How to manage debris in Nigel the 1977 MGB Fresh Air vent (Tom's Knob tblshooting) 

Great video. Last summer had a similar pile of dirt from Tom’s knob under my car. I crawled underneath and used a long screwdriver to get it all out. Decades of dirt and debris. Felt good to clean it.

Another outstanding video and presentation. Great progress on your MGB. A solution to unclog the vent drain tube is to very carefully insert a very long 9" to 12" length round tube/pipe nylon brush set (Harbor Freight sells a inexpensive 9 piece set) into the slit opening from below. use it like rotter rooter drain cleaner while having a garden hose trickling water from up above.

After wiggling off the push clips and lifting the grille, I found a rusted spark plug resting on the vent shelf. Estimated age at least twenty years.

great solution thanks for showing the video . I have a severe rust problem at the bottom of the airbox over the footwells so I'm thinking of a different solution. i'm looking at how I can close off the air box vent at the top and seal it against any water intrusion. Then i am going to look at how I can get fresh air into the heater box using an under bonnet solution like a pipe from a vent behind the front radiator grille

Use a vacuum cleaner to clear, added a piece of screen in the bottom of the well to keep stuff out of drain hole.

Another very helpful video Alex. I have a 78' and thought about cleaning mine and adding screen but with the speed nuts I'm guessing the chrome cover is a onetime use. Could you "unscrew" the speed nut at all? Could they be cutoff with a dremel? From your video it doesn't look like there's any access into that space. Great job as always.

Moss has little plastic holders than push into the grill holes, so you can push it in .

Alex can the speed nuts be undone by reaching in from the outside of the grill?

My grill will absolutely not budge to take it off - any tims for removing it?
