In this video, we'll show you a variety of ways you can use Alcohol Ink to make coasters and other amazing works of art.
In the first part of this video, you'll learn the basic steps of how to create Petri Dish Coaster Art. There are only a few simple steps but we will also outline how you can switch up your techniques to get different results.
You can also use ArtResin Alcohol ink on Yupo paper! Yupo paper is a plastic based paper that allows the alcohol ink to ‘float’ over the surface. You can drip, paint, or sponge the ink onto the paper and cover it with ArtResin to give your art that extra punch!

Update I bought the sinker and used it with some of my alcohol inks and it worked! The splash effect looks amazing in person!

I bought the Art Resin 1 gallon kit for over $100. From the picture it shows 2 gallon containers, so I thought it was going to be 1 gallon of each, but I only received 1 gallon of resin with no hardener. My question is, is this supposed to be a top coat and is already mixed or should I be excepting a gallon of hardener.

I bought that as well. If you zoom in on the picture, you will see it is 2 bottles that are 64oz each, for a total of 128oz/1 gallon, when mixed together. I would contact them, as you should've received 2 bottles, since they do not get combined until you are ready to use. Hope that helps

Whats the difference between your ink sinker white ink and rangers white alcohol ink or pinata white alcohol ink?

The white is our Ink Sinker. Ink Sinker is white alcohol ink, but our Ink Sinker is unique because it's heavier than most. This means that it has the ability to drive the alcohol ink down into the resin.

Do you need a respirator when using the resin? I know other brands suggest using one.

Yes, you need a respirator with filters that are made to block vapours

I bought a kit from the website and tried my first petri dish, but the top was not shiny like the bottom, and the corners were not good. They were sharp and looked rough. How can I make it look better? What is it I am missing?

My question, and maybe another artist can answer, is... using the kit, my pieces come out quite uneven. I would like to use them as coasters, but cups are wobbly on them. Do I need to sand them down and top coat them to get them flatter?

to achieve the "petri" effect you must use alcohol inks and InkSinker. I don't think it will work with mica.

I have read that alcohol inks are not very colourfast. Do the alcohol inks fade in the items you make?

Hi Elaine, you are correct that alcohol inks tend to fade quicker than pigments. For this reason, we have selected only the most lightfast dyes have for our collection of ArtResin Alcohol Inks.

Hi Rima, they are the same, it is the Ink Sinker that creates the effect of pulling the ink through the resin.

I bought the sinker and some of your inks but it didn't work. Does it have to be your resin? I'm new to this

Be sure that you shake the InkSinker thoroughly prior to use. You can drop the alcohol ink, then drop the InkSinker, then more ink, more sinker etc...you should see the sinker pull the ink through the resin.

It’s basically white alcohol ink, but their kind is called ink sinker and it causes alcohol ink colors to have a sinking splash effect

Hi Angela, no- Ink Sinker will not have the same effect using regular paint, it is specially formulated to work with Alcohol Inks to give those interesting tendrils in your resin.

How is this a tutorial? All the globs fell thru and hit the surface (top) blocking the cool tendrils. This looks like what not to do.
