*PLEASE NOTE: I have a video about this in the Cat Stuff Playlist, but I do suggest always MIXING turkey with ANOTHER meat source (ie. half turkey, half chicken) since cats can be sensitive to the L-Tryptophan - an amino acid that can cause sleepiness - in the turkey meat.

Dear Cat Fitness Lady, I wanted to thank you for saving my cat's life. Really, I'm serious. After the sad story of Rad Cat's demise, (A raw pet food that was sabotaged out of business.) my cat went on a hunger strike. She is 17 and has gut issues since we got her at the age of 10. That brand was all she would eat. I tried transitioning her over a 6 week period. No canned food or kibble or other raw brands, she just turned up her nose until she lost half her body weight and retired to a corner to sleep the rest of her life away. I tried low mercury tuna, sardines, raw and cooked human meat and force fed her bone broth. I researched and thought your instructional video sounded best. I ordered all the ingredients and bought the best meat I could find. $11 a pound for chicken legs. Ouch. I do not own a blender or grinder so I used an old 1980's hand me down food processor and ran the meat through it 3 times. SHE LOVES IT! Upon first feeding and only skin and bones, she scarfed the food down in minutes! It used to take an hour and I would have to lure her to her bowl 2 or 3 times. No more fighting over eating. She eats $5 a pound meat with just as much gusto, but that 1st time I didn't want to fail because I cut corners. She is back to her healthy weight with silky fur and oh so lovey. She seems to know how much we care and now purrs all day long. I have you to thank. You are doing a wonderful job you crazy cat lady. Thank You so much from the bottom of my heart.

I am so happy for your baby. I just rescued a Balinese female from abuse and the streets. I had her checked before I flew her home. She has a bit of a thyroid issue and cannot keep down any dry foods. I am looking for a raw food alternative.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong did you used the blender to mix the meat first then other ingredients? I cut the chicken thighs and did with everything but the chicken pieces seem to big.

@@patmartinez6363 Hello Pat, How do u prepare the raw food for your multi cat household? Also, by commercial foods u mean wet cat food correct? My 6yr old female cat has suspected IBD and chronic diarrhea, occasional vomiting. Still trying to use something to stop the diarrhea & reduce inflammation naturally. She loves ultra smooth pates (Tiny Tasters by Wellness). I guess re: Raw food I think I have to make it ultra smooth & see if she might eat that? I do have other cats, so doubt any leftovers, but want to know how u would portion out bc u have a multiple cat household too. Thanks! 🐈🐈🐈

Is it ok to use commercial pet vitamin supplements to mix in the raw food? The one I give my cats is in syrup form, called LC-Vit. It's vit A,B complex, C, and lysine. And then I plan to continue to feed them their regular canned food with Taurine (canned food in the morning, raw food in the evening).

I USE STELLA AND CHEWY RAW AND IT IS AMAZING FOOD-ALL DONE RIGHT AND IN PATTIES. I USE THE DOG PATTIES FOR MY CATS. THEY LOVE LOVE LOVE IT-NEVER A SPEK LEFT IN THE BOWLS.

@@jenniferhahnfrix2813 Just be careful, because dog food lacks the taurine that is mandatory for cats. Also, many people like fresh raw, as opposed to the high heat method used to make Stella & Chewy.

Cats in Australia loves Kangaroo meat! Our local raw cat food brands have raw minces made either from chicken, rabbits or kangaroos. But I like mixing the kangaroo mince (which contains meat, organs and bones) with chicken meat, hearts and livers since my cat loves chicken. After a few weeks transitioning her from canned food to raw meats she doesn't smell at all, I stop having allergic reactions and her fur is amazingly fluffy and silky.

That's amazing. I also found out that there is a link of cat allergies to the commercial food. If more animals were on this diet than more people could adopt cats without being worried about allergies. I was amazed when I discovered this!!

I run a rescue and am looking to start making our food to try and cut cost a little. With this recipe, you said it's two or three weeks worth of food for one cat. How much, roughly, does this meal cost to make? How much do you feed your cat per meal? We have roughly 80 cats on premises, so would beef/Bison/venison work so we can purchase a full animal? How do you thaw your frozen meals? Do you heat it or just leave it out to thaw? Do you feed once a day or twice? Lots of questions I know.... just want to make sure it's worth doing for our loves.

Adult cats eat 2-3 times a day. You can take all the frozen food from the night before, put it in a bowl of water and put it in the fridge and it will defrost overnight and be ready for the next day. As for amount of food, it depends on the cat's weight. But just to be safe you can start them off with half a cup of food. If they're still hungry, increase the serving.

My 1 year old Male cat has a history of urethra blockage cause he was on dry food, I want to switch him from dry to raw but I'm not sure if it'll be the right thing for him, obviously the vets wont support this idea either so I'm kinda anxious and lost now cause I really love him and I want to do whats best for him.

my one of male cat also has same disease diagnosed today and i started to researching and i think i will switch recently i think we can check it ,after one month go to vet and see full check up informations of your cat if everything will normal so you can go on ,i heard that disease can repeated again so we have no way some vet recommend dry cat food with urinary diet but i cant trust it cuz dry is dry doesnt matter urinary diet or not

It becomes much easier when you get him from kibble➡️can wet food➡️raw. It is much easier to hide a little raw food in the wet food than kibble. You start by adding a little raw then you gradually increase the new food while decreasing the old wet food. I hope that is helpful. And of course you can add water to his food to help keep him hydrated and keep him from getting blocked. You can also add half a cap of apple cider vinegar to his food, that helps to dissolve crystals and stones that commonly cause urinary blocks. Kibble contains plant-based materials which are alkaline and cause stones and crystals. A cat's system needs to be acidic, not alkaline. Apple cider vinegar helps with that. Powdered cranberry extract, usually sold in capsules, is useful for urinary health as well.

I'm super late to this video, but a big meat cleaver is amazing at chopping meat and bones up. My husband does that to prepare the filling for Chinese dumplings. (Without bones for us obviously, but the cleaver is strong enough to pulverize bones also.)

Hit up antique or flea market type places for a manual meat grinder if u don't have or want to spend the $400-$600 on a vitamix or a few hundred on electric meat grinders that all cleverly mention not meant for bones in the fine print cuz their life time grinding bones is ltd. Got me a manual grinder in damn good condition with a # of attachments for $15. If the handle turning seems tedious, u can unscrew handle & use drill to spin it for u.

Hi Jasmine! I have watched all your cat videos, LOVE! I don't have a way to get hearts for the recipe. Since hearts are both an organ and muscle meat, (and source or taurine) o you think I could increase the liver and the taurine portions?

Yaayy thanks Erika! I have a video coming up about the taurine/hearts, but since too much liver can actually cause vitamin A toxicity in cats (I mention this a recent video) you want to keep that portion controlled in the recipe and compensate for the missing hearts with more supplemental taurine and then muscle meat for bulk. NO DO NOT USE MORE ORGANS THAN NEEDED-SHE IS LEAVING OUT THE STOMACH, TRIPE, KIDNEYS, HEART, SPLEEN, ETC ETC. THESE ARE VERY TINY IN REALITY-OVER DOING THE LIVER IS VERY BAD FOR CATS AND IT IS A FILTHY ORGAN TO BOOT. ONLY USE ORGANIC HORMONE FREE CHICKEN

When transitioning a cat to the raw diet, would you recommend making a batch without the vitamins first and slowly adding them to make sure the kitty doesn’t a dislike them and also have a reaction? Also if they refuse the raw food diet all together you won’t be all in with a kitty who won’t eat it?

Pretty sure the red stuff in meat is a pigment that leaks out of the marrow. I'd really say that washing chicken is a no-no, as you can very easily spread salmonella around your kitchen. I'd advise that you get meat from a butcher or somewhere like that as opposed to a supermarket where they intend for the meat to be cooked properly. Regardless, with chicken I would cook it first, even if it's only for 15 minutes to seal the outside.

I wash my meat in white + vinegar water. Kills a lot of bacteria, problem solved. It's how I prepare food for myself too. When you give the cats raw meaty bones, they chew up the marrow which contains blood.

How does the prep and feeding timed for raw food work for folks who work long hours? How do you make that work?

I personally only need one 30 minute prep session a month. What I do is freeze each portion in a Ziploc bag, put the portions (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just really big breakfast really big dinner) for the following day in a bowl of water, put it in the fridge, and it will slow defrost overnight and be ready for tomorrow. You freeze the meat, it can last for months. So you can just take one day out of an entire month and make a whole bunch of food, and it will last a good long while.

Wanting to use Kangaroo meat with this raw recipe but use chicken thigh bones for the bone content. If the meat you are using doesn't come with bone, how may chicken thigh bones would you suggest to use with how much boneless meat of choice? A suggest would help greatly, ie x amount kilo/lbs boneless meat to x amount of chicken thigh bones. Thanks.

This is a good demonstration. It's not good to use pre-ground super market meat. However, I used to go to a butcher store. They would give me the first meat ground in the morning, so that could be an option.

Jasmine, my cat has kidney disease. I have read a tremendous amount about how cats can’t efficiently break down plant protein, fruits and vegetables, etc. Keeping the phosphorus low is nearly impossible. Can you help guide me what would be best? I want to keep her and my other cats on a high quality protein diet. Help!

Could you say add some squash or pumpkin, for the fiber that they would get in the wild by eatting bird feathers or mice fur? Cats are naturally attracted to pumpkins and squash so could it be a good addition?

Brandyn Therwanger Use psyllium husk instead. Low carb and helps them poop! Pretty sure it is not true that cats are attracted to pumpkins, they can’t taste sweet things...

@@alexandrac9536 I'm not entirely sure that cats can't taste sweet things... Mainly from my cat, and I'm not the greatest with her diet, and I'm not the financial caretaker, since I'm still a teen. But she will hunt down sweet things. She loves them more than meat, along with the occasional carbs. She's as bad as the dog in our family.

I plan on using egg shells for the calcium. But until I can collect enough for a batch,...if I rinse them immediately after breaking them open, how do you store them until you're ready to bake them in the oven? Wouldn't want bacteria to grow on them...

Ever since I fed my cat this he has had MAJOR bowel issues. Ever since he started eating this food I made for him with top products he has been having serious issues having diarrhea 3 or 4 times a day and now 1YEAR later I'm still trying to find a food that will fix that this recipe did to him. I am aware of that. That is a rule when even changing brands of regular dry food. I did at least 3 weeks worth of research before I did this. Short answer. Yes. It was slow.

Run it with a cup of water and 1/4 cup of baking sods and 1/4 cup of white vinegar and a drop or two of dish detergent. This helps kill bacteria and remove the scents.

They dont necessarily need supplements if you're providing them with all the nutrients they need. Meat does lose quality over time when frozen so a lot of the nutrients may be lost, this is one of the reasons we add supplements. There are other videos on youtube too with cat owners feeding a variety of different meats and skipping the supplements as a whole. maybe check those out too :)

If u dont blend the meat then it is okay to omit the supplements. I feed my cats a prey model raw diet and have not needed to add any supplements. They have been on raw since 7 weeks old. They are 3 yrs old now and are both in good health.

Hello! New to your channel! Great video thanks for posting. Do you have a recipe for hairball issues? And if you added flour could you bake it to make your dry food? My cat is more of a grazer than eat all in one sitting kind of girl. Thanks in advance, great channel! Also, how do you ask your store to grind up the meat for you? Is it done upon purchase or do you have to call in advance?

Claire Smith hi! You definitely wouldn't want to add flour.. the water content and moisture is a big part of the benefit :) though we will have a video coming up on how to make dehydrated treats out of raw food. And if i want the food ground, I just get everything i need, bring it up to the meat counter, and ask when i get there. Only because its easier to explain to whoever is working (if it's someone unfamiliar with you) and doesnt take very long. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! 😻

Abt 10 days ago or so, dropped out the dry completely and only good wet food. Most of my cats like the Primal freeze dried rawfood. I did crumble over their dry or just by itself too. I rehydrated once, but it.didn't come out right. With Raw food, as u stated here u can take the food at the supermarket to the butcher to grind up? There is a butcher in every supermarket

Another option would be to simmer the bones for hours to dissolve them into a paste. They wouldn't be raw, but bone mineral content is not altered by simmering.

Hello, I know its a month late but I'd like to try to answer. Well.. the answer is sadly no. All those Vitamins are important in the long run, especially if your cat is fully indoor because your food is all the intake that they have. A unpopular opinion from me is that I think market cat food is fine as long as we give them enough drink/mix with a bit of water with some treat/extra supplement from time to time. I've seen many cat owner in my community have healthy 15 year old indoor cats that only eat kibble like Whiskas and MeO and still fine. We, however agree that the said catfood price range is the minimum for healthy cats, there are many brand that sold for cheaper (about 1usd /kg) but also make a lot of health problem.

Adding all the vitamins gives your cat everything it needs for it to be healthy. But in the wild would they get these vitamins added? As long as u give them the organs and mix it all up, it’s still better than giving the packaged stuff from the supermarket.

....but you still used the grinder 😂 Good stuff though, I never thought of combining the nutrients in the egg yolks with water. I will definitely try that. Although I've never had to add many other supplements other than cranberry extract, apple cider vinegar, fish oil and occasionally lysine. There are natural foods like cooked carrots, green peas, sweet potato, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds that contain lots of vitamins. I look for things that have vitamins naturally occurring in them already. They synthesize better in the body than the artificial powders. The dark meats and hearts already contain taurine so I am still puzzled why I would need to add more. My cat is already a hulk as it is with bulging biceps and a broad chest.

Oh i just read in the other site that raw meat and egg is not good for the cat.now im confused but i will stick to the cooked plain chicken or turkey for sure any bacteria in the raw meat will die.thank you for sharing your ideas.now i am planing to boil chicken for my cat dinner and can food for breakfast.

My cat will not Eat raw! I'm upset that she is getting sick from the store bought. I learned not to put lots of food out. She will eat then throw up. Now I put a little ground up dry cat food.She stopped eating it as well. Am i the only one with the pickiest cat in the world? Lord i need help to get her transitioned to a meat diet. She's tiny and 6yo. She is a farrel cat. I found her with 2 brothers under my steps 6 years ago ,and she has never been back outside.1brother is running the neighborhood the other died😢 ( she will only eat Albacore tuna after the water has been expelled.) I found that cats should not eat tuna, but I grew up near the San Diego bay, thus seen many cats eat raw fish. Thanks for the video.

Same here. My cat is *extremely* picky and I really don't know what to do about transitioning her to raw food. I'm going to do it anyway and won't let her have her way. She's 4 years old and a little overweight, so I want her to be happy and healthy for as long as humanly possible.

Wow, a Vitamix will grind bones?! That's crazy. I guess i need to get a Vitamix! Thanks for all the info. The kitty I have now arrived end of January, right before finding out my dog had cancer, and I lost her a month later, which makes this guy kind of a blessing to have around. He was invading my friends house, where she already had a cat. I said I'd keep him til we found him a home, and he's still here. He would only eat Little Friskies dry. I finally got him on wet, and added small chunks of raw chicken. Now he'll eat raw that I buy from my local pet store, but he still won't eat it unless I add a little wet Fancy Feast Gravy style on top, and maybe some 9 Lives pate style. This guy is fussy, but I'm just glad he'll eat something other than dry. I appreciate your tips!

You have to convince your cat first. Because they are the one will consume ultimately. Remember cats are very picky. Especially indoors. my cat only like tyson livers not any other brand. If I offer other brand she will smell and walk out. She would rather stay hungry but not eat.

Hey! I’ve been wanting to switch my cats to a more natural diet. Raw food diet sounds great! But my cats are very picky and fixed on cooked food. Could I cook this mixture exactly as you make it about 50% and the other 50% be raw?

Start with a very tiny amount of the new food. Starting with 50% will probably turn them off. Gradually increase the new food and decrease the old food overtime.

I desperately need your help. Zeus my cat that owns me !!!! tends to lick all the liquid off the canned cat food and now he leaves the meat left on the plate I have been giving him a little bit of tuna and jiuce on the licked dry food to see if he will eat it and he will eat the tuna and the jiuce and left the rest on the plate he loves dry food but I would lie to find a gravey type resipe to ad to both the dry/ wet food is there any homemade type sauce that I can make to help Zeus eat his food I'm at my wits end at trying to find a way to get him to eat he was a ferral kitten to begin his life so I want to start to make raw for him but want to do it slowly to alow him to get used to it had another question are there any raw recipes for fish to be put into any of your raw recipes ? please help at my wits end want Zeus to be happy with what I have to feed him !!!!

My cat does the same. Have given up buying canned wet food for her and now feed her raw chunks. I also buy BARF for cats and mix that into the leftover canned food I still have. She is unable to separate them and it gets eaten. Hope this helps

mine does it to.. just get the gravys or let him just lick the gravy.. my cats are on the hefty side so they ain't missing no calories wit just eatting the gravy... i think the meat in the meaty chunks are just to thick and chewy so it's probably just nasty I've squeezed the gravy out of the cat food to before just cuz i know they like it and im a crazy cat lady so I live for them lol

No kibble ever, unless emergency. Organic homemade bone broth will help heal this. No store bought tetrapaks. Use a pipette if they will not drink it voluntarily. No grains. Canned food is part of the problem too. Yes, raw will help dramatically. There are a lot of hidden sugars and starches in commercial food. Your cat may have candida. I would use a probiotic also. Elisa Marro Buy some hydrogen peroxide 6% 20 vol, and in a small measuring cup from the pharmacy, measure out about 5 ml of hp & 5 ml water (equal parts). Grab a Q-tip and dip it in the solution and run it around the gums of your cat a few times. Do this 2 times a day. The hp will oxygenate the gums and kill all the bacteria festering under & around the gumline. This is great for humans too. Don't let your cat eat or drink for at least half an hour after the treatment.
