I'm new to wine making,and I just want to say thanks for all the great videos on wine making. There are so many vids out there that just make the vids for the clicks and make wine from" junk" and they know the wine won't come out good . Click vids I call them, but your vids are awesome and very informative thank you again for all the fruit videos that make awesome wine. I have pineapple,strawberry,and also mango/pineapple mashes started . The first pineapple is from someone else but the other two are your recipes and will let you know how they progress. Thanks, Shane Aubuchon Chelsea, Maine

Wow...this looks so tasty!! I've just made a similar thing only with honey, and I didn't use any water, just apples, apple juice and honey, lol! I had hoped it would be left with some residual sugar but nope, mine went from the OG of 1.110 to 0.991 in 10 days so it's going to be 16% but okay...I'll back-sweeten with some more honey. Now it's off gassing and clearing, I've already divided it into two 5L carboys and have 2L extra. My intention was to leave one as is (after back-sweetening of course) and turn the other into apple pie mead by adding some nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves...but now that I've seen this, I think I'm gonna add your caramel to the other one! Thanks! 🥂
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight Год назад
They mead sounds good. Yeah I'm like you if I add more sugar upfront it conveys to alcohol unless you crash fermenting and that's for its challenges in big carboys. I like to back sweeten and control at the end. Great tips. 👍👍🙂🙂

I just wanted you to know I started the apple wine last weekend. I am following the recipe for the 5 gallon batch. It was too many apples to get in the 6 gallon fermenting bucket so I divided it in half and have two buckets. As for my scuppernong and muscadine wines, I bottled and labeled those last Saturday. I ended up with 27 bottles of muscadine and 27 bottles of scuppernong. They are now aging in the wine cooler for two months.😊

@veronicahouston5910
@veronicahouston5910 Год назад
@@HowToDoneRight Ohhhhhh Yes!!! It is great. I did have one issue though. The muscadine seems to be displaying a little sediment. It is not bad but there is some there. The only thing that I can recall happening is when I put the stabilizer in the Muscadine bucket, I noticed it displayed a film. I tried to be sure it was stirred in good but something happened at that point. I even mentioned it to my husband when it happened. The scuppernong is perfect… Have you ever experienced anything like that? The taste is still great though. It will not go to waste though…🤣

How do you keep the apples from tuning brown?
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight Месяц назад
Peel them and get in the must as soon as possible. Usually not a factor once get in the bucket with water. They may turn slightly but no affect on the wine.

Hey guys - thanks for the videos! I'm curious - what's your opinion on blending all of the fruit instead of cutting it? Making it into a smoothie, essentially... Any issues with that? Especially with apples, pears, and other harder fruits, it seems like this would make the fermentable "stuff" more available. I've also wondered about the hydrometer measurements you take at the beginning. If most of the juice from the fruit is tied up in cell walls, are you measuring more of the sugar water than the fruit? I'm just getting ready to start my first batch of wine EVER, so I'm trying to get all of my beginner questions answered. Thanks so much! And nice name, sir - I'm also named Todd. :)

Thanks for watching our channel. It is never ever a good idea to blend your fruit into fine particles... it always sounds like a good idea but as you start racking process you then try and get all those fine particles out.. my wine recipe accounts for extra fruit you will have more than plenty of juice to make wine. Trust me... do not blend.. just chop fruit and if berries break the skins. Yes in most cases your beginning reading is from sugar but berry juice will be released quickly and be measured. Welcome to the hobby... trust me you will never buy wine again once you taste homemade wine. 👍👍🍷🍷😁😁

Oh no! I just realized I doubled the additives for a 5 gallon batch! So, 5, 1/2tsps of each additive I was only going by the video and not looking at recipe :( Just now was going to add the yeast. Do I need to dump it or will it be ok?

I could be wrong, but I don't think the hydrometer reading will be very accurate without the potential sugars that would be in the apples themselves.
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight 5 месяцев назад
The sugars in the fruit is very very minimal compared to the sugar you are adding. That's why you don't account for it as wine makers it is fractions of a percent. Great question though.
