New fan here Andy! I’m a Microsoft 365 guy and started my own MSP business centred around it, loving the content. Just watched your 7 tech tips and the groups deep dive vids. Think I’m going to watch all of your vids over the last few months now!!
This vid might be a year old but it really helped me on a tenant split scenario (csp support actually gave me this video's link). Thanks for your help :p
Thank you Andi for another wonderful knowledge share. Indeed its a very helpful informative video for us. Can you please give us a demo, on how to migrate multiple user accounts from Box to M365.
Thank you for your video does this work or what do you recommend to have business users copy/move their OneDrive files from 1 business organization to another?
Hi Andy, i'm new subcriber and fan. I am watching your tutorials which is very helpful as i learn so many things i 'm working in an IT firm and will have to migrate network local file on premises to sharepoint online. I would like to have your advice how to proceed. what is the best way to provide them permission to access their respective sharepoint file. I have seen that we can use teams group or security group...but not sure which is the propr way
@@AndyMaloneMVP Thank you. I will stick to the office365 tools. Another question: Once i move the different folder which is like network file on local server to sharepoint online, let says by department : HeadOffice, Adminsitration, Accountant... Do i create seperate sharepoint site for each department and assign them to sharepoint group built in with their respective assigned permission or do i create teams security group to assigned permission
@@ashikdindoyal2475 to be honest in terms of structuring I don’t really want to advise you. As you will probably know your business far better than I will. But structuring by department, our location is very useful. In terms of different SharePoint sites. Take a look at Microsoft 365 groups, when you converted to become a team it creates channels, which in turn also creates subsites in SharePoint. This can be a very modern way of structuring your organisation as well as SharePoint data. Either way, I wish you the very best of luck.
Hello Andy, Learned a lot from your videos. For a client I developed some sharepoint sites in my developer environment. Can I move these sites fromt my developer environment to the customer sharepoint environment? Hope to hear from you.
Yes, you can use mover to move SharePoint cloud environments. However if your dev environment is on a Windows SharePoint server, then you will need to use the SharePoint migration tool which is available from the migration tab in SharePoint online. I hope this helps and thanks for reaching out and good luck.
HI Andy - we watched your tutorial video on Microsoft Mover and our company needs a solution thaqt moves file data from SharePoint to Azure Blobs, does MS Mover do this?
Gosh, i’m afraid. I’m not that geeky. I would check out the support pages from a more accurate answer on this. You could also check out the Microsoft tech community. Thanks for the question now, all the best.
What happens to permissions moving files from an on-prem file server? For example a department folder would have a group of users with permissions to access set up in local AD. A Userdoc folder might have a personal file with that user having permissions only.
Hi Andy, is it possible to use Mover to move SharePoint Online data from one tenant to another? Looking for Microsoft options for this this as I can't use 3rd party apps like Quest. Thanks
All metadata is transferred, not changed other than date accessed etc ? Created date accurate? What about exif ? The columns for meta need be created prior to transfer? How about preview and search? I have uploaded files from an external hard drive and from a CDR both lost meta. Thank you
Hi what about deltas? Lets say we did a initial transfer of data and then 5 days later we did the cutover and ran the same task what happens to files already there? Is it intelligent enough to only move the deltas??
To be honest I recorded this video sometime ago, as a migration tool is designed to do just that my great. One is complete you are then supposed to switch across to the new system. It is not, as far as I know designed to use deltas.
Hello Mr.Andy! Things have gotten nowhere and I'm here trying to get a hold of the specifics. In a nutshell, If you leave a family subscription for which you ain't an organizer, what would happen to the data in onedrive (the data is a lot so downloading and uploading it anywhere is just not the way)? Moreover, I want to change the primary alias as that Gmail isn't functional anymore.
Family! Too be honest I don 't know. I only work with the business editions of Microsoft 365. But to use the Mover tool you would need access to both the incoming and outgoing Onedrive accounts. The family edition will probably have very limited admin tools.
@@iunderstand118 Yes you can but! You will probably find it incredibly slow to move very large volumes of data across. Microsoft however, do provide a service where you can ship drives to them directly and an engineer will upload the data for you. Of course this carries a fee, details of which can be found on the Microsoft website. I’m sorry I didn’t have better news for you. Thanks for your questions though.
How does it work if I as the internal IT guy needs to move other users data for them? Is there a way for me to do it without getting their personal password?
@@AndyMaloneMVP Hmm, I have tried but it wont allow I get. "You selected 'Office 365 (OneDrive/SharePoint Admin)' as both the source and destination. You may not create transfers between the same connector. Please select a different Destination or Source. If you actually intended to do this copy, please use your storage provider (Office365) tools."
Want to move files from one library to another library with metadata in SharePoint online site.(same site) Please help me if it's possible to move through Power automate flow\mover
To be honest that is quite a specific request. I’m not sure the move would be the product here. Have you looked share gate? This is definitely the application of choice that I would use for this.
