My great grandparents were from southern Germany and we still have our paper star ornaments like these that my Grossmutter made on our tree!

Years ago (and I mean years) my dad learned to make these at somewhere at some event. For some reason they caught his fancy. He taught us how to make them although I immediately forgot the process. We made a bunch for Christmas. He dipped them in paraffin, then in glitter. He hung them from our living room ceiling that Christmas. Any one over 5 ft 11 inches had doge the stars. I think I might try my hand at making some.

I learned how to make these in the early 1960s and I am 64. This is a fun craft you can do with children (as long as you are patient)

This is a great tutorial. I have been crafting for years and I have to say this was the most difficult craft for me to learn. But I refused to give up, and after messing up my first 2 stars, I finally got it on the third try. The third star looks great! I will be making many more by watching your tutorial at the same time. I know that I can't make them on my own without your tutorial. You are an excellent teacher!

I’ve been making these “German stars” since 1999. I saw these being made on the Carrol Devaul Show. I attached them I made crosses with them. Other designs just attaching the corners of each star. I cut my paper strips 1/4” wide, and 11” long. My stars 🌟 are smaller maybe 1 1/2” X 1 1/2” I always cut a diagonal at each end of the paper. It makes it easier to insert through the weave. When I started making the crown part, I alway remember it should look like a shirt collar.

All it takes is paper... I should try making these sometime. And maybe find a book on origami... folding paper might be an interesting hobby.
