This is still just file transfer. There can be many other folders inside the folder that we are trying to transfer.

What if there are multiple folders inside the shared folder
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy 10 дней назад
Unfortunately, you would have to repeat the process for each of those folders. This video shows an old workaround method, there is now an official method that is a bit easier and more streamlined, and I show you how to do that in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uy-RFNVRPd0.html (skip to 13:20 for transferring folders) But you would still have to repeat the process for each folder with that method. The other option would be to download and re-upload all the files. You could select the folder you want to download and click download, then it would download a zip file containing all the files in their original folder structure, and you could then extract them from the zip file and use the "upload folder" feature in Google Drive to re-upload them all to the new account. This would allow you to more easily transfer everything across with all the internal folders, but it does mean waiting for files to download and upload, and having to deal with zip files.

if i remove access for the original google drive folder will it clear space there?
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy Месяц назад
Yes, it will, it might just take a moment for the storage to update. However, this is an older work around method for transferring files, there's now an official way to do it that's more streamlined. I have an updated video about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uy-RFNVRPd0.html And I show you how you can transfer folders at 13:20 in that video. You can keep using the old method if you like, but the new one might be better.

It's actually still file transfer, not folder transfer T_T If I have a folder with dozens of subfolders within subfolders, that's a whole different story. It's still manually creating new folders in the destination, then manually moving files into each corresponding folder. This is a chore because Google disabled the "make copy" of a shared folder that was previously available. Super pain in the @&$. T_T

Works only with files. I have a folder with sub folders and I can`t find an option to copy it.
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy 2 года назад
Oh, I didn't think about folders within folders. I think the only way to do that would be to separate all the folders and move them individually, then put them back together in the other account. But that sounds like a long frustrating process. So if your internet is up to the challenge, the best way might just be to download and re-upload everything.
@leodebrito5894
@leodebrito5894 2 года назад
@@techtimewithtimmy Yea, that´s what I did. Download and re-upload them. Just finishing it now. :) It is very frustrating that Google don`t allow us to simple move it from one drive to another. Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

after transferring the folder of 10gb in another drive new drive storage remain same & 10gb storage is seen in the previous one but why??
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy 2 года назад
All the files you transfered are probably still in the trash folder on the original account. At the end of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FMzdSdwZDxQ.html I show you how to remove files from the trash. Once you've done that, you might still need to refresh the page and or wait a few minutes, but then the storage useage on the original account should go down. Hope this helps.
@farihaahmedsaki1978
@farihaahmedsaki1978 2 года назад
@@techtimewithtimmy I removed that from trash also. Result is same.
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy 2 года назад
Sorry, but I really don't think there's anything else I could suggest. Once the files are removed from the trash they don't exist on that account anymore so they really shouldn't be taking up any space. It could just be that it's such a large amount of files that it will take a while for the storage to recalculate. But even if that's the case it should have changed by now.

Once you've completed the process, the files will be taking up space in the new account. As well as the old account, but then you can delete the files from the old account, and they will only be in the new account. However, this is an older work around method for transferring files, there's now an official way to do it that's more streamlined. After more attempts of find the answer I've notice someone else had an icon that appeared labelled 'add to my drive' instead of a dropdown list. However, that icon doesn't appear for me either.

Thanks for your reply. This is what I'm trying to achieve. I want to expand my Google Drive storage to 200GB so that I can back-up some of my photographs (I'm an amateur photographer). However I no longer have that much space on my C drive to accommodate a larger Google Drive folder. Therefore I have opened a second google account but no second folder has appeared on C drive. If it had, I'd hoped to move it to a larger external drive. With the help of another youtube video (How to move Google drive folder from C to D - RU-vid) I went through those instructions and all seem to go to plan but I suspect that hasn't worked (Therein lies the problem I suspect.) I then followed the instructions on your video and tried to move files across but alas it won't let me copy them. Once I get all this sorted out, I plan to purchase the 200GB of storage and hope that this new Google Drive folder would expand to 200GB. (I've just realised that I'll need to be careful that I make that purchase via the most recent account using the second email address.) Any guidance you can offer would be gratefully received.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused, are you trying to sync two different Google Drive accounts with the one computer? Because I'm not sure that's possible.

I don't know if it's because of a change following an update in the last 8 months but when I try and make a copy of the files I've shared to my second google drive the dropdown list doesn't offer me the option of making a copy. So I'm stuck half way. Is there a way through?
@techtimewithtimmy

That's strange, things do sometimes change in Google Drive, but I've just checked again on my computer and the "Make a copy" button is still there. So I'm sorry, but I really don't think there's anything I could suggest.

I followed this step by step but for some reason content in the transferred folder deletes when I delete it from the original account. Is there any way to avoid this ?
@techtimewithtimmy
@techtimewithtimmy 2 года назад
That shouldn't happen at all, are you absolutely sure you completed all the steps correctly? Including copying the content into the new folder in "My Drive"? If you just shared the folder with the new account and then deleted the files from the origional account, the files would dissapear then. But as long as you have copied all the files to the new account, they should not be connected to the origional acount in any way and definetly shouldn't be deleted when you delete them from the origional acount. I'm sorry but assuming you've done it all correctly I really can't think of any reason why that would happen.
