How to Make Appliques with a Sewing Machine | DIY Easy Heart Applique

In today's tutorial, I'll be teaching you how to make heart appliques! What's an applique? It's a fabric decoration that is sewn onto a larger piece of fabric (think clothes, bags, and quilts). You can make these on any sewing machine with quite a few different stitches. Appliques are a great way to use up scraps that are too small for most projects but too pretty to toss. So watch this tutorial if you want to learn how to create fabric appliques!
In this video I'm using tear away stabilizer and a double-sided adhesive stabilizer. The double sided stabilizer is also called double sided fusible webbing. If you are using a knit fabric, you will want to use cut away stabilizer instead of tear away.

Appliques are just patches made directly on the fabric (like if you want to cover a hole in your jeans). If you want to make loose patches that you sew on later, swap the base fabric out for a tear-away stabilizer. Once you're done, the stabilizer can literally be torn away like paper. Hope this helps!
