Good afternoon Joanna, yes we recommend also applying a layer of mulch to your potted roses as well. :)

Would a coarse bark mulch work in a pinch? I have not found a good mulch yet here in the Netherlands that’s organic and weedkiller free. I have my own compost but not enough to do all the borders.

I thought it was always recommended to not mulch over the base or directly touching the base of the rose?
