My dad goes absolutely crazy for a nice pizza, and he likes making homemade pizza too. He's never really gotten the base right to be honest, not bad just not amazing, but this video changed his pizza game. He was absolutely ecstatic with the results, the base turns out perfect and crispy with nice bubbles in the crust. He told me to say thank you for the great video ! 😀
Here in NY there are some places that are open late which will serve you a cold cheese slice. Its a freshly heated slice with an extra handful of cold mozzarella cheese on top. Keeps the roof of your mouth safe, and adds some extra cheesy-ness. Its the ultimate drunk food.
Avatre100 ME!! RIGHT NOW!!! His videos are like netflix series to me. They're so addictive and binge-able. I've never camr across a channel like this before lol.
Dude, it's just straight up not even close. That's generic paint-by-numbers "gourmet" pizza, not NYC style. As much as I like Babbish, he really fell down on this one.
"24 hours later and you can tell because I'm wearing a different shirt." I love how he still uses the same jokes. Stick to your roots. It still feels like I'm watching a recent video. 😂
it's funny when a new yorker pizza owner opens a shop elsewhere in the country and new yorkers stop by and be like "nah this ain't as good as pizza from new york"
@@johncampbell9107 This was actually proven to be the case by Food Theory when they made the exact same pizzas with water from New York, Chicago, Maryland, and California (if I recall correctly). NYC treats its water a specific way that changed how the crust cooked in the oven and resulted in a different taste from the other three.
This is the first episode where his wedding ring is gone. Honestly, after watching the latest episode of Being With Babish, it's interesting to see how far Andrew has come in the 3 years that followed. You rock, Andrew.
I really liked the recipe, but are you sure you couldn't get that dough thinner? I feel like people in New York would fight you over a crust that thick.
Buy a stone; build an oven in the backyard if you have one; or make Sicilian pizza instead. It's different, but equally amazing. I'm sure there's a video &/or instructions here or somewhere on the Net. There's a pizza school in NYC, if you're near there.
You can use unglazed quarry tiles (lead-free!) at Lowes/Home Depot for a few bucks. Great info here: home.howstuffworks.com/green-living/diy-pizza-stone.htm. Steels are about $35 @ Amazon
If I could make a suggestion... I used to make the pizza dough for a wood-fired pizza restaurant in NH for a few years. The trick to getting a good, workable dough that's not sticky is getting the mixture of ingredients and timing down. We always would let our yeast rise in a container of room temperature water. This gives the yeast a chance to fully activate and dissolve. Then throw your dry ingredients (sugar, flour, salt) together into the mixer. Stir your bowl or container of activated yeast and pour that into the mixer with the cold iced water. Turn on the mixer and once the water begins incorporating with the dry ingredients (about 90 seconds in), slowly pour in your olive or vegetable oil while the mixer is going. The key was always adding the oil slowly and at the time that the dough ball was just beginning to form. The dough shouldn't stick to the blade or bowl if you have the right ratios. Try it out if you like and see if there's any difference in the consistency and feel of your dough.
Eric Pilgrim Ahhhh no. But I've been to a few of the Flatbread locations. I worked at another small Italian/pizza place. Two locations: one in Nashua and one in West Lebanon, NH. LUI LUIS!!
You wanna throw down brah? The things are huge floppy calzones with pretty much no toppings that you have to fold to fit in your mouth, and have a grease to food ratio of about 1:1. New York as a whole still sucks too. Fight me
The intro song is "Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs" from the show Frasier (sung by the show's star, Kelsey Grammer). Funny enough, it was actually the end credits music
NinjaSlime Gaming if you haven't figured it out yet, it's because videos get blocked in some countries due to copyright laws. It's now been unblocked. RU-vid just stops notifications if a country blocks it, yours or not
Then the next episode is in a different kitchen. Hope everyone involved in the cause of no more wedding band are happy and healthy, cause it sure seems like Babish is.
So many people in the comments getting angry over pizza. Yeesh. I'm a native New Yorker, so I admit Babish didn't get the look of the pizza exactly right. A real New York pizza has thin crust, a ton of grease, and the gooiest cheese imaginable. Also, it burns the roof of your mouth the minute you try to eat it, because it comes straight out of the oven when it's served to you. New York pizza is cheap as hell, but somehow extremely delicious. However, whether Babish got the look right or not doesn't matter. He got the basics down. And it probably tastes amazing. I kind of wish I was eating pizza right now instead of a sandwich.
Guys Those of you criticizing him First of all he lives in New York I’m sure he knows what was done wrong in this video by now Second of all he was recreating the pizza from the movie not the pizza from an actual New York restaurant
"Lives in New York" yeah and I live in a hut that I made out from shards of kryptonite and crusty scabs. I live in NYC my whole life this man does not know his NY pizza.
@@CChampLongplays new Yorkers get so uppity about there shitty pizza I've actually made this recipe and it's fantastic better then shitty boring new york pizza
@@CChampLongplays 1st: If you both live in NY than it's actually word against word. 2nd: Somehow, while English is your mother language (and for me it's not) you've missed second argument. 3rd: NY pizza (as any american pizza) is just aberration of original one sot stop whining about it. It's like complaining Chinese fake iPhone isn't real Chinese fake iPhone. Don't get me wrong, NY is nice place, I was there few times. I like USA generally, people are very nice there. But pizza is Italian dish, if you really wanna argue about original versions of USA's food find sth made originally in USA.
Joseph Ochoa I once ordered a pizza with half no cheese, no sauce, pineapple and onion and other half cheese, partial sauce, and pineapple and ate it with ranch so. I am my own meme.
Oh my gosh, I literally never hear anyone talk about this movie. Such a big part of my childhood, just watching that intro was a nice bit of nostalgia. The video was awesome, love it!
You might want to mention that the flour measurements are in weighted ounces and how they are not equal to US fluid ounces. Most people may just convert the ounces to cups which is not nearly enough flour. You'll end up with a sticky, slimy mess otherwise :)
therealhomor 0°C is freezing 100°C is boiling. That makes a lot more sense than 32°F freezing and 212°F boiling Anyway, metric uses the kelvin system, based around 0K is -273.15°C is -459.67°F
Everyone is here complaining about the amount of comments of people complaining it not being a new york pizza meanwhile all i see here is *gUyS cAlM dOwN*
Nice videos bro!!! Reallllllllllly love them always good to watch them even if is something I am not going to cook :P I would like to leave a suggestion... My native language is not English, sometimes is hard to catch the recipe just by listening... could you add them to the video description? Thank you very much and keep it up please :)
Even for native english speakers it's much easier to read a recipe while cooking rather than have to pause and play a video with hands covered in flour.
Gregory Scott We dont do that docking bullshit in NY. The dough is made equally flat the crust rise comes from no sauce and cheese weighed down on the crust.
Haha no calls yet but I'll keep camping out behind the network president's house and throwing paper airplane love notes scribbled on the back of my resume through her window
How do countries see a video to copyright strike it? Who gives the copyright strike? Like do they use bots or something? What could be the copyright violation here? Sorry, I know might be a stupid question.
TMNT 2 is a cult classic favorite of mine. I remember always watching this opening scene and my mouth drooled so much. Thanks for showing us how to make this.
Now I just want him to do recipes from the cartoon, including the Pizza Gyōza from the 2012 series. They actually released an official cookbook on the pizza recipes.
Just watched your chicago style pizza, and figured you had a new york style one already made. Awesome that you started it out with the opening to TMNT2. I loved that opening. The pizza always looked absolutely amazing!!!
These movies were great and I think they still hold up pretty nice for what they are and the movie equipment they had for the time. And I want pizza literally every time I watch the opening scene
@FRED THE THOT SLAYER Chicago pizza and New York pizza are two completely different dishes, my man. Saying one is better than the other is like saying an Italian Beef is better than a Philly.
Yes, Babish, that scene *did* make me want pizza, but I'm stuck in my dorm with a cold and can't breathe without pain, so I'll watch your video as a good consolation
lol i'm one of the few people that actually liked that movie but yes, i absolutely want to try that pizza even though there is no way there are 99 cheeses delicious enough to go on a pizza. we're gonna end up with some funky shit on there.
