Excellent video. Very interesting. i got a few questions, if you don't mind: What is your weight setup for your J2K, if not stock? Would you add weight to a Mach 2 Forza 16mm? If so, which setup? Same as J3K Pro? What weight setup do you use for the Mark 01?
I add weight to every single paddle I use unless it has a swingweight over 122, which is a paddle I would probably not use as a main just for personal preference. If you can handle higher swingweight you’re paddle is going to benefit from adding weight it if you do it primarily in stability and plow through. The more your paddle weighs the more stable and larger the sweet spot feels (to a certain degree) at the sacrifice of a slower paddle. My minimum set up for most paddles is 3g on each side at 4/8 o’clock. I actually go just below the corners so I don’t raise the SW as much.
I think it’s great Justin let you try hosting the pod on your own. He is definitely trying to build up the trust with his tournament partner and maybe your confidence as well. 😘
Great review with a lot of great info highlighting the pros and cons (minor cons) for your list of the best paddles of 2024. For the Mark One, can you give your preferred tungsten tape setup (amount and placement)? I have the 1 gram per inch tungsten tape.
I like that you name dropped the Proline Energy S. Sometimes these “best paddle lists” come off as “what have I played with lately lists”. EDIT: it’s the best of 2024 so I feel silly but I’m leaving my comment up.
Re: lead/tungsten tape, I noticed that many people are now adding weighted tape below the 4 and 8 o'clock positions like you do on your J3K Pro. (I start at 4 & 8 o'clock and go straight up the edges.) Can you tell me what adding tape below 4 & 8 o'clock does in terms of paddle behavior and performance? Thanks!
@@sojiromifune primarily to increase the overall weight of the paddle which slightly increases the TW, shifting the balance point lower, and making the paddle weight more which makes it overall more stable
Great pod as always! Lots of good information in this episode Is there a good way to contact you? I’d love to ask you some RU-vid questions and get your opinions on things if you’re open to it
I have the J7k Pro and the Hurachi 16mm Kevlar. Both very different but I do like the massive amount of control on the Hurachi. That being said I do miss some of the power and pop on the J7k but dont miss the hitting balls out due to the pop. Would you say the J2k has similar...more or less control? Im assuming the J2k has more power and pop than the Hurachi. Going to 3 Grams of lead to 3 and 9 o'clock to see if it gsins a little more power.
Adding Weight usually doesn’t have much impact on pop if anything it decreases it ever so slightly. Adding weight will increase power slightly but nothing that’s game changing
