Yeah it stays there because it's 12 psi if you're optimistic

@@ShiboTheGodfather I have N Instant Pot Pro. So it does 15 PSI. The stickers usually stay. I use them inside and outside of the hole for good measure. 😎👍🏼

Maybe this is a dumb question, but after the popcorn is that water that's added? and if so how much? Just enough to cover the kernals?
@KitchenMycology
@KitchenMycology Месяц назад
@@omgxwtf Yeah. For the initial soak/hydration, just cover the popcorn with an inch or two of water over the kernel level.

Since you dont use this method anymore, due to employing UB tek, this info will be more for your viewers. 1) The use of gypsum in LC/grains/substrate does nothing. I ran this experiment years ago, and there is zero benefit by any noticeable metric. Does not aid in colonization or reduce rate of contamination at all. 2) Those grain jars you made are overkill, at 4 per lid those syringe filters can be expensive if youre making several lids. Microppose makes hydrophobic adhesive filter disks, and youll only need one of them per lid. Last time I bought them they were .10c/ea. 3) much like #1, the use of foil to cover your lids is completely unnecessary and does not merit use. Many of us in the community have not been using foil for years, and have incurred zero raise in rate of contamination. 3) If youre using an InstaPot I would suggest your run time to be 2.5hrs, as it only reaches approximately 11psi as opposed to a pressure cooker/canner that regulates at 15psi. This will heavily reduce your rate of contamination, the kernels will not burst. I even run 2.5hrs on my Drippy Corn runs in my pressure cooker. Hope this helps 😁

Good advice. I'm always trying to learn. What size do you make your holes for the sticker filters disks? I imagine, as big as possible for the disk size? Thanks!

@@KitchenMycology O shit 😲 you replied! Rarely do creators interact with me. Definitely caught me off guard 😆 I use a 7/16 drill bit for the FAE holes on my grain jar lids. And yes, you are correct, I make them as big as I can. That is as large as I can make them before I run into problems with the 3M adhesive ring on the Microppose hydrophobic synthetic filter disks. Happy Cultivating brother!

My only suggestion is you let the jars fully cool 8-12 hours before inoculating. Too hot can reduce the growth rate 😊

Grear vid! About to start my journey. Why do you leave the jars a fraction open in the insta pot? Wont the FAE vents be enough instead? About to do my first try soon, so thanks for any answers

The vents may be enough. It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling to think that leaving the lids loose will Sterilize the grain better. 😉

Hi, thanks for a great video! Do you allow the pressure to release slowly or use the quick release?
@KitchenMycology
@KitchenMycology 8 месяцев назад
I usually do it at night and leave them till next morning, so the pressure has released slowly by itself. I have released the pressure as slowly as I can, many times, with no issues. I like to leave it till next day cause the jars have cooled down and I can tighten the lids immediate when I open the PC. But I don't always get to do that. Thanks!
@KitchenMycology

I'm making a new video on Pressure Cooking where I'll go obber all this stuff. I always leave it to depressurize slowly instead of venting manually. I prefer to wait for it to cool off enough and take them out right after, but if I can't, I'll do it at night and take them out the next day.
@BellaBaneful
@BellaBaneful 4 месяца назад
Stickers I guess. There’s a self healing syringe port in the middle with one hole on either side on the lid and on the underside the holes are covered with a filter square piece to allow for some exchange. 😊

Two questions: Once the popcorn has finished hydrating for 20 minutes do you manually vent the Instant Pot to keep the popcorn from cooking further? Then you mention cooling the hydrated popcorn for 5 minutes-is this when you drain the popcorn? Thank you.
@KitchenMycology
@KitchenMycology 5 месяцев назад
Yes. Manually vent after the 20 minute hydration. Then drain it and cool for about 5 minutes while it drains.

thank u very much, really clear explanation and super useful. i just have a question that is related on the time that i should spend for doing the full process. Once you fill the jairs with grain already cooked (9:34) , it is necessary to esterilize them in that moment or could i keep them for 1 or 2 days for example and then esterilize them? I ask you this because i dont know if i will be able to make the full process because of the time that it takes. hope i explained myself :).......sorry about my english, huges from Argentina!
@KitchenMycology
@KitchenMycology 11 месяцев назад
Un abrazo! El remojo de hidratación inicial toma 20 minutos solamente. Pero si no puedes seguir el proceso enseguida, puedes sellar los potes por varios días y seguir el proceso luego. Translation: The initial hydration soak only takes 20 minutes, but if you can't continue the process right away, you can seal the jars for several days and continue the process later.

Hello just wondering if you vent the IP to allow it to fill with steam then close it and begin sterilizing the popcorn?
@KitchenMycology
@KitchenMycology 8 месяцев назад
I'm not sure what you mean. I do it just like in the video. 20 minutes to hydrate, let cool for about 5 minutes, fill the jars, then PC for 90 minutes. I do it at night to leave it to de-pressurize cool and cool on its own. Hope this answers your question.

So i have an instant pot but it doesn't have the pressure cooker button or a yogurt either any suggestions? Its a instant pot IP-LUX the pre-setting options that it has is rice, multigrain, porridge, stem, slow cook, sauté, egg, cake, Meat/Stew, and Soup/Broth.

They show how to set it to high pressure and other settings: www.restonyc.com/how-do-i-turn-my-instant-pot-to-high-pressure-ip-lux/ That model of only goes up to 10 psi, when others go to 12.5 or 15, so I would add 5 or 10 minutes over the recommended times to compensate. You can also use a Streamer Pot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rucP0f8kE4E.html Hope this helps.
