I haven’t had Pholourie in years, so I decided to try this recipe and…. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It turned out beautiful. The “onlyest” ting I was missing was the greasy oil soaked little brown paper bag. 💕🇹🇹
I am Jamaican and I love all things Trinidadian. Since I’m good at baking and cooking. I’m sure I can make this. I make fritters all the time. Thank you.
I usually make it the exact same way but with coconut flour and a little honey for the yeast to feed off of. The taste is amazing! 😋😋 Great job, Jason and Kizzie! 👍🏽
I didn't know that, its great to know the history of food. A lot of the time bangla dishes are thrown in with Indian food and no one knows bangla cuisine.
Pholurie is also cooked in Bihar state of India and it is very popular. As per my knowledge most of the Trinidadians of Indian descent are of Bhojpuri speaking Bihari origin. But I admit your Trinidadian polourie is much tastier than Bihari pholourie ( I cooked it in Trinidadian way), and it has developed its own identity , as Trinidadians themselves.
Awesome recipe...I've tried numerous ones but this hit the pholorie out d park! Highly recommend people try this version!👍🥰 Next time I have to double up the batch 🤭
The irony. Two days ago I tried to make pholourie on my own and failed. Today, this video is released with detailed instructions. Now, I hadda do it again! Lol!
Hey, guys, great video as usual. Just one question, though --- you mentioned around the 6:28 minute mark (and a couple time prior to that) that we should let the dough sit for about 45 mins. But in the 'Method' instructions embedded under the video, in #6, you mention letting the dough sit for 1.5 hours (90 mins). I'm a novice when it comes to 'cooking' (lol), but I do pretty okay with instructions. Can you clarify how long the dough should sit before we start to cook the Pholourie? Thanks in advance. Anyway, your feedback on this will be greatly appreciated. Love your vids!!
Oh my Gosh Chef, you made that hand technique look sooooooooooo easy!!!!!!!!! I'm definitely going to try this now because seeing you do it has given me that extra push of confidence. Thank you both. Kiz, we on the same page...... grab the bowl and the tamarind sauce and run!!!!!!!
know cilantro can be used as a substitute when you can't get chadon/culantro but I've never heard of using dill 🤔 then again I never had fresh dill. Will need to keep this in mind!
Hi guys! I love your videos, keep up the good work. I made this for my husband and he loved it, of course his from Trinidad. He thought I bought it from a Trini restaurant 😂😂😂😂 he couldn’t believe I made it for him....thanks!!!!
I love you guys so much, everytime I'm unsure about a dish I always use you guys as a reference! Love the stale jokes from chef Jason and the sarcasm from Kez ❤🖤🤍 #MyFoodieAirFryer #MyFoodieAirFryer#MyFoodieAirFryer #MyFoodieAirFryer #MyFoodieAirFryer #MyFoodieAirFryer
Love the hand movements necessary to make round pholouries! 😄 It's an art form. Chef Jason, I see that the pholouries swelled, but I was wondering how it did without a little sugar for the yeast to feed off of...
Or you can make your own.. just wash and dry your yellow split Peas, roast slightly in an iron pot, and then when fully parched.. not too brown eh..take it out of the pot and let it cool, then blend..and wala..you have your powder
Hello from Bermuda 🇧🇲. I love your videos, they are easy to follow, I like the step by step instructions. You both are funny and work so well together.
Great video as usual guys. I'm here in England and loving learning Trinibago cooking. I need to make Green seasoning but Shado beni hard to get here in the UK. I'm going to try and grow my own Culantro. Sorry to correct you, but Jamaican Fritters are called stamp and go. Festival are Jamaican fried dumplings :)
Awesome recipe. my obsessive compulsive nature is acting up because she didn't empty all the turmeric into the bowl. you can tel it made a difference because the pholourie would have been deeper yellow. I enjoyed and appreciated this session.
Can l please ask in this recipe, when u say 2 cups of flour what do you mean? plain or self raising ?🤔 Also what is All purpose flour ? Plain or self raising flour?
My bf leaves PoS every Friday in the hope of getting pholourie from his friend in Tunapuna. And everytime as he reach the last batch sold out 😂. I'll try this recipe this weekend and surprise him...🇹🇹
Thank you Guys sooooooooooo much for this simple and easy recipe, for some reason I was never successful in making pholourie, but I followed your recipe and got it perfect!!!!!
