I'm curious as to how many hours this took. It looks like such a fun project. I wonder if my husband will mind me taking over the living room floor lol.
I took your project as a role model and luckily found this Melissa & Doug Dollhouse on german market place (I am from Germany) for 45 Euros. Now I want to paint it in ivory. Then make it weatherproof. It will become a bee hotel on a vintage nightstand with plantet drawers. I am so excited about this project. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
This dollhouse is very cute! I am going to be starting one now (in much worse shape) but beyond excited to see the transformation! Thank you for sharing!
Bethany this is SO inspiring. I did a fun dollhouse project for my daughter in December of 2020 and I keep thinking about it. You're making me want to do another project. Every detail is perfect, and I can't believe what good condition that house was in when you bought it. Gotta love Marketplace!
This turned out so cute! I had an old Fisher Price doll house that was pink and blue that I was going to throw away a while back. It was October and I got the idea to spray paint it black and turn it into a haunted house. It turned out so cute. I found some little skeletons at the dollar store that were the perfect size and added some popsicle sticks with the ends cut off. I wrote be ware on them and boarded up the windows. Used Spanish moss in it. My daughter lived in a addition so I took it to her house for porch decorations. 😊
Been wanting to remodel a dollhouse for awhile, stumbled across this same dollhouse from a second hand website and immediately bought it. Thank you for the inspiration :)
(2023) I am looking at videos to see how others strip the paint off a doll house. I kind of "bumped" into your video. So, I sat down and started watching it. Your doll house turned out beautifully. I love the wooden shutters. The little pillows and blankets are too cute! And the fire place. Wow! You did a great job! Was the entire house and furniture made of wood? Do you still have this doll house? You and your daughter will have soo much fun playing with this house. Thanks again. I enjoyed this video.
So so cute! I just found a dollhouse at a yard sale and was looking for how to redo it for my granddaughters. Your redo was amazing and I love that you kept it simple! It’s really really cute!
Beautiful House. I love that it is a Melissa & Doug house you rebuilt for a new look... and so kid friendly too... The battery operated lights are fabulous. So no wiring is needed? That process has always just stopped me in my tracks...So where can I buy these lights? And do they just glue or nail onto the ceilings? They are amazing.
But, what type of spray paint? I know how to paint but I don’t know what type goes onto what surface AND I want to make sure it will last and be durable
Is using that spray paint safe for children ? My toddler still currently puts toys in her mouth and I’m scared that it will have a strong smell and be toxic for her. Is there any other paint options you can recommend ?
I enjoyed a pink and purple dollhouse, I’m so used to seeing normal houses with bland colors everyday. To me, as a little girl- I loved fantasy and pink. I thank toy makers/toy companies for making my childhood colorful!
They make them for kids, kids likes colours. Adults like beige, white and black. Now if you give it to a kid, likely they will be ok with it ,even happy actually, because they got a huge toy, but they prefer coulours.
I would use some texture for roof or some more colours, like blue shutters or sth, because it's a little too dark for me, but still - very pretty. I just don't like only black/gray/white colours.
Excellent job! I've finally managed to unscrew all pieces of a 70s dolls house but its still all stuck together by glue. Would you still disassemble or shall I do refurb as it is to avoid breaking it? Its wooden ❤
i’m also planning to do a dollhouse makeover with a dollhouse someone wanted to throw away! i’m wondering if it’s okay to use regular acrylic paint to paint it? i’m not sure if it messes with the wood in any way, but i can’t afford to buy paint that is particularly for wood
I have a 5ft antique dollhouse I bought for $100.00 in a thrift shop, it’s sitting in my storage unit because I’m hoping I can restore it, but I have not a clue on the proper paint to use, or if I need a seal for the paint, it’s Victorian and beautiful. Can anyone tell me the proper paint to use. Thanks
This is not a how to. There is no information on how or why the wood is on there, no information on materials, just a bunch of different cuts of you painting and assembling. Non informative
