Oh my goodness… I did this recipe for dinner tonight. I did half yellow squash and half zucchini and I also added a deboned rotisserie chicken and ranch seasoning. Y’all… the look my husband gave me 😂 😊 so delicious
Love me some delicious squash casserole. My only difference is I sauteed mine, until I get some really good color and caramelization on both the onion and the squash. I also love some squash fritters, never met squash I didn't like.
I tried this a few nights ago and it was fabulous. It surprisingly tasted better with every bite. I didn't have sweet onion but I caramelized what I had and again, it was fantastic.
I made this recipe because of watching your video. I never had squash casserole before. I am now a fan! This recipe for squash casserole was delicious indeed!!! Thank you!!! It is worthy of being a side dish for Thanksgiving, just saying!
That's a great idea, I would just serve the Leftover Casserole with some pan fried Sausage, my Family is way to High Strung, we like to eat something that Pops into the Microwave for a minute and then they're off, I would think this would be awesome the next day...just make a whole casserole during the day, then have an EASY meal for Dinner, and then everybody has a great Breakfast for tomorrow. I do that with Quiche', bake the Quiche in the afternoon (using Leftovers from a day or two ago), then make a super easy family favorite Dinner or Order a Pizza, then everybody can have slice of Quiche' for breakfast for 2 minutes of Microwave Cooking in the morning. I like to leave the Quiche' on the counter as it's cooling as we're pulling off slices of Pizza...they all know what's good for breakfast tomorrow..
Yeah, Camera Boy, Nicole is naturally funny like the natural sweetness in the squash! LOL But seriously, have you done a video on cutting onions? I really wanted to see more closely how you chopped that onion... it looked lots easier than the way I chop one. Can I do that? (:
i am making this for our family get together for fathers day today .. and i want to know if i can use other squashes, such as georgia candy roaster or butternut squashes? and since i probably dont have enough time to wait for an answer lol i will be giving it a try anyway .. will let you know how it goes .. and thank you for this recipe
You should do a biscotti squash or usually do a acorn squash works out really good or he's a pumpkin use a lot of pumpkin we're still does the same but man it is good
Made this recipe tonight for dinner...excellent. I substituted the round butter crackers for the oval butter crackers and didn't apply the butter pats before cooking.
Seriously? Caramelizing onions while steaming squash at the same time, in the same pan using only water? Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen that way. You're going to have to caramelize the onions first if you want them caramelized at all. What I did to kick up the recipe a notch, was in the middle layer of the casserole, I made of layer of french fried onion rings to add some crunch and extra flavor. WOW.
Bless your heart, I don't know who told you that that was caramelized onions but sister they failed you. That is soggy AF, whoever showed you how to make squash casserole like this is clearly not from the South.
