I want to say- it's amazing how much having a little character at the bottom of the screen with the subtitles like a dialog box helps me focus on a technical tutorial. Thank you for sharing!

SOME THINGS I FORGOT TO MENTION: - the vertex snapping / wobbly effect many ps1 games had - I don’t go over this because it’s not really a technique I use myself, but if you want to achieve that there’s a few tutorials in the playlist that can help you :) just wanted to say that in case someone wanted to fully replicate the look - when creating image textures In this retro look, 256 x 256 pixels is the recommended size - in the download folder with all the assets, there's a final project file with all the animations in place, and there's one with no animations, just all the assets laid out - that way you have the flexibility to play with both! happy creating :)

I can really relate to going from not understanding a word of Blender's technical terms to suddenly feeling awesome for being able to think in the software and understanding the what the nerdy sounding names like "constraints" and "bone hierarchy" means. So dope, man. Thanks for this video.

If the title is referring to making animations that look like it was on a PS1 then here is a lot here in the end result that is much much more advanced and different on how it would look on a PS1. I can give that it’s low poly but that is about it.
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS 8 месяцев назад
yup! and most importantly the vertex snapping is missing - the goal here isn’t to perfect the ps1 look as I mention in the video, but if that’s what you’re looking for - there’s some more detailed tutorials in our playlist :)
@litjellyfish
@litjellyfish 8 месяцев назад
@@DUMBDAYS ok :) I was looking for the vertex precision yes, and the texture warping and the Gouraud shading and the dithered 16bit framebuffer colors. Those for me is key visual treats of that console generation look (Saturn/PS1)

btw, i tested it already, so if you want mixamo animation to work correctly, your human body must be in T pose

ah yes true! I think you can also get away with it if its not in a perfect t-pose, just spread out enough, but a proper t-pose is definitely ideal :) thanks for emphasizing that point

How do you make long animations with several different scenes? Are they all in one project or do you render different ones and then assemble them in editing?
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS 8 месяцев назад
Usually if it’s different Scenes then I do different project files ! Either brand new if it’s something complex that would eat up a lot of processing power or I’ll take whatever current project I have, duplicate it, and then build off that , like for this animation in the tutorial - the others I made for the music video I took that original project file, duplicated it, and then added more stuff off in the distance. That way I can go back to the previous scene if needed :)
@therealtrashhorrorstory5979
@therealtrashhorrorstory5979 8 месяцев назад
@@DUMBDAYS thanks for the answer ! How many frames did you have in one scene?
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS 8 месяцев назад
@@therealtrashhorrorstory5979 honestly just depends on the animation of the scene! there's no real limit, however most I usually do are in the 300-500 frame range

Painting it, but that’s a bit tricky with the details, but if you’re in photoshop you could play with changing the hues, or selecting / masking the skin section and painting that way !

it's hard to say for sure, but if it's simple stuff like this on the Eevee engine, you should be able to do it - just might take awhile to render! as long as it doesnt get too complicated
