Fun fact: The Moravian Stars are deeply rooted in Bethlehem, PA. The city of Bethlehem was an early colonial colony of primarily Moravian decent and to this day, the star is very common in most homes and for sale in gift shops.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I looked and looked for a video like yours where the stars are made and dipped in wax. I remember these ornaments as a child and later on they got destroyed in a fire in our ornament box. Oil accidentally got spilled in the box and whEn my Dad plugged in the lights, it exploded and caught on fire. He immediately pulled out the plug, but by the time he got water on the fire, the ornaments were burned up and ruined! There were some of the stars made out of waxed paper and had pretty different color sparkles on them, too! There were also some glass birds with feathers and fan tails! A lot of old German ornaments, I guess, because my family has some German ancestors. 😍

Very nice, Kandye!! I remember having those on our Christmas tree every year. I was born in 1956 and I feel like they were kind of old even then, so maybe they were from my grandma? She was born in 1890. It would have been cool to know their history especially if she had made them! I remember one was pink and white and they glittered... very neat, so thank you for sharing this!

Incredible demonstration, really complicated yet you made the instructions so clearly . I was wondering about the wax dipping ,my goodness that was well worth doing completely changed the final result ,loved it, I'm in the U.K, never heard of that type of wax ,especially when used for fruit preserve, I'm guessing it's like the waxed papers that come with the jam pot covers . I am really enjoying catching up with all your videos, they are so important and extremely inspiring, thankyou for all you do in keeping creative mindfull crafts alive. The time ,behind the scenes that you must put into making these videos is often unnoticed, the historical work you do ,will be there forever. Thankyou so much.

Is it okay to use the wax remnants of a scented wax jar candle to dip them in, or does it have to be the unscented paraffin? Or could I use beeswax? I’ve got some chunks of beeswax from a failed attempt at making beeswax candles (much harder than I thought it would be, unfortunately)
@cabincrafts2239
@cabincrafts2239 Год назад
As long as the scented wax is not colored. Bear in mind that beeswax might change the color a little.
@rosemariemoore3859
@rosemariemoore3859 Год назад
could you dip them in candle wax instead of canning wax. i have a box of candle making stuff. At my thrift store they have a section with used candles, you can get wax for a few bucks instead of buying a brick from a craft store.
@cabincrafts2239
@cabincrafts2239 Год назад
I'm sure you can but just bear in mind that parrafin is clear and candle wax will probably alter the color.
