Does wax on the tape help with the modern way? Also you dont seem to be using much speed when pulling the puck back with the tip---you make it look really easy, that the blade will just slide under the puck when you pull it back---I work on this over and over again and probably am only able to make it work 3 out of 12 times...help.
I don’t think wax matters for the modern way. I think it’s the angle of the blade when you scoop it - finding that perfect ramp for the puck to just slide on. Keep practicing it. I don’t get it everytime either. But once you do it enough times, it starts becoming automatic.
I can see why it’s difficult because the roller hockey rink is such a smooth material plus the puck. I don’t think I’ve seen many roller hockey players do the Michigan. Not the modern way at least
