BE AWARE! There's a new Steam policy that changes the file size limit to 5 mb. (no longer 8 mb). Other then that, the artwork design process is still the same. Still works in 2023!
Most underrated channel. This dude literally explained every step in detail without saying a single word. I was able to make a custom artwork and it's just because of you. Lots of Love :)
At 10:03 some people are wondering why I rendered a 10 mb file instead of 8 mb. At the time my Photoshop was bugged and wouldn't update the preview size with changes in the setting. For me, I had to manually check the size via properties. But it should work for most of you. From the timestamp, I was showing where you can view the size of file as you update the settings. So be sure your file size preview is under 8 mb. If you're file is still over 8 mb, use EZGIF, reduce intensive effects, or reduce the FPS to 25 in after effects. You can also reduce the duration of the artwork or decrease the height.
If anyone had problems with the gifs not repeating and getting frozen, I got the solution. When doing the last step (Saving for Web, 10:14) before saving, you have to change the option that is right above 'cancel'. The one that says 'Animation', the Looping option is on 'one time' on default. Change it for 'Forever' or 'Infinite'.
It's rare that I subscribe after watching one video from someone, but this really blew me away. I wish you were a little more thorough about explaining things, but this was simple super easy to follow regardless. Tysm! and please make the effects video soon! :) :)
Thank you! I managed to figure out how to do the particles, the drop shadow and outer glow. Now my profile looks sick thank you for the help couldn't have done it without you!.
Man I love you thanks a lot I really really wanted to learn this program but I was scared from the huge amount of options and stuff but thanks to your awesome videos I learned the basics in literally 2 days (more like 4 hours cuz I did like 2 hours a day after school) you are just amazing dude I cannot possibly thank you enough :'D and please keep making some videos like this one again
Great tutorial Before I watched this I never used after effects yet I managed to do everything Though for the more advanced stuff like particles and the eye animation I had to watch other tutorials
I really appreciate your efforts. Please make some more easy to learn tutorial regarding effects like the glowing borders, particles and falling objects like leaves etc. We're still waiting. ❤
WoW.. I'm totally excited about your videos precisely because you have created so many great tutorials, i hope to be able to achieve a nice result myself someday Thanks so much 💖
Hello bro did u manage to upload the right side? Mine was diffirent theres no more border line ,i can only upload the whole gif on my artwork, no more on the right side. Please help thanks ❤️
Hey Zelocity! Thanks for the awesome vid. I've made a few of my own pieces of artwork thanks to this video. I'm not sure if you know this but all of your border templates are in an accessible file. Thanks for the amazing video, you've helped and inspired me to learn after effects :)
Nice tutorial! Would you mind making one for long workshop showcases? I think that alot of people (including myself) are struggling with uploading and creating one. Cheers
Great videos Zelo! really appreciate the tutorials you have given everyone. I thought this was going to be a lot harder than it was and I'm glad i had your guidance. The only issue I seem to be having is a cannot for the life of me get the file size to 8mb or below, is there a trick to do this, other than what you had shown us in "exporting to web" Thanks again!
Hello I am new to all this steam stuff but is there a way you can use the new animated profiles for this or no? (also this video helps so much and got rid of the mind block of graphic design is super hard so thank you)
Hey thanks for the tutorial bro it really helped, but I have one problem.. when I resize the image sequence to 506 pixels in the canvas size, photoshop washes out the image's colors, yet when I export the image before resizing the canvas the colors are represented correctly.. very frustrating issue. EDIT: Fixed by selecting "Adaptive" mode instead of "Perceptual", adaptive takes up more space than perceptual though but it's worth it
@@Zelocity I thought it was a compression problem too until I plowed through thread and thread to realize that selecting "Adaptive" mode from a simple drop down list fixes it. Feelsbadman
@@knestor Oh you're talking about the border. Would be sorta lengthy to explain with words but it has to do with "layer effects" and using the outer glow effect. Ill make a video on useful effects for steam artwork sometime in the future.
If you are talking about the animation, make sure your ends have the initial pinpoints. If you mean the rendering part, I believe you are just seeing the preview. All GIFs loop by itself
@@karasuma.1545 oh yeah for some reason my PS has the preview of the file size stuck on the original size of the artwork. For me I have to render it completely and see the size manually.
When i try to change the canvas size it tells me "The new canvas size is smaller than the current canvas size; some clipping will occur." any ideas how to solve this?
The sidebars you gave aren't big enough to fill the grey area. I double checked my steps and there's nothing I did wrong. Even started over. Idk how to fix this... why is the grey area behind the background not covered with the sidebar... please help!
