The new Gundam Card Game card game was recently revealed and I thought I would make a quick how to play instead of having to watch the 40 minute official video they put out!
@@RvLeshrac Disagree, I'm not a fan of these crossover games with a bunch of disparate IPs. A super robot war type game with all their mech shows would be interesting, but I don't want to play a game with Gundam+OP+DB+Digimon+LoveLive when I only care about Gundam
@@TheGreatPewpyOne honestly based, for that much effort you should start with a resource token that gets removed from the game when used (for going second) I don’t even go that far, the most I do is sand and clip when working on HGs or higher
Who can mass produce the big zam for a win condition? 2:20 or Ryu Jose jumping onto white base 😂 aaahhh!!! Missed opportunities I hope an expansion does memes one day.
Very solid video! Look forward to more in the future if you decide to cover it more 🙏Also, you can find more detailed rules on the main website if you haven't seen them already!
Oh sweet. I’m excited for this. Been struggling to find a TCG to collect/play. Even if I don’t play, I will definitely collect, since Gundam is my top three favorite anime franchises.
as a digimon player i liked it, dont really know a lot about gundam but its the first time a bandai game catches my eye since i started playing digimon 2 years ago
Small but Important note: there’s another action step timing at end phase. That said, this was a very good introduction despite how little we have! I’m pretty excited for this game and it seems a lot of people are as well given how many want to playtest it already
Great video man. I’m glad you condensed the known rules. I’m looking forward to playing this with you. It’s also kinda messed up that the premium Bandai stuff will be sold at Bandai fest in Florida that is an invite only event. A scalpers dream.
Oh, so it's Duel Masters... I mean, it's more complicated, but a lot of it is Duel Masters. I'm old, I remember playing Duel Masters. Yeah, this seems like it'll be pretty fun. ^_^
I really hope this one sticks for a while. It's even got the opportunity to have it's own Universes Beyond with other Bandai mecha series. I would commit several War Crimes to have a Gear Fighter Dendoh deck.
As someone who loves Gundam, would have been cool for the design philosophy to put the Gundams themselves as the absolute boss monster with more "cheaper" or less rare mobile suits are used to a more frequent degree. All good though, still looks fun.
I agree. Maybe have the Gundam a leader and you play smaller cards to back them up. Sort of like your favourite Gundam pilot rushing into the series finale epic battle first while the others catch up from thr ship. Though i suspect they just want to make sure they can sell many gundam cards for collectors
@@braydenb1581 I'm glad you're onboard, I do get your point of the corporate money making aspect. In my idea I'd imagine they'd print scarce amounts to drive box sales up. So maybe I should be happy we get so many Gundam.....forget it. I'm eating my words. Flooding us with suits is cool with me.... Although if we get 7 printings of Barbatos in 2 years I'm going to cry to the internet about it, mark my words. 😅💜
@3:35 Oooh! That's actually interesting. Didn't expect this generic release to bring anything, no matter how small, to the design table. EDIT: I appreciate these little flourishes @4:21
I honestly want to get two: open one and keep one sealed. However i might at least buy one and keep it sealed. Im not even a Gundam fan, but they look really clean.
There's so many god damn Bandai TCGs with so many overlapping rules, you can probably extrapolate everything we don't know from the rules all three of the other big games have in common. Draw 5, no turn 1 draw, etc. PS: Having a seperate cost and requirement is also in Digimon, Shadowverse and other games but is simply done by refunding the cost. As for Commander, Shadowverse Evolve has a whole ass product with commander-exclusive cards so I don't think this casual "yeah we might do multiplayer eventually" is going to cut it.
The detective Conan tcg it's pretty good. It's similar but very different. Every turn you get evidence, 7 evidence you solve the case. But you can attack your opponents evidence to stop them from winning. Which means blockers are aggressive and characters than can attack immediately are defensive. Aggro is defensive and control is aggressive .Flips the genre on its head. In order for games to not go for ever, 3 mana spell says destroy a character but 6 mana spell says destroy a character then place this card on your evidence. Or certain characters go on your evidence or mana when they die. Which means if you pass turn while your opponent has 5 evidence you might lose
Can't wait to play my Wing / OO deck where I play every version of the Exia / Wing Gundam. I'm not against the whole, I play every cost variation of the same suit with the same pilot and the other units from the series act as support. It would help you rep your favourite series and not just build good stuff.deck. *As long as they keep each series in one colour or in a dual colour ala Digimon.
I mean I clearly see where this is gonna lead though. Having specific pilots means every pilot is likely going to be way under powered or way over powered since they don't do anything by themselves. The link thing not only encourages running every Wing and Heero, it's basically gonna be the only way to build a successful deck if Heero is worth running at all. I could be wrong and there might be search cards that make pilots more consistent but consistency like that is just gonna speed the game up, which seems to run counter to the base and shield ideas. I don't know maybe I'm just way too cautious since Bandai thinks cannibalizing every card game they own is a good business strategy but then again this definitely can't be worse than Battle Spirits. Right?
If it's a Bandai game you're gonna want to just hold that thought on it not being the same character/s in the deck. It's probably going to be the same as all the others. But regardless I will be playing the game.
I like the whole mechanic of needing a pilot for the mechs, but i’m a little unsure about the shield card going to the trash and not your hand, i wondering how that will effect pacing
Ay yo 2lainz! I immedeatly realised it was you from your voice. Remember you from your roguelite / battlerite videos. Gotta subscribe to this channel as well then, I thought you stopped youtube altogether.
Battlerite!! Real OG stuff! - yeah I just started talking about card games and forgot to tell my other channel because I didn't think there would be any crossover. Probably a bad move on my part.
When did this, send shields to the Graveyard start. Like why is that the new thing, it feels like it goes against the main comeback mechanics Shields were originally meant to be.
Digimon did it, but every shield is kind of a trigger in that game and card draw is also very high. Not sure why they didn't choose to add it to hand here.
@CardGameCrypt It's very odd, like they're slowly moving the mechanic back to Pokémon Prize cards. That's like 5 cards I have 0% chance to use in that game now, wtf.
The dual use for some Pilots is the only thing thats midly interesting to me here. Still excited because its gundam and the cards may make the game cool, but base mecanics are very standard. Great video though!
I don't like how these games are all so similar to each other. Besides that, the mechanics have very little to do with Gundam and could just as well be slapped onto any other franchise, with little modification. Its ... slop. They could have leaned into a mechanic where the cards are mech parts from which you can construct and upgrade a gundam, or where you start out with some hero-gundam and fight with it. Or anything to create some variety. But nope, the same play unit cards and attack sec- ehm, shields, again.
It just feels like Battle Spirit saga and some of that other game my brother made me play. Can't remember the name. Something where you "ride" the main monster and you flip cards on attack to see if the card you get gives you bonuses. Hated it because the randomness is just way too high.
Sorry for the off-topic but did you once play a certain game called Battlerite before? Anyway, thanks for quick and short but very entertaining tutorial!
@@CardGameCrypt Yeah, that has been a very long time, its just that your voice reminded me of someone who made videos of Battlerite before and enjoyed watching it.
1:59 Its official Kira yamato must have a effect that lets it survive unit destruction... I will not accept anything less! Those who've seen gundam seed know exactly what Im talking about. XD
Are Dragondall, one piece, battle spirit, Digimon, all of the cards are the same size? Because I’m hoping not to buy any more sleeve because I got plenty enough
The release of a Gundam TCG is going to be weird. Gundam is definitely VERY popular in Japan and has some popularity in the US, so people will definitely look into the game, the worry is that people may be put off by the graveyard of previous Gundam TCGs
I bet most people won't know or care that there were previous gundam tcgs. The current digimon card game has done pretty well in the US and it's the FIFTH digimon card game released in the US.
I really hope the card game prospers, after learning how they fumbled the bag with Gundam Wars for letting it suffer power creep without doing any balancing actions, and then replace it with the sequel that screw up veteran players by making the old cards effectively useless against the new wave of cards
I ripped em either from premium bandai's product page or the demo video for the gundam game. Someone has made a TTS room with what we've seen so far though.
@@CardGameCrypt oh so its not like an actual game with mechanics specific to the card game, shame. would love to try out union arena online with friends.
@@vmiget01 You can definitely play Union Arena on TTS, but it would be like playing it on a table...virtually. lol. They have almost every japanese set of union arena proxy translated.
I may (hopefully) be wrong, but, does anyone else feel like pilots will be… kinda unplayable? At least it seems so with the few info we have, since they seem to be extra losses once a linked unit is gone, thus making removal a 2x1 against them. Kinda like auras in mtg, hope I’m wrong and this somehow doesn’t end up being the case
Honestly hope this one sticks, but Bandai is kinda bloated with all those card games it's kinda scary they'll just topple from all the logistics issues and eos most of them anyway lmao
Who cares how to play a game that no one can buy because the company that makes it thinks it's funny to constantly limit the amount of product they make? Wtf is the point of playing something you can't buy? They announced the product after the pre-order was open and already sold out? Is this a joke?
Es lo mismo que Digimon , Dragon Ball, one piece, ... Bandai no tiene imaginación para crear tcg y solo está explorando sus franquicia , denle una oportunidad a altered tcg .. amor desde México
