In this video I will try to show you how I make a tall cylinder pottery vase.
This involves a few techniques.
Firstly to center a large ball of clay it helps to cone the clay up and down.
Then using a heel lift to get the thick clay up a little.
Then to finish a couple of knuckle lifts to gain some height .
I hope you enjoyed the video and please like and subscribe for more .
Thank You.

Dan, I love your big pots, you make it look so damn easy, impressive. Can you please tell me what clay you are using ? Does it have a lot of grog in it ? It must be quite dry as you were adding a fair bit of water during the process - Alasdair

Nice height was it about 15 tall to 18 tall? Your videos are unique with your rickety wheel. (It’s a good thing).

Thanks for showing us some of your throwing technique. Are your fingers slightly above the knuckle inside the pot when you throw. Love to watch you, I'm curious how long you have been turning and did your dad teach you, and does your mum turn. Thanks for all.

Hi my fingers are slightly above the knuckle but I actually have them side on as opposed to using the fingertips I suppose a bit like a kind of rib on the inside.

How did u get it perfectly centered from one cone? I cone 3-4 even 5 times, try to force it into center so hard with my left hand and it's still not centered so eventually it wobbles and the walls are uneven
