has shared much of his work with me. Now I want to make a few videos to share with him. This was a great introduction. I'm sure I'll never get up to his quality as he is quite artistic while I am not. But at least I should be able to make a few short videos to share some of my life with him as he has shared his life with me.

Thanks for your series of RU-vid how-to videos. I definitely appreciate the detail and professionalism you put in them. But I have one question that's not product/application-specific. I've noticed over the past few months (2022) that you no longer include the publish date beside your video titles just beneath the video frame. I miss that because it helps me choose videos when I search a given subject. I prefer to watch videos that are more recent and up-to-date - today, last week, last month vs. xx years ago, etc. Any way you can resume that practice in your video production workflow? Thanks

Very useful to know about the free video editor. I recently got a new, very fast Ryzen PC with Windows 10 Pro. Back on Windows 7 I didn't like Movie Maker much. But here Microsoft really has done a good job. Your video makes it all look very straightforward and accessible, especially for a total amateur like myself. Anyway, time to fire up Windows 10 and run through your video again step by step. I can play it on this tablet so that the PC screen is solely used for the video editor. Thanks!

As a Windows 10 video editor who uses the app all the time, this video was a really great comprehensive tutorial. One word of caution, if you plan to upload your videos to RU-vid be sure to use non copyright music from youtube's library. I've had copyright issues using the background music form Windows 10 movie editor. Thanks for the vid Kevin! Even I learned a few new things.

@@lukeobrien6684 When you are done creating a video on your laptop, for instance, save the video file to a folder you can easily locate. Then go to your RU-vid account, open your dashboard, and find the button at the top which looks like an arrow. That's for uploading your videos. Press that and RU-vid takes over.

I like the music that comes with the Microsoft Windows video editor, and I have used it on most of my RU-vid videos. There's only one time where it was flagged for copyright issues. I fought it and won. And while waiting for that decision I learned there are unscrupulous individuals who issue copyright claims for their own purposes.

@@annheatherton I thought about that possibility. By using all youtube provided free music I know if anyone wants to falsely report me it's easier for the complaint to die with RU-vid rather than me have to go through the process of fighting. Which I did and got no response. I eventually re-edited the video and put it back up. If I was making money at youtube I would definitely take the time to fight these issues. But if RU-vid isn't your full time gig and paying the bills these headaches can be too time consuming and creativity sucking.

Thanks for this. I think the finished vid looks great too. You did what normally takes me hours in a short time. Admittedly I get stuck doing this one way but I will certainly try these methods out.

Excellent Video. I recently had my laptop upgraded and it included Windows 10. I do a lot of fishing and wanted to start my RU-vid channel by creating, editing and posting my fishing adventurers videos. I was looking for a video editing software but I am so happy that one is included. Your video is so detailed yet simple. Now I just have to spend some time playing around with it and see what happens. Thank you very much for this Tutorial!!!

Kevin, Great tutorial. You have shown me the way. FINALLY!! I have been looking for a simple editor for a simple man. I think I have finally found it. Too many presenters talk so fast that they are difficult to follow and understand. You had a nice cadence that helped immensely. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

Great tutorial Kevin very informative! One quick question on background music and video clips. I see you can mute the volume of video clips so you can hear the background music while playing. But is there a way you can do the opposite and mute the background music so you can hear the video clips of people talking? Thanks!
