HOW TO MAKE 10 PLAIN SCONES. EASY TO FOLLOW STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS. Ingredients: 500g self raising flour 50g caster sugar 110g margarine (or soft butter but margarine works best) 300ml milk Music - 'Blue Danube' by Strauss
Finally the real way to make scones, I have watched 6 videos before I came to yours and you do them the way I was taught over 50 years ago. You can't beat the true old recipes. Thank you.
@@Zoe-dr5ps You sieve the dry ingredients mainly if you live in an area of high humidity where powdery stuff tends to clump. All that stuff about 'aerating' or promote 'better mixing' through sieving is just negligible and probably invented by wannabe online bakers to sound clever.
You get a better rise if you place the scones together so they're just touching, rather than with spaces in between (it forces them to rise UP rather than up and out, and it results in soft sides rather than a crust all over).
I’ve been using your recipe for a long time now, I don’t use ANY other and today it dawned on me I have never once said thankyou! My husband adores them ❤ so once again thanks, this is truly the BEST recipe xx
My partner and I are devotees of the cheese scone made with strong Cheddar. They are great for lunch, picnics and buffets. Just buttered or served with ham, sausage or anything you like. Love the video. Thank You.
Oh my! If all cooking demos were like this I would learn so much more. No clutter of unnecessary talk makes a difference to me at least. Thanks so much.
normally i forward a lot when watching a video, but this one was so fascinating that i just couldn't...probably because of the epic touch the music gives it. ^^ can't wait to try out the recipe! thanks for including the measurements in gramme and litres. :)
I just made a fresh batch of scones using this recipe and it turned out simply amazing. I used butter instead of margarine and all purpose flour with baking powder to improvise for the self-raising flour which I didn't have at home and it still came out Just perfect. Great job @ Kind Kyttocks. Thanks for sharing. Love from Nigeria❤️
Thank you so much for this recipe. We're my first scones ever and so delicious and easy. I just added some cranberries. They were so fluffy and not at all dry just perfect. Finally a video without long talking nonsense or women tugging at their hair in order to look good in the video.
I have searched for this recipe for ages and I'm glad I found it. I tried the recipe and found that not only did they turn out beautifully but they were delicious. Best scones ever!
I loved how it said 'Look out, your pastry brush!', combine that with the music and it was like watching a tense pre sound cinematic drama! It added a real sense of drama to proceedings. Great video!
I just made these they are absolutely gorgeous! (Added some raisin's to half the batch and fruit to the other) Beautifully simple recipe to follow :) thank you xx
Thank you for sharing this video. I kept watching it and then followed as per the instructions. My scones came out very well - light and fluffy. Thanks.
It works. Got up this morning thinking what to make for breakfast? Found this watched and followed exactly, came out top scone ever made. Kids lived it, wife munched it, I just want to thank you for sharing.
This was one of the best video tutorial I have ever seen. Your hands, the way you handle the dough, it was magical as well as beautiful. I can taste the goodness. The music was right on time.
This is ...actually, I can't find the right words, given that scones are my favorite cake and I love watching people cook or bake, whatever. Thank you!
I've now watched the whole video, this woman knows what she is doing when it comes to scones, trust me I've watched a LOT of scone videos and most are rubbish, however if I may be permitted to add this suggestion: add the egg to the milk then just save a bit for the brushing of the tops at the end, otherwise you are virtually wasting a whole egg
Margaret McLean yes..it's played on new year's eve and people dress up and waltz in the famous square in Vienna... awesome sight! If it's snowing it's even more so!
I made these scones today & they were AMAZING!! Absolutely loved it, light & fluffy just like in the video. You are such a master baker and I loved your tips & tricks. Thank you for sharing.
*Love* the music. It's like watching a silent movie - well done! One tip - you can use a coarse hand grater on cold butter which makes it really easy to blend with the flour and sugar.
Thanks for the motivation. Best scones I have ever baked. Made sure to measure accurately. Whizzed in quick time in the food processor using cutting blade. Very little handling on the board. No kneading as this can make it rock hard.
Thank you so much, on my 1st try mine turned out perfect. I used one regular butter stick which in the US is about 113 g. Just some advise for those having trouble, if you prefer regular flour just weigh out 500 g or 1 lb then add 2 1/2 tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt then you have self raising flour. if you are using frozen butter sticks like me just leave it near the stove to soften. lastly you can use regular sugar. Hope this helps someone out there. Again thank you "Learntobake".
Hi, I've just made a batch of these (with raisins in them) and they've turned out really well. I used a smaller cutter and got 17 out of it. Thanks a lot. Very tasty.
I have read the comments and do not think I can say it better. I loved it! I subscribed so as not to miss another great recipe. Thank you for making your video so easy to understand. I will be making these. I always thought it would be too difficult. You simplified it. Thank you!
i used your recipe for the first time i made scones. it was so easy to follow and my scones ended up really nice and tasty. gonna be using this recipe to make scones from now on. :)
Me and my children would make scones on the weekends it was just like that . Brilliant ... Bought back so many memories ....now they are all grown up and married and have there own children who make (nonnas scones ))) Nonna is grandmum in Italian .... thankyou ....
Simple and tasty!! Thank you for this recipe as i tend to lack baking powder coincidentally:) this recipe makes about 27 oreo sized scones, so for those who wanna make lesser, half the recipe
@MrLightPanda Try to get some spreadable butter - it's usually mixed with some buttermilk so it's softer. If you want to use just butter then make sure it is left out the fridge for a while so it is soft. You're problem is probably that the butter is too cold and so is not mixing well. Check you've got the weights correct too. Keep trying - i've been making scones every day for 25 years and they still go wrong sometimes!
My family and me have been using this recipe for a few years now and everyone loves it! I make the scones while my sister makes the sandwiches, my boyfriend brings homemade strawberry jam and makes tea, and mum relaxes outside in the sun.
I truly loved watching your scone recipe with soft good music so soothing to the ears and heart no going on and on talking I wish there were more people like u luv South Africa
