Yes, after they stopped selling them. The unhappy public demanded they be bought back in production. Any way I will definitely be giving your version a shot. 😊Thanking you Robbbert from Melbourne Australia .
They are not like the Chiko rolls from the Fish n Chip shop. This is Karen's version of Chicken Rolls with Chiko roll pastry. They do look very nice, but if I'm going to make them, they have to be authentic.
I just buy mine frozen an wack in the microwave ! I don't get that oily taste and I don't get as many calories either! I really like it like this. I only buy if they are on offer though as they are like $4.90 on offer compared to like $11!!!! When not in offer!!! Spring rolls Coles own brand are like $1.85 for 16 of them so that's probably one Chiko role but hey it works out cheaper, tastes just as good!
I wish I could be bothered to go to that trouble, because your recipe would be so much tastier than a Chiko Roll from a fish and chip shop. I do like the burnt ends though. BTW, Chiko Rolls contain chicken?
Timestamp 0:25 The only true words you spoke in this entire video. There is no Chicken! (it should be lamb or lamb/beef combo) in a traditional Chiko Roll. Although I can appreciate that you are making a variation, this simple fact should be qualified up front. Kudos to you for making your own dough, but you don't explain how this egg "batter" dough is a batter or a dough, or why it works. It actually looks like egg pasta dough. Curry? Curry??? Are you serious?!? It (be kind...) never existed in the traditional Chiko Roll flavour profile. (sigh) Oh, and where's the pearl barley? Oyster sauce and soy sauce?!? My mind is fried! Ist his a send up? A Joke that I just don't get? Had you said Worcestershire Sauce, I might have gone along with your reasoning, a little way...And' now... Toasted Rice... ok, that's your pearl barley substitute. Right now this recipe is so far away from the original as to be comedic entertainment. I know where I sit now. Thank you for the fun. We're not even half way through... 😱 Mung Bean Noodles ?!? Come On! "More like a spring roll" never a truer word spoken. The only saving grace here is the dough, the filling is an abomination! Observation: The history record the ends as being "painted on." This means that the ends were not folded over, spring roll wrapper style. Fail! Again! It's so frustrating to what you (the influencer, celebrity chef) butcher this. Timestamp 5:40 Yes! I've had this problem in the past too. The fried dough skin texture is no right, and I hazard that the tensile strength of the fried dough is also lacking. I have said it over and over, the secret in this roll is the dough, not the filling. Good attempt, better than most, at the dough, but no cigar ( or Chiko 🤪) Overall, this video has infuriated me no end, however, the dough attempt was interesting. For that, Thank you.
