Steph! This recipe came just in time for me! My grandpa is turning 90 on Christmas Eve, and I've been wanting to make these for him. I remember him always talking about how his mom would make buñuelos when he was little. He would get so nostalgic and choke back tears. Now, because of you, I am going to make some for him! Thank you so much!💖
My mom would make these on new year's Eve every year....and as kids we would blow our whistles, n light up firecrackers in the sixties...so many memories.
Hi my boy friend who is came from Mexico. I’d love to make this bread for him. I got the syrup part, but Couldn’t gets your flour measurements. I love watching you cooking. Your boys are adorable .
Steph, My dad just died and he loved all these things, I will be making for my siblings and mom, I know they will love it and think of our apa...thank you
It’s so Interesting how there is different types of buñuelos. The ones my family makes are snowflake shaped and are covered in cinnamon and sugar and no syrup! I’m not hating let’s make that clear I love seeing different types of things! Looks good 🙌🏻
We don't use sryup either. Just plain sugar and my grandma just fries them with out putting them on the pan like she did. Definitely interesting how everyone cooks them differently
My grandma & made them in snow flake or flower design as well covered in sugar & cinnamon...Im guessing each family has different ways of making them depending on what part of mexico there family from.
@@Viewsontheroad I love that you look great in every color you feel like as it comes! I love the dark very much after the lighter colors! And I will love when it goes light again!
I revisit your previous recipes. Always feels like a bonus when I do. I’m one of your quiet viewers. Thanks for all the time you take to show how to make each recipe. I’m not a skipper. I also like endings they are so cute. Thank you for being YOU always.!!
Thank you so much for posting this my heart is warm and fuzzy at first I felt some type away seeing our beloved recipes shared online but my mother was hit by a car and her memory is not like it used to be so all her recipes are gone and my son loves these his grandmother use to make for him and now I can make them thanks to you and I appreciate it very much, and the way you guys talk remind me of my family 🥰🍷
Thank you for sharing this recipe. My Spanish Teacher taught us how to make theses when I was 13 years old (50 years ago). I made them every year for Christmas until I left home and lost the recipe. I have not heard the end of from my family since. I will surprise them this next Christmas. She had some variations: 1. add 1/2 tsp of vanilla to the water. 2. Lard instead of shortening 3. 25 grams of dough rolled to 6 inch rounds and cut the center out using a thimble. They would completely puff up around the cut out, like a donut. Then just powdered sugar. She grew up in Mexico City and I am sure their are as many variations as there are Mexican cooks. Thank you again and my family thanks you.
My grandma used to make these I never got a chance to learn or get her recipe before she passed. Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to explain everything so clearly I appreciate it so much. ❤️❤️❤️
After watching this, I guess I still do not understand people who complain about videos being too long or people talk too much. I am not of Mexican heritage but love the food and culture. It really helps me to see the entire process and the tips and tricks that mom and grandma said. I appreciated everything said and shared in the video and all of Views on the Road videos. It helps when cooking or baking so much. Please keep educating up of food of Mexico. It helps us a lot. :)
@@garlicgirl3149 I stretch them out thinner than a tortilla,my mix has different ingredients, and my gramma would roll in her grave if I did my buñuelos like this girl's. But I give this girl her props for trying.
@@giovannisocci8793 You know one thing I am learning in my culinary journey of other countries and their cuisine is how everyone makes the same dish differently depending on the economics and region of the people. I follow a few Mexican cooks and I tell you they all take the same dish and make it different. Some of those differences can be big and some small but different none the less. I saw the method you mention done on the knee! Another did it like some do with thin crust pizza and pinch it out and yet two others said they grew up with it made as in this video. I think it is just family differences and preferences with the other influences sprinkled in too. In the end we all just want tasty treats! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@@garlicgirl3149 You are right, but I ll tell you I add a little orange zest to my flour and they are to die for. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you too.
My grand babies are in love with these. I'm so grateful for all of your amazing recipes & simple instructions so that anyone can just follow along with you & Cloud.
I enjoyed this video. I really like how you explaine to everyone how important it is to help in the kitchen, do the dishes, get things ready, clean up messes. I know I appreciate it when someone jumps in and helps.
I always made Bunuelos when I was younger with my Mom. I never made them as an adult. Today I made test batch, I cut your recipe in half. They came out so good! I forgot to buy oranges so I sprinkled Cinnamon sugar instead. I'm making the complete recipe and miel for Thanksgiving. I know my family will love them..especially with the MIEL. Thank you.
Steph! I found your channel about 3 months ago and I have fallen in love with your charisma and your families bond with one another. You are a rockstar and never forget it!.❤
Thank you so much for uploading this recipe! My abuelita died before we could get any of her recipes. This made me tear up watching it because I missed her buñuelos. Makes me miss her so much. I’ll definitely be making it this Christmas. Thank you! 😢❤️❤️
Thank you for always sharing with us a part of your culture through your amazing recipes. Your videos are always a treat to watch and I’m so happy for how far you’ve come. I hope so many good things for you and your beautiful family including your lovely lovely lovely mamá who’s recipes we’ve had the privilege of enjoying. I pray for her health and I’m so grateful for this channel. Just felt like sharing that 😁
I love your videos and your recipes look so inviting. Im going to make some this Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I have a question. I can't knead anymore so how long would I let mixer knead the dough for me. Thank you for sharing your amazing recipes. God Bless you and your wonderful family . Happy Thanksgiving
I really like how you show each step when you cook and I can see when I would need to add more water or not. Every climate is different and your method of teaching is valuable. I have been trying to learn how to make sour dough bread and just following the recipe doesn't always produce the same consistency of sour dough as in the videos I watch. Thank you for all your hard work and effort.
Ahhhh, memories of my grandma making these, empanadas, and sopaipillas! Your mannerisms in rolling the masa and in expressions and banter between you and your sister bring many great memories of my sister , who became an angel a year ago. i want to make the bunuelos so I can get that cinnamon/piloncillo/frying aroma in my kitchen too ♥️💕. Thanks for bringing this into our homes!! Love all of your videos !! And thank you Cloud for your one-liners and great sense of humor!!
You are wonderful!!! I loved watching this...oh my goodness those look delicious...I would eat them up...as soon as safe......and your camera girl ..so funny!!
you guys are so fun to listen to, the sis relationship is beautiful. I have two older sisters it's totally nothing even close. I've said it before love your channel.
I'm Salvadoran and this hits real close to home for me my Tia who passed away a few year's ago always made this for me at my request...it's my favorite..thank you ♥️
You have such a commitment to these foods to work as hard as you do! It amazed me when you start kneading such a sticky dough and you wroth it until it becomes soft, supple and NOT sticky! You are amazing. When I'm not low caring, I will try several of these work outs!!
I was watching a RU-vid video of the best Mexican Foods to try. I looked on your site and you have most of them YAY! I am watching your videos and taking notes to put them into a written recipe. This takes a long time and I pray that it turns out like what you would make. They turn out FANTASTIC! I cannot imagine how long it takes you and Cloud to put together videos. We have watched you for years and have grown to love you all. You both make us feel loved and like we are dear friends. We love you all. Thank you!
My mom use to make these all the time but it didn't take her that long to make the the masa and they were soooooo goooood I think I'll make some today 😃 my kids always enjoyed it too....!
Both my husband and I grew up with most of your recipes you share with us. What i don't remember how to make i look up your recipes🙌. Lol. And when my husband makes his recipes that his mom showed him. Our kitchen and our belly's are satisfied. With what we know and your amazing recipes our waistlines don't stand no chance☺🙌❤
I like the way you think. How old are you? I ask because I'm single Mexican male looking for wife and family. It might sound weird asking, but I'm just given it a try.
Nothing better than, "Homemade comfort food made by hand with love". Cannot beat it!! Definitely going to try these. Love your channel and how you get your hands in there when you cook, because that's real down home cooking.
I really love your way of cooking. I'm that way in our kitchen. Love definitely shines in my way of cooking. Thanks for all you and cloudy do. Appreciate your sisters as much as you can. My baby sister is my... Whole Life... Peace and Love.✌❤😎🤘
I absolutely love how you adore your family!!! I agree when you start cooking, whether it is bunuelos, tortillas or any other family recipe, your ancestors are there guiding you! Love it and I adore you and Cloud and love your family ties, not everyone has that. God Bless until your next video!
My Nana and mom used to make these, but not for Christmas. They were made for New Year's. I make them now since they both have passed away. I make Biscochuelos (sp?) for Christmas. They are so good.
Querida Stephanie.
These are my favorite. Can’t wait to try to make them myself. Thanks for always being so transparent and real with us. And always so welling to share your recipes. Gracias
Thank you for all those words asking your kids the family to help out with sometimes you know so many years doing cooking I love to cook though with the cleaning I need a break thank you cloud and cook 🧑🏻🍳girl bless use
I miss my grandma's bunuelos!. We ate them with beans mostly, but dessert as well. Lol, you got me on the hot water causing arthritis. I've worked in the healthcare field (direct elder patient care)for 40 years, and that's a first for me.
Thank you so much for a wonderful recipe! I was race in the US and did not learn to make them until now. Thank you for all the love you poured into your cooking and teaching us the best techniques. Blessings to you and your family.❤️👏🏻🤗
I'll have to try to roll out with a rolling pin because I'm the only one left who still makes them like my Nana. Plus I'm the Matriarch of my Big familia use to sit around the table hand stretching the dough, witch can be fun. But not when you're alone. So thanks for the tip. Love the show brings back lot's of memories. Keep up the good work.
I wanted to let you know that I did your recipe. We tried to find someone who could make these to my father-in-law‘s dying wish to have some thing made like this and since none of us know how to make it I took on the responsibility of doing it for him. I watched your video a few times before I knew I could do this are used to make tortillas all the time growing up I could do this. Do you have a bright inspirational outlook and that just made me wanna do it myself so I hope I did you proud I know I did myself proud I wanted to thank you for posting your videos and helping someone like me to fill one of my father-in-law’s wishes.
I’m finally going home for Xmas after 3 years so I can’t wait to have buñuelos from my grandma. If I would’ve stayed in Germany I would’ve made some for my boyfriend and his mom. They love all the Mexican food I make because the Mexican restaurants here are not so great. Thank you for your recipes, they have helped me a lot here in Germany.
Thank you for making this. I was afraid I would only find step by step videos like in a Buzzfeed style, and this video was everything I was looking for. I am mixed, and that call to connect to your ancestors was everything I was looking for while searching for this. Thank you. ❤
Hi! My 2 grandchildren Cali 5 years old & Caleb 9 years old helped knead dough & roll out. They did so good and enjoyed eating them. I had them watch your video while learning. Thank you for your recipe. I wish I could attach picture to show them cooking.
Oh my goodness! Please tell them that I'm proud of them and so happy they enjoyed the recipe. As a grandma you are goals, thank you for being a loving grammy, and showing up for your grand babies. Wishing you and your family a Happy Holiday Season 💖
I so love watching you both y’all are so inspirational y’all make me laugh so hard I cry true love and care and respect I see in you both I wish I was one of your sisters
Thank you so much for this recipe. My friends old grandma made them. She was in her 90’s. She alway put a Penney in the oil pan, she said it stopped them from sticking.
I am going to make this on Christmas, they look soooooooo good and delicious!! I might not even be able to wait that long and I'll make them tomorrow. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe, you are my number one chef!!
Jess yeah. i didn’t know that till a few years ago. my grandmas were more of bunuelos because they were crunchy and crispy, like Views are. whereas fry bread is more bread-y like you said.
My grandmother's recipe called for agua de anise y canela when making the dough. So instead of pain hot water we put the anise/cinnamon tea. Then while frying put a coin in the water so that your oil doesn't smoke while frying.
Ohhhhh an mmmm love Mexican Sweet bread Yummmy ,Thank u for sharing your recipes bring s back such good memories for me with mom who doesnt cook as much an my Gran Mother Grace
Hi Steph and Cloud!! I've been enjoying your channel for sometime now and you two make me feel like you are here in my house (your) house. You both are so natural and make me feel right at home with your laughter and how you interact with us...like familia. Maybe better than family. But for what it's worth you both are a great team. Muchas bendiciones para las dos y sus familias. Big hugs to you both.
Indeed I enjoy your videos and it has helped me learn your recipes So Awesome but most of all I enjoy your personality. Its not too overpowering or bland. You make your videos exciting to watch without over-flooding them with too much talk and yet, get right to the point of what your making. Thank You!! for sharing your kitchen and recipes.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talents and beautiful personality with us.
