Over the course of the time Chromebooks have been available, they have become very adept at window management. From a useful overview mode to virtual desks to easy window snapping, Chrome OS has quite a few tricks up its sleeve to help you be productive with more than one window at once. Split-screen features have become numerous over that same time, and Chromebooks now have a wide variety of options for seating things side by side. i've got the 713 too, with 8gb RAM. Use the LinuxBeta VM, download linux apps, and learn to back-up/restore the linux VM. it's GREAT!

Ditto Scotty. Great info. I've been a Chromebook user about 90% of the time for over threw years - I have three and have not seen info like this on RU-vid. I only use Windows because of proprietary software that won't run on anything but Windows.

Hi, about that split-screen mode, is it limited to two windows? I am looking for a way to connect a large touchscreen monitor and have up to 8 windows open at once in a 4X2 pattern. Would it be possible with a Chromebook? If not, do you know how to achieve this? Thanks for all the great videos.

Not sure how you were jumping back and forth to/from the overview mode at the beginning. We couldn’t see your fingers to see what input you were giving the Pixelbook, and we couldn’t see the cursor because the screen is too far away

When you split screen, and want to drag that center line to modify scaled size, you don't have to hover your mouse over the arrow icons that appear, just click and drag from anywhere on that shared border... Provided it was the docked split screen orientation.

I recently purchased a Dell chromebook laptop ceneron and I have been trying to take two different documents in my files (example: my bible and a bible commentary and have them side by side to read and I can't get them to open individually so I can split screen them to read them. Is there anything I can do.. Would appreciate your help in this matter. The other thing is I've been using my laptop with my phone because I can't get WiFi in the building where I live because the office says that the internet is to slow and they need to get another service and haven't done it yet.

How do you get the screens to minimize into the little boxes on the overview mode?? When I minimize my screens I have to click on the line on the upper right but my screens go to the tray.

Why does the Laptop Mode in Chrome Browser look so different on your device? On my Lenovo Duet I have to swipe down to see my tabs, and I have a big Tab preview there. Is this because screen size? Grabbing one Tab in Tablet Mode and dragging it to the other side, as well as swiping down from the top to trigger overview mode also don't work.

So honestly, I think i may have disabled something in my chrome years ago that doesn't allow me to hold a tab, drag it to one side and make it fit one side of the screen. The same goes for dragging the tab up and making it fullscreen. Would you happen to know how to fix this because I have been searching and I just do not know what to look up to find this solution. I would really appreciate the help!

If you use split screen a chrome window with any search in google.com does it automatically fit in half of the screen for you? (I mean without the horizontal scrollbar) Another webpages usually fit in split screen but not a search in google.com, so I have to constantly scroll right and left when doing a search in google. Do you know why this happens? is it only me?

Currently watching it on my lenovo chromebook c340. I hope on the year 2021 chromebooks will received some notification updates that will enable us to me reminded if the battery needs to be charge when we are busy doing such as watching movies.

When the battery drops to a certain level on my Acer chromebook a notification appears on the bottom right of the screen. This happens whether I'm on a webpage or watching a movie or whatever. Not sure if this is something that must be enabled though.

It just depends on the model of chromebook that you have. We have one we got 2 years ago with a touchscreen and one we got 1 year ago that doesn't have one.

You have 2 split screen windows. How to make them behave as one full-screen window. I.e. need the right window to pop up into position automatically whenever the left window is activated, and/or vice versa.

Hey Robby. I work with split screen a lot, but one thing really bugs me. Say I have youtube in half my screen, then I Full screen the video, as soon as I exit Full screen, the window jumps to some other part of my screen. Any tips?

Most of the first two minutes of actions have absolutely no effect on my Acer CB515. The windows/tabs _can_ be moved to the side, but they do _not_ resize, so half the window is off the screen and not visible.

Does it make a difference if you drag them until the cursor/dragging point hits the edge of the screen? I think hitting the edge might be what activates the docking mode for the window.

win 10 has worked like this for years and it's nice to see it implemented so well on Chromebooks. Apple's split screen is garbage town on iPad OS. They should take some pointers from MS and Google.

Slow down! For newbies like me, your pace is ludicrous. Here you open at speed saying, "Grab this, do that, and hey! look how clever I am." Show, in seconds, how you 'grab', 'what', and I wouldn't have to stop the damned video every second or so. Apart from that . . . well done. I respect your knowledge. Just remember, you know it's drop dead easy, but you are talking too often to those who already have good chromebook skills.

TMI. Dazzling; I'm dazzled by the proficiency, as well as the fine voice and presence. But I learn one thing. More than usual from similar instructions. Instructors are keen to perform and dazzle with all their knowledge. Teach? Not so much. (Often, not at all.) Simplify, please.
