Really beautiful table John. I too love mixing my metal and woodworking skills. I am 70 years old and learned both skill sets from my Dad back in the 1950's when I was a youngster and he was making a living as a physician in rural upstate NY. He taught me machine shop practice and woodshop skills too. I picked up my router skills much later in life.

Since I read “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), I do think nothing will ever surpass it as an outstanding woodworking book. The book contains appealing photos as well as drawings and also reader-friendly text. I look at this book a "must have" because it gives a broad range of information on pretty much everything working with wood working and does it quite well.

John Malecki A very novice question! My husband and I are building this table or something similar. I love the look of the dark metal square tubing minus any rust of course. I’d like to keep that gunmetal color. But once you cut and sand down your welds you of course have shiny metal. Is there anywayTo get it back to that original look? And if so is there anything In a clear matte that we can spray it with to preserve The look?
@John_Malecki
@John_Malecki 6 лет назад
Once it’s sanded you have to paint it. Unless you brush the whole thing to one sheen , powder coat works too
@weenercatotto
@weenercatotto 8 лет назад
I deleted that dumb comment I made about grinding your welds. Theballplayer called me out, & he was so right on. We who weld for a living goof on eachother, but have several grinders hanging on our benches. What you've done, and the way you did it, is pretty much how my boss would want to see.
@John_Malecki

Ya by no means am I a professional welder. I enjoy the craft and respect pros like yourself. I grind the welds simply because they dont work with the aesthetic of the piece. But i always accept some coaching and criticism. Thanks for the support!
