Haha basically i need to stop saying basiclly 😂 Thanks for putting out so high quality tutorials. Really nice of you to share all this knowledge for free that you been speeding so much time on gathering ✌️
@@WorksopGimp indeed. I did get 2 requests from Universities in Belgrade to become a university teacher, and as well I do have a degree in audio and video technologies. Never thought that it was worth of mentioning, as my degree would not change anything.
Good video, to be honest I think it's beneficial to watch the original video first and then watch this. If you haven't watched the first one I highly recommend you still check it out .
I cannot belive I didn't found this channel before. I've always been struggling with making a good sounding bass, most of the time I was just lucky. Thank you for this wonderful breakdown. Pozdrav iz Slovenije :)
Just fantastic to see your progress in video editing and personal recording, it's very charming. The only issue now is with the CPU overload you are experiencing Perhaps a Windows configuration I recently stumbled upon might help u prevent the cracks. It allows me to process alot more VSTs without compromising. It's via Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings: Click "Change advanced power settings", go to tab "Processor power management" -> Minimum processor state: Change to 100% Other than that, simply amazing to see you go in such detail. It's truely of inmeasurable value. Hope to see you on stage soon and thank you personally :D Next Short Video?: "DA converters for psytrance production", I would love to learn more so I can invest my energy in the proper place
My system is f...cked, i’m in the middle of installing all on a new hard drive, but there is so much work around it! All plugins etc, all software, but all of that is not the problem, biggest problem is to find all emails with licences, and i have so so so many licenses to find :/
I really get what you are trying to say but i think maybe you are getting lost in translation here. Of course you can learn to EQ. Maybe you don't think you can teach it because of technical and physical limitations in the the students listening environments. But it's a skill like any other. Practice and you will get good. But you will be limited by your listening equipment and room (especially when it comes to the lower frequencies due to boundary effects). Its not like some people are born being great at Eqing. It's something you learn over time. Aside from that i really appreciate your videos ! Keep em coming :)
Yup, you said all right, just what I said, is that I cannot do anything to teach others how to eq, as you said already, it is not the knowledge, it is the practice. Those two I see as two different things. Some things can be learned, and some need to be trained by doing. You can learn musical theory and use patterns to create 1000 melodies a day. But to EQ good, you can’t just learn, you need to practice it to develop a skill! I hope you got me more precious now!
LOL the double filter thing is crazy because one of my favorite basslines i did back in 2017, I used 2 filters on it!! haha, and now you bring it up here, you sir are a legend. I will try this technique again.
Wramth is another word to describe the job that multiband prossessing does. Renaissance Bass what it does, i think adds a hole new harmonic content to the signal. Question. Doen't the bass notes overlapping each other from all that prossesing?
@E-Clip Music , Could you please explain the kick, sub bass, and mid bass happening in "viva la vida club mix, Jorn Van Deynhoven). Its sounds like a psy trance bass however, i feel like theres no major transient attack in any of the bass. Its very smooth, is this due to heavy limiting/noise reduction/compression). Thanks
thank you so much man ! big fan of your tutorials I understood everything except for the bluecat plugin. could you explain a little bit more in detail on how to route the bass and kick? keep those videos coming :) oh, and belive me, if you upgrade to 4k you will get so much more views
just perfect. But can i ask you two questions :)...? 1. you would like to have all the insert plugins in one rack. couldn't the problem be solved with the Blue Cats VST? 2. Would it be possible to replace the MSpectralD... with a Limiter? Btw... keep going your great work :)
@@EClipChannel Thank you very much for the quick replies. :) I produced music when I was young about 20 years ago. But just for fun and with zero knowledge. xD After a break of almost 15 years, I recently revived my hobby, but this time I would like to know more about the technical side. your videos are awesome. thanks for that.
@@EClipChannel Gaming aside, this is the best way to wind down after work. What's more, I haven't even invested half of what I spent 20 years ago. and I'm still better equipped. And then there are people like you who try so hard to teach us something. Thanks for that :)
fun thing is i know EXACTLY what you mean with plastic bass xD It sounds more digital and crisp, i always felt like ajja's basslines are plastic, and thats a good fkn thing!
Thank you very much for making these videos! About the DA converter- can you recommend 1 or 2? (max 3kEU) or maybe point in a direction to look and buy? Best regards
@@EClipChannel Hi there E-Clip, Thank you for this tutorial in the first place! After watching this one, I was wondering about converters and Summing aswell. Is there any chance there is any content / video about them in one of your masterclasses or RU-vid Channel atm? Thanks in advance & love your content!
@@soeplepelaar There is, just I am also not sure about the summing anymore, i am not sure is it worth of it as I have found some new information that made me thing twice. About good converters there is no doubt at all, but i will need a bit more time to research it and make a new vide with a new conclusions.
@@EClipChannel Thank you for the fast response! After going to your RU-vid channel i'm quiet confident I'll buy the masterclass aswell any time soon. I think this converters will solve an issue I've being struggling with for a long time. After hearing the difference between your sound on the non processed serum bassline, and mine ( with exact same vallues on all knobs in serum ), the difference is huge, if not insane. Looking forward to learn more about this in the near future. Thanks a lot man! regards, Stef
When you talk about ad/da converters do you just mean an audio interface? Also thank you so much for putting out this video. I just wanna say that obsession over kick and bass phase ruins my enjoyment a lot so I'm also gonna try just using my ears. Sounds so obvious to say but sometimes you loose track of the basics I guess.
An audio interface is made from several different things. Drivers and some software, AD converters, DA converters, MIC preamps, SPIDF, Adat protocol, Clocking system.... so Audio interface have the DA and AD converters, but that is just a small part of Audio Interface, while you can buy a Unit with AD or DA converter only. I have Apogee DA16X which is just 16 channels DA converters, and noting more. To use it, I have to connect them to my audio unit, which is RME Fireface 800. But just for comparison, FF800 cost me 1200€ with 8 outputs, 8 impute, mic preamps, Adat, Spidif, Clocking, TotalMix, Digicheck.... while Apogee DA16X cost me 2000€ for 16 outputs only, just to get a better picture when comparing Converters with Audio Units.
@@EClipChannel Interesting, I've got the RME UFX II. I've looked online and the consensus seems to be the opposite to what you're saying, i.e. that high-end interfaces will have good enough converters. Do you think you will be able to make a dedicated video on this topic at some point in future? I'd love to hear your in depth explanations on this topic.
@@dorsia6938 RME do have a good converters. Still, maybe the best from all Audio Interfaces in that price range. But if you digg a bit more, you will find also a better ones. Check the Apogee Symphony for example, and Symphony is just one class above. Check Crane Song, Burl, Antilope, Prism Audio...
You can choose whose advice you will follow, but go for a converter! They will move you forward. Before you upgrade, do a proper research on what you will update and what is the best way to spend your money.
Hello e clip I dont know if i get it right You always speak about how you want the phase to start exactly at the click in the sérum wavetable. Ok so far i get it, but later when you speak about the fabfilter Saturn and so on to get a better phase position i dont get it anymore. Does it change all the frequency in general but the phase stays at the click? Or does it change the position of the phase? Or does it change the frequencys how they relate to eachother individual?
I know, it is super complicated and impossible to put in 1 video. As the first thing you mention is not the same as the second. The phase in synthesis is a bit different from adjusting the phase later on.
Really nice videos! I think those are the most useful ones on RU-vid! I was looking for ages to find something about the common processing steps. Even if don't work with Serum its really interesting and helpful! Thanks for that.
Thank you for your inputs! Very helpful! Can you explain to me why, when I apply the same low-cut in Equilibrium, I do not get more low-end, instead I get less, like it supposed to be. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance :D
You don’t do anything wrong. A search for a good-sounding bassline is endless, and you are not alone. To make everything properly, especially for the bassline, requires a lot of knowledge, training, great speakers, acoustic treatment, etc. You just need to be patient and work more until you reach the point you wanted. When it comes to deciding when and how much and what EQ you should use, I can’t help you much, as it all depends on your listening (room, speakers, converters) as we all make decisions from a result that all those 3 things give us. So all the problems might not be about you, it might be because of all those 3 things as well.
@@EClipChannel thank you. I came to the conclusion, that I really need to update my speakers, soundcard etc. as I am working on self-made speakers atm, which are really good for listening, but not for producing :)
A good friend of mine told me for years that analog summing is the game changer. Talking me into buying AD/DA converters and neve mixer. So, should i invest? Regarding the bass eq, i find that the 3000hz area is painful a lot of the times when having a pluck bassline with a very punchy transient.
@@jonathanmorgan23 when it comes to 3khz, and the pluck there, i just love how it sound on Focals Sm9 , i used to bosst 1khz area before them, now i moved transient a bit higher on 3khz, and to me it just sounds amazing. On 1khz is a bit more heavy and longer, while on 3khz just suits me prety well.
Hey Marko! I find sometimes my Bass sounds like its being detuned a little when I use PHA-979 to shift the phase to fit with the kick drum. Do you find this as well and do you have any tips to avoid this?
Summing mixer does’t sound much, just when you mumix trough it, you do it better, as all sounds summing is better. You get better transients, more wide picture....
wouldn`t the use of an lfo to modulate the cutoff make the second filter obsolete? use the first half of the curve ofr the transient modulation, the second half for the body development. would save you the use of the second filter, which also introduces first phase issues, i found. i didn´t try your way yet, but thats the first thing that comes to mind
okay, i worked on it some more.... im sorry, i am still trying to make heads and tails of the clean bassline creation process. so yes, the internal filter in serum affects the phase, but since one would bounce/render it anyways, this is not so much of a problem i guess. anyways, thanks forall the awesome tutorials!@@EClipChannel
@@Gorgo-22056you canno’t avoid phase shifting, as filters are high cut eq bands, and there’s no VSTi woth linear phase filers to my knowledge. Even if they existed, they will cause pre-ringing.
You can simply copy what I did in the video. Some things you will just jeed to do yourself. I have provided everything you should do, you only need to do it.
@@EClipChannel thank you for your response,, yes that's right but I'm already stuck with the waveform that belongs to me it's upside down to yours I've tried everything I know what I can do I can't get that sorted out
@@EClipChannel sorry I added a link, but it seems that RU-vid deleted it, Numayama on beatport, has a track called "Earth Needs a Rebirth" from his last album, the selected sample on beatport let you listen the pitch bass I'm talking about, very used by artists like Astrix for example in his track "Deep Jungle Walk", it would be nice to see a tutorial for that kind of bass...
@@EClipChannel I saw that tutorial just now, but the truth with all respect is that it sounds very far from the classic "Astrix" pitch bass, you could probably ask your colleague Flegma how he works it this kind of bass? since in his album "Second Nature" in most of the tracks he uses the kind of Bass that would be nice to see the making.
@@MrDobleagent i do not find your request fair at all. You don’t like thebresults i have to offer, so you want me to do more job instead of you? Is there anything elase I shoukd do for you? 🙂
Plastic bass = Elastic bass, in my opinion it almost feels like rubber when you're listening to it. it also tends to bend smoother when bouncing up and down the scale in the form of a melodic bass groove.
Yes, rubber is also a word that would explaine it, just maybe plastic is a bit close in my oppinion as it is a bit more harder than rubber. But i really like this explanation term as well. I might use it next time plastic/rubber! :) thanks
is there a synth that has tunble adsr in ms and nicer filters than serum ? ::DD to type in values in adsr realy changed my basses i dont want to miss it
@@EClipChannel jea i learned that from u . The pickable ms makes it so much better that sylenth or maybe trilian for me . I will try out the synth u wrote. Very interesting. Keep up the good content ;)
What are other equivalents to m transient MB? I checked the price and it's around 80 which seems like a too expensive price for a plugin that I have never tried plus I will use in only this one thing. I have FL Studio and Ozone suite, does anyone know if they contain a transient shaper that works the same?
Hey brate! Awesome stuff as always! So often I have exactly the same problem, Click vs body.. i like the body of the bass to have 'warmth' but not too much zing and one filter is very often not working for both.. A synth I really love for thick, meaty basses is FabFilter Twin2. High quality sound. Needs a little more control for the phase of the oscillators, but you have as many envelopes as you like. 2filters with good choices.. Looking at Timeless3, can't wIt to see what will happen in Twin3.. Hvala!!
@@EClipChannel Also 1 more question - what plugin should I use to keep my bass level equal? Sometimes when I hit some lower or higher notes my bass volume goes higher than other notes.
My basic mini wave table doesn't seem to look like yours, Mine looks live the same shape but inverted.. ill just have to find something that resembles yours
Yeah I tried that before commenting but I still couldn't get it to look right unfortunately. I end up with a smaller looking version. The wavetable looks like it needs to be amplified or normalised. I'll experiment.
not talking about switching them all, but a group of them. Only specific group, for that it would be friendly to be able to insert a "rack" plugin that would be able to load a few plugs and then switch only that particular group. There is a button for switching them all already
@@EClipChannel @E-Clip I'm sorry, I misunderstood, after watching the video again I understand what you mean. My work around is to LOAD EFFECT CHAINS ON "GROUP TRACKS", these can be thought of as RACKS, then I can casscade the groups by INSERTING them in to each other.., This way i can load RACKS plug them in to each other any way I want.
@@mode1317 what I think is missing is one plugin that would take one slot, and that rack plugin can load a few plugins. If you are familiar with CMD+G or CTRL+G on ABleton, when you can group a few plugins into one group, then you can turn that group ON/OFF, change it;s position in the chain or save the group. For example, there are some plugins that do not have the gain knob, so sometimes we need to add additional plugin for gain staging to match the levels of before and after, so that 2 plugins can be switched as 1, for A/B testing. In cubase, we can switch off the whole chain, but you cannot switch off only few plugins in a same time.
@@EClipChannel Hi E-Clip ,Yes,, This is not possible in cubase, as I mentioned above there are work arounds, but nothing as elegant as ableton. If I find an elegent way I will get back to you. Have a great day!
Yup, but i cant bypas group of several plugins, let’s say i have 4 for sound desing and several for mixing section, and in some cases it would be nice if i could bypas only the plugins I used for mix. Trust me, there aren’t many options in Cubase that I don’t know of!
@@EClipChannel ok yeah that´s right :( Wasn´t there invented the audio rack for stuff like this in cubase a year ago or so? I´m not sure cause i switched to ableton, but i read about it
that´s sad. Maybe you can setup a midiroute to an external controler and map one chain's bypass to one button and the other chanin#s bypass to the other button
@@jomorken4853 phase in Synthesis is a position where the waveform start! In other words waveform start position. If it’s anywhere else besides zero point, it will start from positive point which will cause the click.
