Great work John! I used to do similar fixes on the pin nails and other pneumatically fastened nails but now I just bend them over a few times until they work harden and break off(23 ga. to 16ga.). So far, a 100% of the time they break off below the wood surface with no tool marks and no trying to grab with a pliers or vise grip, with that being said I'll probably experience the exception some day. It really doesn't leave anything more than the original tear out and is much faster. Give it a test on some scrap, I think you'll find similar results. Keep up the great work, I always look forward to your vids.

Nice job John. I have made literally hundreds of cabinet doors and have approached it using various methods but I have never thought of doing it the way you did it here. Looks like a good workable method. I really like the spline you added to the joint for strength. Excellent work. Also, thanks for the tip on dealing with the errant pin nail. I'll have to try that technique next time

That trick with the biscuit joiner and the butt joints was ingenious!!

Great job John! The door frame method is brilliant. One thing I noticed is how you prepare the stock,(like most I've seen on these type videos), when you joint the face and put it down and reach for another. How about; joint one face and flip it around and joint the adjacent edge. After you finish those parts plane the faces to thickness, then reset the planer and plane the rough edges. Finally plane all the styles and rails to final width. My last pass is on the finishing speed that leaves a very smooth edge. To me that seems the most efficient. Not only are we woodworker a strange bunch but very opinionated!

I think it's cool as hell that you'v done this starting with rough lumber.

I really like the design, and thanks for sharing your work. I was looking for cabinet-making basics and came across this one. I originally thought that a back piece could be glued to a front accent frame as the most basic form. I realized that might not be the sturdiest construction though. For your design, I saw you routed out the gap on two separate pieces to give the front frame piece a nice touch, but it looked like the end result was basically what I was thinking in the first place, except kind of done in reverse--with the back piece attached to the miniature accent piece rather than the full accent frame for the main connection, but connected to the main frame on the edge. If you go with the two-piece accent (which does give those nice 45 lines), would routing out a gap on the main frame's rear to match the depth of the back piece make sense to provide a seating arrangement, so the connection at the edge of the back piece is connected on two sides (side and front) to the main frame as well as to the smaller accent piece? I get that cabinet doors don't typically get pressure applied to the main panel, but just from a sturdiness/adhesive perspective? I also thought I'd say that I really like that design, but I was thinking that it would look nice with those miniature pieces rounded/rising at where they connect at the corners. Not sure how to do that but if I get around to building I'll try it 😀 Edit--oh yeah, and those corner half-moon biscuits are a really neat idea!

Really enjoyed the video. I love the creative crap - the floor mats to keep work from moving while sanding; the clamps from 2x4's - all EXTREMELY resourceful. As I build stuff, I keep coming back to your videos for ideas (especially when I'm trying not to overbuild - like trying to use 1/2" ply for shop cabinets instead of 3/4" - your ideas and techniques are helpful). Some of your stuff looks like it will not hold up, but you definitely seem honest enough to own up to stuff that falls apart. You made me a big believer in glue (though I still won't use construction adhesive - but that's becasue I find it too messy)
